  1. I guess I have a few issues with it. For one, years of playing Alliance in WoW has taught me that not making things 50/50 is a terrible, terrible idea. For another, it's not so much that I mind Republic gaining any sort of victory, it's how it's presented. I'm not a fan of players taking part in a faction victory that directly takes away from a faction victory on the other side that players also took part in. I also hate how they've done Balmorra and Taris, but as I've said they kind of even each other out. Also, as it's the last major planet we go to and last major story we take part in (at least until an expansion) it seems like it's something that should give equal victory to both sides and not just favor one.
  2. The first time I did Corellia was on an Imperial character. It felt really awesome helping to make that guy (forgot his name) become the new leader of Corellia and felt like a real fist pumping hell yeah moment. I just finished up Corellia on a Republic character though and all I can say is WTH? People are normally saying BioWare favors Imperials but aside from a lack of voice actors on the Republic side I don't really see it. Corellia though clearly favours the Republic over the Empire. Not only does the Republic take back the planet, they also kill three members of the Dark Council. That just feels like a real kick in the teeth and makes it like all the quests I did on Corellia as an Imperial were for nothing. At least with Balmorra and Taris they sort of balanced each other out in terms of wins and losses. What does the Empire get for its crushing defeat of Corellia though? Will we get to crush another Republic planet? Will we get to kill Satele Shan or that Trooper guy from the cinematics? Maybe I'm missing something here. Maybe it's not as bad as it looks. So can someone maybe clearify it? Did the Republic really take back Corellia and defeat the Empire?
  3. Not really exited for Elder Scrolls Online at all. It doesn't look anything like an Elder Scrolls game. Boring same old same old hotbar mmo combat. Third person. Set classes. No player housing. Terrible gear design (seriously, they've got female armour with **** windows. I mean ***? The awesome thing about the Elder Scrolls games is they don't pull sexist stuff like that.). It's doesn't look like an Elder Scrolls mmo at all. It looks like a f2p cliche fantasy mmo. Reading about it it's like they decided to try and recreate DAoC but with a WoW skin ontop. This is not the Elder Scrolls MMO I've been hoping for I do sort of find it funny though that it's promising 100 vs 100 pvp battles when the most TOR can manage without lagging is about 10 vs 10.
  4. I really hoped this MMO wasn't going to be like almost every other MMO were they just bring out news raids and dailies and you never really get any new story content, or at least story content that's not tied to a raid, until an expansion comes out. Seems I was wrong. That they'd spend their time and resources developing new raids and 4 man content instead of adding SGRA, same gender quest flirst, new companions and new story has me concerned about the future of the game. I get that some people love that sort of stuff but if that's all BioWare's going to add I can't see myself sticking around for much longer. I've decided to give BioWare an ultimatum. If SGRA and same gender quests flirts don't come out with patch 1.3 then I'm gone.
  5. When are you going to add same gende.... you know what? I'm just not going to bother anymore.
  6. Transfered my two characters over from the US servers to the Asian-Pacific servers, a Sith Warrior and Jedi Consular. Had created placeholder names for those two characters. Delete character called Avera. Select Sith Warrior and hit play. Get told to choose a new name for my character. Type in Avera. Hit ok. Jedi Consular is now called Avera. I want a couple free name changes so I can sort this mess out and give my Sith Warrior and Jedi Consular their proper names.
  7. After tonight the server transfers for Oceanic players are going to take place sometime within the next 7 days. We won't know when until they happen. Because of this BioWare needs to come out and tell us now, before the transfers start to happen, what the situation is with saving character names. Many people, myself included, made alts on the new servers for the sole purpose of saving the names of our characters so that when we transfered them over our characters would get to keep their names. The issue is whether or not we need to delete the placeholder characters before the transfers take place or if we can wait till after the transfers take place and then do it. If we wait until after the transfer has taken place our transfered character is going to need to be renamed because there would already be a character on the server with their name, the placeholder character. What we need to know is whether there will be the chance to delete our placeholder characters before we rename our transfered characters or whether we'll be prompted to give new names to our transfer characters straight away upon logging into the game and hitting the character select screen with no opportunity to delete any of our characters beforehand. So far BioWare has remained quiet on this issue. But please BioWare, with the server transfers happening very soon can you just tell us how this is going to work?
