  1. I hope this isn't true or it's back to the drawing board for me. I can tell you that deception assassin looks to be way off, but that's just based on feel (which, as we all know, is reliable).
  2. Bingo! OPs pre-nerf were all suicide killers, unless vanish was off cd and worked. Pyro BHs and Maras are just out and out killers. They may not have the insane burst OPs had pre-nerf, but that is more than made up for with their sustained damage and their incredible survivability. They may take 1gcd longer to kill someone, but they can do it over and over before dying.
  3. On my server, which is extremely busy, I see tons of every class everywhere. In fact, I probably see more marauders than anything else.
  4. I have played both merc and pt in pyro spec. It is a gimped spec for merc, no question. S, you have mobility, but so what? It's not worth losing all of the burst and sustained damage of arsenal. Leave pyro for the pts and spam your tracer missile.
  5. Why not just require that 31 points be spent in one tree before the other trees "unlock?" That would be fair for everyone.
  6. Many of the quest lines have been poorly designed. Many quests at Nar Shadda, for example, or Tatooine, require you to run all over the planet, for quest objectives. That doesn't make sense. There is way too much senseless running for it to be fun. Exacerbating the issue is that once you have run from one side of a map to the other to turn a quest in, you have to run back for the second stage. The design of these quests is just horrid. The idea of "quest hubs," where all quest objectives are around the quest giver and you only run to get from one quest hub to the other is really the best way to design an mmo. You spend much more time questing and much less time traveling this way.
  7. The servers will still be dead for 1-49. Many people have decided to bite the bullet and simply reroll on a busy server. I did and it has been great. It reminds me of when the game first opened. All areas and planets are busy, groups are easy to find, and I am taking full advantage of all of the "I wish I had done this or that" moments I had the first time around. The leveling is great fun and you actually see the other faction some times. On the right server, this game is great fun, the PvP is robust and there are always people looking for groups. It is a blast. Once server transfers are implemented, the end game may get more robust on some servers, but many of the planets will still be dead. I am not against server transfer options. In fact, I am pretty sure I will be able to take advantage of it to move a couple of toons. But, until then, I am having a blast on a very crowded server (10 min ques during peak hours). Give it a try before you give up and you just might remember why you enjoyed the game in the first place.
  8. I will tell you why. Hundreds of us rerolled on the Fatman. As a result, all of the level "brackets" are extremely busy. If you just move your 50 to a server, it does nothing for the overall health of the server. That said, the Fatman has 10 min que times during peak hours.
  9. I think the only issue with Operative nerfs is that they were reactionary and not reasoned out. The whole concept of the change was to make it harder for OPs to kill players based on the idea of a "team" of OPs hunting people and killing them all within the stunlock, over and over again. Kind of like a "team" of sages/sorcerers can focus fire someone and rock/lightning them to death before you can get to them. The concept of the Operative is to kill anyone 1v1 out of stealth, except maybe tanking classes. They were working fine before the first nerf and this was obvious from the limited number of people who played them. Truth be told, rogue classes in general tend to attract the best PvPers. That's why the usually end up unbalanced and nerfed in the first patch.
  10. Thanks! I appreciate your comments!
  11. Listen people, it's GO time. I need to decide on a main. After rerolling on a new server, I was deciding between Mara, Assassin and Powertech. Leveled each to 10 and saw more Maras than the other two combined (looked like a concert there were so many glowsticks around). So, I narrowed it to Assassin or PT. Assassin is 21; PT is 13 (I got the pre-14 blues). Here's the bottom line, I like both, but lack experience with either at end game. I will be doing both PvE and PvP and want a class that is interesting, fun and capable (not op; not up). I have played an OP (loved it) and a sorc (ranged is not for me). Any insight or advice would be appreciated. I will be making the same post in the Assassin forum. Thanks in advance.

  13. SIs are early bloomers, whereas Juggs are late bloomers. If you stick with it, it gets much better, but it is harder to play.
  14. People want sith warriors over snipers on your server? On my servers, it's exactly the opposite.
  15. This is why WOW has lasted has long as it has. Wow has always had the best animations and most responsive player control. They have a superior engine. Other games hide their lack of responsiveness and fluid control with prettier graphics, but it does not make up for the fact that WoW creates a more immersive environment because of the control/movement. If Aion, Rift, SWTOR, Warhammer, etc. had learned that one lesson, they would have taken down the monster long ago, instead of wiping over and over again.
  16. My vote goes to the sand cowboy.
  17. It is the Law of PvP that mobility matters. Mercs are turrets, subject to all kinds of horrible things. The spec that grants Merc mobility, pyro, is very poorly designed for the Merc AC and yet feels very comfortable with the PT. PTs have more burst, more mobility and almost everything is instant cast. They are unkillable, unkiteable, wrecking balls of hate that roll around the WZ squishing everyone that dares get in their way. They /laugh, /dance and /rude to you, while you burn to death or, worse yet, they run at you like some armored bull just so they can punch you right in the face.
  18. They have ranged attacks that hurt. Maybe not as much as a sniper, but they still hurt. They also have slows, roots and stuns that are very effective. If they had a gap closer, then they would be perfect.
  19. Rogue archetypes generally draw two types of players: very good players, who do well and kill everyone, and bad players, who see what the good players are doing and believe it's all about the class. When someone runs into a good Concealment Operative, he seems OP because he kills them fast. He would, of course, kill them faster with a Marauder, but at least they would see that coming. After dying fast, to someone who appears out of nowhere and then pops back out of existence just as quick, they come here and scream about how OP the class is, because certainly it has nothing to do with their skill level, being so uber themselves (haha). So, in short, players are op, not classes and the best players in most mmos just get drawn to similar archetypes, perpetuating the myth that "rogues" are OP.
  20. I read this and thought it was a necroed thread. Who still dies to OPs within the "stun lock?"
  21. We just need to make sure the name Carolina Parakeet survives the patch, even if the spec doesn't. Seriously, PTs will be exactly where they are now after the patch goes live and everyone but Assassins and Maras get changed in some way. PvP balance can't be judged in a vacuum. PTs may not have such absurd burst, but Sorc healers won't have such absurd heals either. In the end, balance requires looking at all of the class changes, not just the changes to your class.
  22. I would be surprised if Commandos put out the same damage as gunslingers. I have no proof, just a gut feeling after playing both.
  23. Lag makes kiting in pvp impossible. Melee keeps hitting you, even when you appear to be far away from them.
  24. Why would anyone duel a tank or healer? Tanks are designed to mitigate incoming damage while putting out enough pain to hold aggro. Healers are designed to be able to keep tanks up against NM mode bosses, which hit quite a bit harder than any player. 1 v 1 these classes should win almost every time. DPS classes are designed to work within a group context and focus fire. When 2 dpsers focus a tank or healer, the dpsers win. When they try to go it alone, against a tank or healer, they usually lose, all other things being equal. That's working as intended and why no game balances pvp around 1v1. If you want 1v1 balance, play Mortal Combat.
