  1. Having followed the games development from the start, I leave it having confirmed most people’s initial prediction……. Story and voiceover’s hold little long term value in an MMO. People want content, features, and customization. That might come in time, but it’s pretty obvious which holds a subscription model longer……. and it’s not voices.
  2. Ignorance is bliss and having a constant reminder in the top corner of your screen about how ‘lonely’ your server is, isn’t good for peoples perception. MMO players are fickle with lots of options. If they even think they smell rot, they’ll pitch a game and grab a fresh one.
  3. I try and point a fingered at why TOR holds so little appeal for me, but can’t really. It’s the MMO burn out. Knowing that with each patch/expansion any gear/rewards I’ve earned will become obsolete, I have little incentive to attain them. If you play MMOs for the destination and not the journey, you’ll inevitably be disappointed.
  4. Seems silly to be waiting for guild banks. There's very little function of a guild anyone cares for outside the bank. Unfortunate for BW to have released without it.
  5. Fine balance between clicking and keybinding. As a group healer, there's really no way around clicking Portraits.
  6. F2P works, but creates a huge divide in the community between who's 'paid' and who hasn't. Paid more? You're 'better'. They're made that way intentionally and is why they’re profitable.
  7. I see good things coming, but the problem is, there are so many MMOs out there, nobody needs to wait around for one to 'get good'. They leave and come back when things are good.
  8. If it's entertaining, I'll play. Right now, I'm more entertained by old movies on NetFlix.
  9. Most MMO grinds are rendered a waste of time with any significant patch or expansion. ….. is that still news to anyone?
  10. Good info. Thx. Odd they wouldn't try and cross faction objectives in neutral areas like they do in many other MMOs….. which is also boring for those of us who like more of a challenge in game than simple questing. Why did they bother make PvP servers?
  11. Maybe I just don't know how, but comparing gear for sale with companions gear..... always shows comparison to my main.
  12. I joined a PvP server in the hopes that I'd be contesting with the opposing faction during world quests. I've yet to even glimpse anyone of the opposing faction….. and I’m a Republic player.
  13. I like my numbers. I don't care about anyone elses but I'd like to see mine.
  14. I'm sitting at level 25 with little to no interest in developing my character further. My crafted gear is as generic and useless as the next guys. Automatic companion quests and recipes learned, as expected, offer no sense of accomplishment or attachment. There’s nothing ‘unique’ about my leveling experience and there’s little option to vary from the narrow tunnel the game’s pushing me down. While people hate the comparison, in WoW, you at least had the choice between two different leveling area’s for any given level range. That choice and those areas defined my characters. Current subscriber but seeing as the only interest I’ve had in game in the past two weeks has been to sign into the forums, I doubt for long.
  15. I haven't played in over two weeks. Why? I've little interest in signing in.... am I'm only level 25 of my first play-through. The lack of any guild features is a huge issue. Topped off with the fact that my crafting is nothing more than a credit sink and hardly useful to my other guild members, I’ve nothing spurring me forward in game. I don’t even see level 50 as a goal but more of a beginning to the end. Voice and story, as expected, are highly overrated and expensive content in an MMORPG. Current subscriber...... questionable re-subscriber.
  16. I'll agree with your gripe on the engine, but everything else is just standard MMO stuff. (FYI….. my 8 year old computer with a 256mb graphics card plays this game fine) PvP….. there’s no balance in any class based MMO for PvP. As for Warzones being like WoW, there’s little other objective based war games besides what they’ve created. Believe it or not, capture the flag is a game older than WoW….. I’ve heard some people even play it in RL. I’ll give you one more thing……. ‘Summoning stones’ or what would make more sense in TOR ‘shuttle terminals’, would be a nice touch.
  17. I'd agree with you here. People want the fastest rewards/hour they can get. Creating a group and chatting to someone requires more effort than just running along to the next quest. Same with LFG tools. Sure, you could spend time forming relationships with people in your own server, inviting those you've run content with to friends lists and forming groups easily in the future……. but it’s easier to push BioWare to create an auto grouping tool that requires no communication and thus, no content that involves coordination to complete. I see this game taking the route of WoWs x-server ways and I shudder. They started off x-server in BGs in WoW too…… then they added them to Instances.