  8. I have to completely disagree with this statement. One of the things I hate most about the Star Wars universe is how everything just feels wrong. The ships, the buildings, everything. None of it feels realistic or like it's "supposed" to look. Star Wars is one of the most unrealistic universes there is and it takes a great deal of willing suspension of disbelief to enjoy it because there's just so much that feels wrong. On topic of the poor armour design though, I'm sort of on the fence on this one. There are quite a few end game sets that do looks really terrible, particularly on the Republic side. There's also some really horrible sets just floating around the game, but that's to be expected of all MMOs. There are also some really cool looking end game sets and some social gear that is just awesome. The problem, as I see it, is that BioWare is both constrained with the armour they can design but also has a great deal of freedom. They're constrained with the design of end game combat gear because, going by what's in the movies, Jedi and Sith just stick to robes for the most part, maybe some robotics, and a brown or black colour scheme, Troopers wear plain white armour and Smugglers wear some leather rags. On the other hand BioWare have a lot of freedom because Star Wars is full of a lot of cool outfits that they can turn into social gear. I mean just look at the stuff Padme wears in both the films and The Clone Wars tv show. The thing is those sorts of clothing are better suited to non combat so it makes awesome social gear but wouldn't make much sense as end game pve/pvp gear. The only thing BioWare can do to try and keep end game gear interesting and still feel like it fits with Star Wars is to try and combine the two things I mentioned above. Have all the gear coloured brown and black and be the traditional robes, cyborg armour and leather rags worn by the characters in the films but combine it with the more stylish flare of civilian clothing and draw inspiration from the fantasy genre, samurai and witches and stuff, that's a major part of the Star Wars universe. This is what they've been doing but so far it hasn't really worked. This is because some of the gear design has just been terrible but also because a lot of fans seem unwilling to accept anything but the traditional robes, plain white armour etc, even though having the Jedi wear samurai looking armour or Sith wear witch/shaman looking gear fits into the lore of the Star Wars universe quite nicely.
  9. The legacy family tree is an interesting concept but at the moment it's rather lacking. I have a few suggestion on how to improve it. 1: Less linearity. I don't know if linearity is the correct term to use here but it's the one I've seen people use when talking about this issue. Basically you should be able to do things like set two of your characters as married and then set another of your characters as a child of those two characters, rather than just one. You should also be able to have character relationships that are separate from other relationships. For example you should be able to make two of your characters allies and then not have them in any form of relation with any of the other characters on your tree. 2: The ability to add companion characters to your tree. This one's pretty self explanatory and I don't think I need to go into any more detail regarding it. 3: The ability to move your characters around. What I mean by this is that instead of having ally/rival always go to the side, child always go down etc you should be able to drag them around anywhere on the screen. Also the ability to resize your characters portraits. Both of these things will be important if companions are eventually allowed on your family tree because otherwise you might run out of room to add everyone. 4: More relationship options. A few suggestions I have for this: Grandparent Grandchild Uncle/Aunt Niece/Nephew Cousin Friend (I consider this to be different to ally) Enemy (I consider this to be different to rival) Mentor Lover Divorced/Separated They could also add things like: Master Padawan/Apprentice General Commander Captain Sergeant Private The first two would obviously be great for Jedi and Sith characters and the other ones are military ranks for if someone wants to roleplay their 'family' less as a family and more like a military squad or mercenary group. 5: The ability to set multiple relationships between characters. You should be able to set two of your characters as being both rivals and lovers, one character being both grandparent, mentor, friend and ally to another character etc. If they add these things I think the family tree can be something that's really fun for people to muck around with, even those who aren't into roleplaying their characters.
  10. Paying $10 to unlock a dungeon and $20 for a set of epic gear? No thanks. F2P mmo's are fun to muck around in for a couple hours but they're not the sort of thing you can get invested in long term. I'll stick to my $15 a month mmo's, thanks.
  11. SGRA and same gender quest flirts, when are they coming? Why do I bother asking this question every week when I know the answer? They're never coming, are they.
  12. It does look better then the old site. I'm still having trouble accessing it through my browser though. For the past couple weeks going to http://www.swtor.com has taken me to the page saying the website is down for maintenance. Even now it still takes me to that message and it's the old look of the site, not this new one. I have to google the old republic and follow the first link to get onto the site. I've tried it from different computers and it hasn't worked so I know it's not just my computer stuffing up. Hope they fix it soon.
  13. Old thread is old but... Unless you're skipping quests you should always be starting a planet at it's recommended level range and ending it at its recommended level range. Start Hoth at 40, finish at 44. Start Voss at 44, finish at 47. I've leveled up two characters so far, one Imperial to 50 and a Republic to 46, and it's worked out like that for me. That's just doing all the single player quests, bonus quests and bonus series, no heroic quests, space missions, flashpoints or warzones. I actually skipped over the Voss bonus series on my Imperial and still finished my class quest at level 50. There's pleanty of quests in the game to level up. If you really are having trouble though just do a warzone or space mission every now and then.
