  1. Yeah, LotRO's AH was the best I've used in any MMO that I can recall. As far as the GTN is concerned, I wouldn't mind seeing some tweaks but I don't really have any problem using it as it is. Apparently there are a lot of people that can find what they are looking for easily enough as my sales have been quite good.
  2. If you're really interested in why they used the Hero Engine you can read about it here: http://tentonhammer.com/node/51388
  3. That's not a vulgar name unless it means something different in EU or w/e. I'm sure it would take a while but you should appeal their decision if you want to get the name back.
  4. I haven't gotten to lv50 yet and I'm not quite sure I understand. Are you saying that with lv50 Orange items you can't take the mods out?
  5. Seems like a worthwhile idea for improvement to me. Did you put this in the suggestion box? Only thing I would suggest to be added to this is seperate listings for flashpoints, heroics, and "other". "Other" for those that just want to group up for class/regular quests or to take down Champions or world bosses or w/e.
  6. My character owned a speeder at Lv1, just couldn't use it.
  7. Tedious travel is wating 15 minutes for a ferry that will then take you on a 15 minute ride to your destination. All in real time. Why don't you just ask for a quick travel pass that takes you directly to your ship? Something like the Fleet Pass?
  8. The reason for all (most) of the QQ is that the immature, impatient, self-centered, self-entitled, gottahaveitrighthisminute, mywayorelse, members of our community seem to think that everyone should care what they think and agree with them.
  9. Another day, another overly dramatic thread begins on the SWtOR forums.
  10. Only read the OP. Fixing a bug where I get stuck on a loading screen seems pretty important. Someone almost always responds publicly to the community's griefs, complaints, and actual problems. Don't expect them to respond individually to a thousand different threads that bring up the same thing. Most of the responses can be easily found in the Dev Tracker.
  11. A lot of the dialogue is the same but I've found that a lot of it isn't. There are differences both in what is said to your character and what your character might say based on the class, gender, and species of your character. Now that's not true for all class/species combinations. I've rolled two Bounty Hunters of different species and so far everything has been the same for them both (they are also the same gender). But doing some of the same quests with my Chiss IA there have been differences. I can also tell that some of the dialogue in class quests are affected at least by species based on the way the NPCs talk to my Twi'lek SI.
  12. No, I was stating the reasons I think they are doing all of the server maintenance at once and not staggering it by region. It just doesn't make sense to me that they would stagger the maintenance. I used to be in the same situation as the EU community here as I used to play FFXI. Maintenance on that game was scheduled to JP off-peak hours. My downtime in that game was roughly the same as EU downtime in TOR. It wasn't much of an inconvenience for me unless I wanted to play in the morning or early afternoon hours or if I had a free day that happened to coincide with server maintenance. On top of that it's only one day out of the week. I can relate due to my past experience with another game, but I think people are making way too big a deal out of this.
  13. I would hope that not very many would fall for it but... The grammar is about the same as half of the forum posts.
  14. Perhaps the developers of those "crappy games" should have focused more on content and game mechanics rather than "blizzardy features" that few will ever use because they won't play those "crappy games". More features can always be added later. To me it's more important that there is a solid base to build on. If the game doesn't have that then no number of features will prevent it from flopping.
  15. I don't really care about your credentials having worked on a failed game. You don't need to prove to us that we should trust that you know what you're talking about because we simply won't. If you share ideas about how to fix whatever it is that you view as problems then most of us will listen. Now I do agree that there are some features that should probably be added to the game. The big three that many of the threads here have been requesting/demanding/QQ'ng for have been addressed and two are going to be added in the near future. The third, the WoW style dungeon finder, is something the devs have expressed that they do not want but a similar feautre may be added way down the line if they feel it is actually needed. So the games that came before that lacked modern mmo features, you think those were single player games and not MMOs?
  16. I'm most likely repeating one of the previous posts, but just in case... Peak hours aren't the hours that you play or the hours that I play. It's the hours that the majority plays. Essentially, that makes peak hours after school hours and after a business day and usually weekends as well are included. I realize that some members of the community work or go to classes at night but they do not make up the majority. Now if BW really wanted to they could probably do EU and NA server maintenances seperately. I believe the reasons they do not do this is because they are not simply maintaining the servers right now. They are also applying updates and bug fixes. That's something that should be done for the entire community at the same time. Another reason could be that the entire community has access to all of the servers. Do we really want a situation that would cause members from one region flooding the servers that are still up so that they can play during their local server downtime?
  17. I like the UI the way it is now. I wouldn't mind seeing some options added to move things around, resize, change colors, and stuff like that for those that want such options. I don't care much about add-ons as I'll likely never use them. This game's UI is a huge step up from FFXI. It's one of the few interfaces that I haven't wanted to change around. Everything is where it should be for me already. Lucky me. This game has raid frames.
  18. I don't care about UI customization aside from perhaps changing the color scheme. But I do agree that those three things need to be addressed. 1 and 3 are coming at some point. Based on what the devs have said (I occasionally read the dev tracker) dual spec should be coming sooner rather than later and UI customization options are something that they intend to include but it's not a priority for them right this minute. They also mentioned your #2, a better LFG tool. I do think that they need to improve the current tool. What they seem not to want is a cross server dungeon finder. They also don't want for us to LFG outside of the planet that our character is currently on. I don't entirely see their point (they explained their pov, it's in the dev tracker) as it would be nice to go to another planet to quest, farm resources, or w/e while we wait for a flashpoint. It's not like we can't teleport back to fleet.
  19. They explained why it was removed a week or two ago. They're making improvements to it and then they're going to put it back in. Hopefully soon.
  20. I assume you are implying here that such a tool could be added in a different way for TOR and avoid a lot of the problems that the OP mentions. I would agree with that. But what I've seen in a lot of posts requesting such a tool is that those players pretty much want the WoW tool and not a different implementation. Having played FFXI for years I don't really have a problem with the current LFG tool that's already in the game. I would like to see some features added to that tool instead of an entirely new "dungeon finder" or something like that. I'm fine with improvements that help us find group members more quickly/efficiently. What I don't really want is something that makes the group for us.
  21. I dunno. As a BH I haven't had any trouble from a combat perspective in dismissing Mako or sending her off on errands. Is it more advantageous to have her there with me healing away? Of course. But hardly mandatory. When she's with me we kill groups slightly faster and although I'm still taking about the same amount of damage I'm usually all healed up by the end of the fight. Without her the fights only last slightly longer and really it takes very little time in this game to rest up to full health. If you want to solo without a companion I don't really see what's stopping you. Unless you're talking about soloing Heroics without a companion. But those weren't designed to do alone.
  22. I want a hide head slot for companinons as well. At least I still get to see Mako's hair in conversations with her. I've been wondering, does the Trandoshan companion have a boot slot? If he does do the boots show? If so then we need a hide foot option as well.
  23. Haven't the devs been saying that they're going to add a dual spec? It seems like they mentioned it prior to launch as something that wouldn't be in on day one but would be added shortly. Anyway, they'll probably be in the game soon.
