  1. Of course criticism is good. But A). "This sucks. Fix your **** Bioware!" is not helpful in any way. Many of the complaint threads are like that. Many of them are also worded in such a way as to incite flames. There are some good criticism threads on these forums but unfortunately they tend to be the exception. And B). Not everyone will share the critic's opinion on what's broken and needs fixing. If you think that something needs to be added or tweaked or w/e and someone else comes along and disagrees it's usually because they have an opnion that differs from yours. It's not always a personal attack or anything like that.
  2. Every piece of orange armor I've seen has a base armor value before any mods are added. Not all orange pieces are equal. What they should have done is simply make a light, medium, and heavy version of the armor available or make class specific verisons. Or have the armor to scale to the character's highest armor training upon equip.
  3. Nope, not about to cancel. This is my third(?) MMO that I've played at launch. They all have bugs at launch. Some that weren't present during beta. Of the three I think LotRO had the smoothest launch but this one has been rather smooth as well. The other game was simply rushed to release and unfinished. I usually wait a few months before joining any new MMO. Mainly I do this to give them time to sort out the launch bugs and server issues. This game I decided to go ahead and play for the first month and then decide if I want to wait a bit or jump in. It's been smooth enough for me to go ahead and jump in. I have yet to experience any major bugs. I didn't run into the female BH bug with Juda. If that's a relatively new bug I may experience it with my BH alt. I'm not sure if I got past that quest yet with the alt. I've seen some desh nodes here and there that are marked on the map and I can see them but I can't interact with them. I've seen many more that I can interact with. The best thing you can do is send in a bug report on each of those nodes that you encounter so that they'll know which ones need to be fixed. Usually my companion will reappear or find a way to get to me if I jump from a ledge. If I jump from some rocks then sometimes the companion will simply dismiss itself. In those cases I do have to resummon the companion but this is extremely rare in my experience. I dunno, in my experience this game is as ready for launch as any that have previously launched. More ready compared to a few games. Though relatively smooth, perhaps not quite as smooth as a few. Bottom line is I'm having too good of a time to stop atm.
  4. I didn't know you could earn any sp solo. That's good to know.
  5. I can craft all kinds of heavy armor for force users. Just come on over to the Imperial Fleet and I'll sell you some.
  6. Having played games like FFXI and L2 where there are literally hundreds of players' avatars crammed into small city zones, I'm quite thankful that this game (and other games) have found solutions to that kind of lagfest.
  7. Same. I bought it primarily for the statue. Judging from the price of GG's other statues on their website I think the Malgus statue will probably sell for quite a bit more than the retail price of the CE.
  8. Skip some of the side quests and/or some of the heroics and save those for an alt. I agree with you that leveling is a bit too fast and I'm in the same boat. I like to finish all of the content that I can find on each planet before moving on. But I'm about to take my own advice and the advice of others here in this thread and skip a few quests so that I'm not out-leveling the planets before I get to them. Also, I've rolled a couple of alts already and it would be nice if I had a few more quests to do with them that I haven't already done. One is the same class as my main. The other is on the same starter world so there's a lot of repetition. Gonna have to roll either a Sith or a Republic character for the next alt to shake things up a bit.
  9. Mail is instant if you're mailing between characters on the same account. If you're mailing from one account to another there's supposed to be a delay implemented. An hour I think. Same with GTN sales. When one of my items is purchased by another player it takes an hour to get my money.
  10. I saw the price when I went to my trainer the first time. Lv2 or 3? I browsed all of the abilities to see what I could get next and noticed it right away because it was lit up. 40k. My main is not even lv 20 yet and I've got nearly 30k. I'll probably be broke for a level or so after I buy the speeder training but honestly, the money isn't that hard to get right now. I'm making decent profits at the GTN. I haven't had to skip over purchasing any abilities for lack of funds. All is good in my little world.
  11. Thankfully, I haven't had this problem yet. All of my unsold junk has been returned to me. So far... We're all playing SWtOR here. It's OK to use GTN. The lurkers that aren't playing can figure it out on their own if they don't understand.
  12. I'm pretty sure it hasn't changed. It was still like that at least when I started playing right before Cata came out.
  13. Maybe it's the pants you're wearing.
  14. That's because they actually have multiple payment plans. The majority of MMOs that I've played only have one option when paying with a CC. The one's that have had more than one option have had me select one when setting up my account. It doesn't matter. They still do not charge you until after the first month. So what exactly is the issue here?
  15. I'm sure you're not alone, but I prefer it the way it is now. If they change this I hope they just make it an option that can be turned on or off.
  16. Yeah, it's standard for pretty much any service that requires a monthly fee. Whether it be MMOs, Utilities, magazine subscriptions, book clubs, or cable television. They all get your payment info up front even if they offer the first month free.
  17. Neither does this game. If you give them your CC or paypal info they do not charge you until after your included 30 days of game time runs out.
  18. This practice isn't exactly news. It's rather common. This is the 10th P2P MMO that I've played, unless I'm forgetting some. Every single one of them has requested some form of payment option when setting up my account. They don't charge you right away. They wait until your first month of included time has expired. They all allow you to cancel your sub at some point prior to being charged for the first time. For those who want to play beyond the first month I don't really see why this is a problem at all. And it shouldn't really be a surprise since it's laid out plainly on the account page where you enter your game code.
  19. You are not your avatar. Do you have a problem playing a species other than human? Do you have a problem playing some class that you aren't IRL? Gender, species, class, none of it matters. It's just a game.
  20. I think the mods will change the level of the gear depending on what mods you put in there. There may be pieces of armor with a better base armor score that you can mod but for the most part you should be able to just mod it with new stuff and keep it reasonably current.
  21. Yeah it's a bit annoying. I found a work around but it's oh so bothersome. I rotate my camera. I know, I know. Sooo tedious...
  22. They don't actually charge you until after the 30 days of included game time. How is it bad practice?
  23. No, I have no disillusions about how bad of a game SWG was. lol
  24. They don't charge until after your included month's time has run out. I'm not sure if they charge a $1 to check the account though. Some do but others don't.
