  1. LOL. Why would that info get deleted? The game is not even a year old. Maybe they didn't want to be reminded. Let's do a little basic math, with that. If we take 2 million (I know their numbers said 1.8 million) and we multiply that by $15 (again, assuming that none of those people cancelled before being billed near the end of January) then that is $30 million for the first month. That means that with 7 months worth of subscriptions (we had 2 free months - the first month, and the one they gave after the first quarter ended) that would be an additional $210 million (again, this is pretending that they did not lose 25% of the subs in that first quarter - or any, for that matter, since launch). This would total $410 million. The initial development cost was estimated at well over $300 million. Let's not forget they had to press all those discs and make those nice Darth Malgus statues, as well as pay staff. Remember that these numbers assume that we had 2 million subs (they said 1.8 mil), and assumes that we lost none of those subs (we know we lost 25% in the first quarter, and were below 1 million subs at the 2nd quarter). Where is the profit that you see them rolling in???
  2. I would love to know where you got that idea. Among other things, this game apparently has a significantly higher development cost than any other game made, thus far. How did they make the cost back in 6-months? The under-performing was that it was not reaching their expectations. The box and digital sales did not make up for it. Even if 75% of the people that purchased the game bought the CE (which we know they didn't) it would not have paid for the initial cost. BTW, I define initial costs as all cost prior to launch day of the game. Let's also remember there are costs, after that date, as well.
  3. LOL what profit? By their own projections, they needed to maintain around 500K subs for quite a while to break even. Considering the development costs, and the drop in subs, there will likely not be profit for quite some time. The last quarterly financial review indicated they were "under-performing."
  4. I have to agree. They have not fixed the issues that made people leave, to begin with. This has been an issue since beta, where this game's Dev Team seems unwilling to actually take any negative feedback (constructive or otherwise). Now, they expect to sustain the game on a micro-transaction store, without any idea, how this community will support it. This too is being done without regard to the issues that are causing this game to bleed subscriptions.
  5. It looks like what was done is ALL servers were moved to new "mega-servers." In your case, Harbinger was moved with others to a new server that was then renamed Harbinger. This is why you got a name change. Someone that was moved before you likely met the criteria that was used, to keep the name that you had.
  6. LOL. Retention Surveys?? You ask certain questions, and you get the answer that you want. The reality is F2P will have the same issue as subscription. Not enough varied high-end content, and very little re-playability, due to repetitive quests. The hogwash that they tried to give about people not being willing to pay, was clearly slanted. Other games still do well with subs. People telling you that they are not willing to pay a subscription for your game, does not automatically mean the issue is the price. I could list quite a few things that can keep players from staying long-term, that have nothing to do with subs. Not enough class diversity, not enough classes, same quests except for class quest, and I could go on. Burying our heads in the sand to the problems with this game, is what led us to this point, to begin with. In response to the OP, my opinion and suspicion is that subscriptions have dropped below that magical 500K mark, that they needed to sustain. Near the end of August, the first of the 6-month subscriptions started running out. It is likely that numbers warranted this sudden additional merge. BW is a business, and fewer servers means less operating costs.
  7. Wow. I vote for you as the new Lead Developer. I actually agree with every point you made. This game, from the start lacked the touch of people that were familiar with playing MMOs, and had no idea about guilds. If they want to save what is left of the playerbase, they will start listening to feedback like this, and engaging the community in real discussions. I realized in beta, when they only wanted praise, that this was going in a bad direction. They do seem to not care, at all.
  8. I personally, have no interest in playing both factions. I feel that this is an attempt to make us level toons on the opposing faction, instead of giving enough content for a single faction. I think that BW never considered that some players would only want to play Imperials, or some would only play Republic. In response to your statement about having to delete alts, I agree. It's silly. This is one of those opportunities that this Dev Team should take to talk to the remaining playerbase, and actually take into account what some players want.
  9. Quite frankly, I have real concerns about what will be there. Most of the things that we have seen hinted at, have been decorations. Since there is no player housing, or a system to decorate ship interiors, I wonder what they plan. I would like to see some better choices for appearance armor. I also would like to see the ability to change character appearance. However, I don't want to have to pay for those every time.
  10. Actually the nature of MMOs does indicate that you will get content updates, bug fixes, and much more for your monthly sub. This is one of the things that separates them from other games. And just to be clear, "what we paid for" has not exactly lived up to it's promises. Your time might be better spent trolling elsewhere. "Pretty big ego on you for you to think that" we should not get more for our monthly subs!!
  11. What is causing them to bail? Are you aware of the current state of the game? Would you stay on a ship that is sinking, when everyone there knows that you damaged the hull, to make it take on water? Some have clearly been let go, others, likely saw the writing on the wall. BW has already acknowledged the game failed to meet projections and expectations. Someone has to pay for that...