  14. Just did the sandpeople daily, no new quest dropped from them. Guess I'll do it tomorrow. Thanks for letting me know you had to get it from the sandpeople quest though. I guess it'll be best to just do all the dailies every day so I can unlock everything. I just hope I haven't missed out on something because I missed a day.
  15. It's not that simple though. It takes more xp to gain a level the higher you get up your legacy level, so legacy level 12 plus legacy level 11 wouldn't equal legacy level 21, it would be a combination of the xp needed to get to legacy 12 and legacy 11, which would probably equal something like legacy level 18.
  16. So I don't have to do the ship captain and sandpeople again and tomorrow I won't have to do the escape pods again, just what ever the new daily is? Cool.
  17. Two days ago, when the event started, I did all the dailies available to me. Yesterday I didn't do any. Today I learnt you could unlock new dailies so I ran back to the ship wreckage and found I had a new daily available to me the involved tracking down some escape pods. I did that daily but I did not complete the first daily where you have to fight the ships captain and then go do that stuff with the Sandpeople. My question is, was that enough to unlock another new daily for tomorrow or do I have to finish every single daily available for the event, both old and new, each day in order to unlock the next quest down the chain?
  18. It doesn't work like that. You have to sign up before the 24th for a transfer and then sometime within the next 7 days, you won't know when exactly, your character will transfer over. I believe it said in the email this transfer could take up to 3 hours. I'd really like an answer to the name thing too. I want to know if I need to delete my placeholders before the 24th or not. BioWare's being really quite on the issue though and locking these threads.
  19. That's actually a pretty good idea. I don't get why they're so against the idea of relationships with non human in appearance aliens in the first place though. They let femShep get it on with Garrus in Mass Effect and he's just as alien in appearance as the Trandoshans and Wookiees in the Star Wars universe.
  20. I was hoping they'd fix the sound problems with last nights maintenance. Now it seems we'll have to wait another week. Most annoying for me is my companions sounding like they're speaking to me over a radio.
  21. I thought this had been known about for a while. I'm pretty sure it was mentioned back when the Aus servers first opened up. It's one of the reasons many people held off leveling a new character on the new servers.
  22. I'd like to know whether or not I'll have a chance to delete my placeholder characters on the Aus servers before having to rename my mains because they share the same name as my placeholder characters or whether I should delete the placeholders before the servers transfer happens.
  23. You get a presence buff for all your characters. Presence makes your companions better at combat or something like that.
  24. At the moment I'm leaning towards maybe. I've almost got my Jedi Shadow to level 50 and after I transfer her and my Sith over to the Aus servers I guess I'll pvp for a bit but after that I don't know what's going to keep me playing the game. The flashpoints and operations seem somewhat interesting but I don't want to have to go through the hassle of getting a group together for them. I know that sounds stupid in an MMO but I've been playing this genre for years and after spending hours spamming chat channels in WoW trying to form a group only to have it fall apart on route to the instance I never want to go through that again. The pvp could keep me interested for a while but I doubt it. I'm a fan of large scale battles and all TOR has at the moment is little skirmishes. What I'd really like to do is to keep leveling new characters but no same gender romance arcs and no same gender quest flirts is really killing any desire I have to do that. What I'll probably do is subscribe for another month or so and then if there's no information out about patch 1.3, or if there is information out and 1.3 sounds boring, I'll unsubscribe until they add some new content to the game I'm interested in. If they add some new solo story arcs or new companions I'll definitely come back to check it out. If they add same gender romance arcs and same gender quest flirts I'll be back long term and will probably end up leveling all classes to 50, provided the same gender quest flirst apply to all current quest flirts in the game and not just some new level 50 quests they've added. If they add a dungeon/raid finder and/or some large scale battlegrounds, like 20 vs 20, 40 vs 40, 100 vs 100 type of large scale, I'd also be enticed to maybe come back and check things out. If, however, they keep going along the route they're going and just add a couple new flashpoints and operations every few months I'll probably stay away.
  25. I'd like to know this as well. In WoW you don't have to re-name your character until you try and enter the world with them, and you can exit the re-naming screen whenever you want, so you've got the opportunity to delete any placeholder characters you've made and then give that name to your main character. I want to know if it will be a similar situation here or if we'll be prompted to pick a new name without having the chance to delete any of our placeholder characters. Since there's no name change service in place I'd really like an answer to this before the 24th because I'd like to know whether I should delete my placeholder characters before or after the transfer.
