  1. Ok I'm glad it's not just me. I returned to the game after 2 years off and I'm really struggling to level in record time. I don't have a high level alt to feed me gear and some of the boss fights have been brutal with me having to replay them a couple times. It also I seems that sins are lacking some key tools until they get into their 40s (ie I haven't unlocked voltaic slash.)
  2. OP, I hav a level 49 commando and just started over with a level 15 operative. I will give you the same advice I got regarding my op - wait until level 15 before joining a WZ. Youll have enough basic abilities by then and also a good idea how to play your class. As far as which side to choose, if you like a military themed story where you are the elite spec ops trooper at odds with the Senate ( think Mass Effect) go trooper. I've never played bounty hunter so can't comment.
  3. I just resubbed too to finish my trooper quest and try an imperial toon. I didn't like the restrictions on FTP but feel the extra cartel coins from being a subscriber and collector edition owner made resubbing worth it. Also agree that you should restart, preferably on the other side if you haven't done so yet.
  4. Just my 2 cents as a founder who decided to resub after a week of FTP. First, I think you're charging for the wrong features. Your greatest strength is your storyline. I would give free players full access to features but charge them for acts or planet quests (starting planets free of course). Secondly, you need to offer better value in the cartel market. I also play GW 2 and feel their cash shop has more compelling choices (better consumables, better Items for crafters, etc).
  5. Personally, I found both the Sith and Jedi storylines cliche, though the Sith inquisitor storyline was at least more entertaining. The non-force storylines I've played (commando and operative) were far more nuanced and interesting. I'm former military and the trooper's moral choices often came down to choosing between saving the lives of Republic soldiers or civilians. I found those choices far more compelling than deciding whether to torture a prisoner with force lightning or not. I just started the agent but so far I'm really liking the story choices. Jedi was just so boring by comparison.
  6. I'm a returning player who has just rerolled a healer op and want to know when is the earliest I can go into a WZ and be moderately useful to my side. I know I can play from level 10 but I want to know if I should wait till Level 15 or even 20.
  7. That's an awesome movie idea - I would totally go see it. While I don't have a single solution for the plot, I think the new movies needed a lot more intrigue and less "space politics." Look at how Game of Thrones does it. Sure, there are some boring scenes of what's going on in the kingdom, who's attacking what, etc. But what's interesting is trying to figure out which characters are trying to stab the others in the back. Oh, and Mace Windu needed more kickass scenes.
  8. Just curious - are there any examples of different species mating and actually having offspring in the extended Star Wars universe? I can think of plenty of Star Trek characters that are mixed species, but not any Star Wars ones. I'm asking because I'm trying to determine what's realistic for legacy offspring.
  9. What I find hilarious is I'm sitting at level 48 and would have been level 50 if I hadn't taken a few weeks off to play Mass Effect 3 - another Bioware/EA game. Yet somehow I'm getting punished despite being a loyal Bioware customer. I don't know of any other MMO that only gives free time based on player level versus how long they've been subscribed. When WOW was having tech difficulties in the first few months, EVERYONE got free time.
  10. No Garza was cool with the outcome and I still got lightside points since my decision was to try to bring him in alive. It's cool to hear that other people had an ending where he surrendered peacefully. I wasn't completely keen on the whole "McGrubber" ending. Hey I'll let you surrender - wait he's got a gun!
  11. I found the Act 1 storyline to be very good. I'm now in Act 2 and things are dragging. I'm hoping some of the troopers who have played a bit can tell me if things get better in Act 3. Then again, part of the problem is I'm outleveling content, so my character is a good 2-3 levels above his storyline.
  12. There's two things I miss about SWG. The first is exploring truly open world planets. A good example is how the two games treat Tatooine. In SWG, you didn't feel like you were constantly being herded into canyons or forced to fight in secret enemy bases. The planet felt as expansive as what I saw in the movies. Secondly, I miss customizable player housing. Otherwise, I feel SWTOR is a superior game. I love a dynamic storyline rather than getting random missions from a terminal. I love having a powerful hero at launch rather than having to grind for hundreds of hours to earn that lightsaber. In SWTOR, I can be competitive as a "casualcore" player (someone who puts in 15-20 hours a week). In SWG, I was completely wasting my time if I wasn't playing it as a second job.
  13. What happens if you're playing a real life sport and rage quit? Not only will you lose that match, but you'll probably be sitting on the bench for several more games if not the season. If you constantly rage quit while playing board or card games with friends, eventually nobody will want to play with you. Why should it be any different in a MMO? Seriously, 5-10 minutes is a fraction of time and even if you're losing bad you should stick it out. Your time is no more important than that of the teammembers you are abandoning.
  14. Honestly, a three-month turnaround for the first big content patch is better than most recent games, except maybe Rift which seems to pump out new content on a monthly basis. For giggles I looked up when the first big content was launched for WOW back in 2005. Lo and behold the Dire Maul patch came in late March.
