It's actually quite interesting to play other classes after playing the Marauder for so long. Interesting in that many of them are so simple and straightforward, and also that so many players ignore a good portion of most classes that they play, or play against.
For example I rolled up a PT Pyro after playing the Marauder for nearly two months straight. I was bored and I knew a few pyros that did crazy burst damage, and I figured I could always spec to tank. Now PT Pyro is some super crazy burst damage, but it is so unbelievable basic that it's mostly boring outside of the fact that you are simply blowing people up.
While it is pretty easy for anyone to comprehend: Detonator > Incendiary or Flame burst > Railshot > Rocket punch > Flame burst/RS proc and thus pump out a lot of damage with it I found that a TON of the PT Pyros that I was playing with/against never went beyond that. They used their grapple at less then optimal times, they rarely used their taunts, they blew carbonize when it did nothing to change the fight/match and they constantly got over extended as a class with no escape-ability and died. They also poorly managed their heat and relied too much on the vent heat CD to output sustained DPS.
If you play like that on a PT Pyro, you're simply less then optimal and not doing much to help anyone but yourself, but you're still do good damage. If you do it on a Marauder you're ineffective and likely dead/running most of the time. On the PT, sure, you can spam grapple and not think much about it, never use your taunt, and constantly overheat yourself... it isn't good but it's not the end of the world. However when I go up against Marauders that instantly panic-blow all of their CDs, never use their blind, use cammo as only an escape, frenzy only at the beginning of the match, never snare, dump all of their big damage right into their targets CD's, don't have their CDs up when big burst is incoming or don't know when it's coming ect... they're just a free kill to build fury on and basically not much better for their team then an AFKer.
The flip side is that while it's fun to blow people up with the PT, I enjoy playing the Marauder far more. The PT has very little utility/mobility and only 2-3 "tools in the toolbox". The Marauder has the whole damn hardware department and the lumber yard to supply it and go build something.