  18. I'd have to disagree here. D-bags in server only groups get set on so many ignore lists, they don’t group for long. That's the only recourse available to the playerbase in an MMO. X-server takes it away. X-server, players dropped groups in seconds if something wasn’t up to their standard, knowing full well they could join another group in seconds. You can’t join a LFD group in WoW without reading at least one of these: “You’ve never run this?”……. drops groups. “L2 hold agro tank”…… drops group. “Your DPS sucks”….. drops group. “Nice GS noob”…… drops group. “Keep up or we’ll kick you healer” (ex. SWTOR scenario) “….. ya, but my companion could use the mod in that so….. I’ll need” The convenience of the system turns group encounters into a race for rewards/hour and since it’s with people you’ll never see again, that’s all that matters. I have little trouble forming groups. I’m under the impression that people that do, aren’t group players and thus want an auto grouping tool which requires no communication or interaction in an MMO. What they want is faster rewards/hour.
  19. Simply put, x-server grouping creates the kind of self-entitled attitude only the impunity of the internet can offer. Playing with a group of strangers you’ll never play with again…… how would anyone care about anyone but themselves? Players don’t need to act civil as there’s no recourse to their poor actions. Playing with other people on your server creates a community where you form familiarity with one another and you can actually build a name for yourself that holds value. Players have to see this now in game. There are both allies and foes you recognize in FPs and Warzones. Who’s good and who’s bad. Who would you rather be?.... the Trooper with a name people remember and everyone follows as they know you’ll push them through, or Trooper ‘x’ from server ‘y’ they couldn’t care less about and everyone just runs around in circles doing their own thing? …. and that’s just allies. I still remember foes from BGs in WoW that you knew to avoid. Those players created a name for themselves. I won’t even get started on how guild recruitment dies with a LFG tools. In short, you can’t ask someone to join your guild if they’re on another server.
  20. ^^ This is the only real solution. Don't expect people not to 'need' something they need.... even if it's for their companion.
  21. Games launched....... how long do you think the Dev team would hold together?
  22. You demand group content but are unwilling to acknowledge ways to group outside a tool which pools faceless players you’ll never see again. It's your expectation of grouping and how it should work based off your experience in WoW. It’s so unapparent to you to add friends on your server you group with because there was no point in WoWs LFD tool as the likelihood of seeing the same people again was slim to none. This isn’t WoW. If you want to run group content, become a group player and start adding other group players in your server as ‘friends’. Stop being another faceless player spamming chat and start standing around the entrance to the place you want to run and see if anyone needs an extra. People are running FPs all the time undermanned. If you’re an easy pick up standing at the gate, off you go.
  23. This is the kind of self entitled mentality the LFD tool spawns. “Face roll FPs for ‘epics’…. Who cares who I’m grouped with”…. “Faster noob….Faster!” etc….. etc…. That playstyle comes through in game and is probably why you’re having a hard time grouping. I have a suggestion for you....... next time you group with people..... before saying 'Bi' at the end of the run, ask to add them as 'friends' to run group content next time. You’d be surprised how fast your pool of contacts becomes and a community forms on your server. I’ve no shortage of people to group with because I’ve proven myself to be a reliable group member. …… and who knows…. you might even form a guild doing so. Something you can’t do x-server.
  24. If you're not sure it's because you've played little else than WoW. It comes down to accountability in server only groups. When players are clearly not group players (ie. “Suck it TANK..... I'm gods gift to DPS..... L2Tank noob”... etc.....etc....) you have the ability to boot them and set them on ignore to never play with them again. That's accountability and doesn’t allow for a degeneration of the player base. With x-server grouping, there’s no accountability as it doesn’t matter if you’re the biggest a-hole the games ever spawned. There's a pool of players from other servers that won’t dry up regardless of how uncivil they act.
  25. Address the part where the player base using a LFD tool can deal with a-holes? I've yet to see anyone act in TOR the way they do in WoWs LFD x-server waste pool. Why?..... because there are consequences in server only groupings. You want faster gear and you’d compromise the quality of game play to do so. We’ll have to agree to disagree if you can’t see that.