  12. Here is to hoping that BioWare will show the same commitment to this game and it's remaining playerbase. The players cannot do it alone.
  13. So, has in-game CS been empowered to award the comms to those of us that did not receive them?
  14. And so it begins... This was part of the problem in beta. Forum moderators/Devs that found any negative criticism to be "bashing" the game/BioWare. Did it ever occur to this team that now, more than ever, you may want to be listening to the negative feedback, instead of stifling it?? This attitude of only accepting people telling you how great everything is doesn't seem to have gotten us very far in good directions. This game is about to go through a major change, mainly because a disproportionate number of the people that bought this game did not like it or did not like the direction. If you only consider praises constructive, then you are not seeking true feedback. You don't need spin doctors, you need a community team and dev team that are willing to engage this community in actual discussion, and talk about the good things and the bad things about the game. These forums are gaining the image of being useless, as far as communicating with this team. No one wants to discuss the issues with in-game customer service. No one wants to admit that most people quitting this game likely had very little to do with them having a problem with paying a subscription fee that is the same as other MMOs out there. We REALLY need this team to have honest discussions with the community! I would hope that the last 8 months have not been for nothing, and that this team has learned something from this disaster. Likely I will now get the ban, for speaking MY mind. So be it...
  15. How am I off topic? How am I inconsiderate, for sitting through the stuff I didn't want, because others wanted it? You ARE just looking to waste people's time and argue for the sake of arguing. I now understand why you are being kicked from groups, constantly. If this is the attitude that you display in-game, you will likely continue to be kicked from groups. I believe you may have also answered my earlier question of why your friends and guildies won't group with you. Have a good day, sir!!
  16. At this point, your constant barrage of "read x-posts back" has become tiresome. Again, you should take your own advice. Everyone that does not want to watch the cutscenes and/or kill every trash mob is not a jerk. I personally have sat through quite a few cutscenes, because people wanted to watch them, eventhough I didn't. YOU are being inconsiderate.
  17. Actually, it is more like going to the movies to see the same movie you have watched almost every day for the last 7 months. Some people know the story well enough to parrot it, by now. It's not unreasonable to want to spacebar through it. That said, I do not feel it is unreasonable to want to watch it...that is what STORY-MODE is for!!!
  18. Perhaps, you should examine why your friends and guild are not willing to group with you. If you "can't really have sympathy for others" then you ARE just being selfish. The group finder allows you to pick story-mode. YOU choose not to. Make more friends, or find a friendly guild, that has people willing to run through in the method that you want. It's not that difficult. If you are continuously getting kicked, then it is most likely something you are causing. Everyone is not as nasty and inconsiderate as you would paint them. Find people that want what you want, and group with them. Why would you argue for them to add more options to the GF when you don't even use the ones that are already provided?
  19. To be completely honest with you, I believe that a game of this caliber, for this franchise, deserved it's own proprietary engine. In the time it took to develop, that should have been easy.
  20. Now I'm getting the impression you are just being argumentative for the sake of argument. YOU were the one that made the statement about people starting to hate you...
  21. Part of my point is that what is happening to you seems to be atypical. I realize there are inconsiderate and just plain mean people out there, but just because you want to go through the cutscenes and/or pull all of the trash mobs, does not make your desire any more important than the rest of the group. If they want to skip those things, then their wishes are at least as important as yours. You can't have it both ways. I suggest grouping with some friends, or seeking out others that want to kill every mob and watch the custscenes. You say you are being kicked for no reason. That may happen every now and then, but if it is happening often, then there is likely a reason. And yes, I did read previous ones. Perhaps you should take your own advice, and "have some sympathy for others and think about how THEY feel."
  22. Another thing to consider, is that people do communicate. If you have developed a reputation as someone that pulls all the trash mobs, etc. that may be why you are kicked sometimes. I know that our guild actually have a list of a few problematic people that guildies are warned about grouping with for various reasons. If you need the cash, I too suggest you get a better payout for your time in dailies. If you just want to see the stories, try Storymode or ask friends to group. Again, it is possible you are doing something that you are unaware of. Have you ever asked people why they kicked you?
  23. I have to wonder how a F2P model could benefit this game. Most F2P games make their cash on their micro-transactions. These guys have not been able to fix bugs and issues in anything like a timely manner. Are we now supposed to believe they will magically pull a micro store out of their sarlaccs? Again, as has been mentioned earlier, this game has a significantly higher production cost than these other games did. LOL If we discount inflation, and just look at dollar amounts, this game cost more to develop than it cost Lucas to do ANH, ESB, and ROTJ.
  24. We have already seen it "evolve" into a system that has nothing to do with "linking your characters through a legacy." This is yet another cash sink, to force us to grind dailies, and distract us from the fact that no actual content was added.
