  1. None of those things would be as big a single case infusion as releasing an OS X version... and entire new market opportunity. Mine or yours, either one is a valid view, and neither one of us has any data to back up what we say would bring them in more money. EA is a money making business, and they look into costs vs reward all the time based on various pieces of data at their disposal. At this time, they have determined that spending the money on Mac OSX is not going to give them as much reward as doing something else, what ever that may be. It doesn't matter what the doctors say, ultimately it will be EA who decides if they want to spend the money on it, and when. If the doctors are serious about it, it will be up to them to have enough data to prove that it is a worth while investment at this time. There's a lot of common sense behind what I am saying, not to mention part of my job entails knowing this data. And as I said in my other thread, it appears to me in the words the doctors are using that the wheels are already turning to support the Mac.
  2. I think you can infer by the way that they are speaking in interviews that the wheels are already in motion.
  3. Except your "guarantees" are founded on nothing except defensive forum rhetoric. Don't believe me? Call up support right now, tell them you're playing on a Mac, and see what they say. Please post it here. The Mac client is a must-get-done ASAP priority. It's the single-largest revenue generating event short of a total expansion they could do.
  4. What exactly do I need to know about "micro-processing technology" to play a video game? The answer is zero. Macs are for people who do much more with their computer that play video games. Macs are for people who value, value. Macs are for people who just want their computer to work.
  5. They don't have a decent amount of Mac users playing, I can guarantee you that. Further, when you call support and reveal you're playing on a Mac through Boot Camp, they do not support you. Finally, remember the Doctors have all but revealed it already. They stated the importance of the Mac market and their intent to serve it next... yes, they missed the big boat. But there are still a few dinghies they can catch.
  6. The "risk" seemed to work for Blizzard. And Valve. And id. And countless others.
  7. Because only a tiny fraction of a fraction of Mac users will buy Windows to run on Boot Camp. There are millions of Mac WoW players, and BioWare would have had them had they made the right decisions and had some foresight.
  8. This time is much, MUCH different. It's actually happening. I never said the high-end market won't exist... but it will be a niche of a niche, more than it is now. That means fewer choices for those gamers. It is a withering market.
  9. Cost doesn't matter... the 5 million people per quarter that buy a Mac already spent the money. So why not give them a game to buy... and subscribe to?
  10. And... that changes my statements how? The end of the Microsoft-controlled gaming era is coming to an end. That means PC gaming will change forever, and there will be fewer and fewer of the types of games that require certain hardware or software, because developers will choose to make their code base portable, not stagnate on in platform - because that platform will not be dominant any longer. There are more significant revenue opportunities elsewhere.
  11. People do more... much more... than play game with their computers. And in fact, TOR isn't a game for "gamers". You're foolish if you bought your computer just for game. Current Mac hardware can run the game on max settings, so... yeah. There's no defense for not supporting the Mac.
  12. Sorry, not listed: March 15: http://www.baldursgate.com/news/2012/03/15/announcing-baldurs-gate-enhanced-edition/
  13. Actually, it hasn't been announced for the PC at all... certainly not first. The official site hasn't been updated with it at all. Interesting, huh? iPad was the first goal of the release, it made the Mac version easy, and the Windows version will be for nostalgia - and use no proprietary Microsoft tech. Just as I said.
  14. Ah, but there is... and it will be greater. As developers assure their titles can run on iOS and maybe even Android, they're going to drop Microsoft tech like a rock. It won't be an overnight process, but it will, and is happening right now. The future is very different from the past. I am not claiming the Mac itself will be a dominant gaming platform any time soon, but just the fact that developers are dropping all of the infrastructure that Microsoft worked so long and hard to secure means the future market is wide open. Right now they are different style games (more popular games mind you - casual social games will sell an order of magnitude more than "AAA" titles) So as that continues to manifest itself, there will be fewer and fewer "hard core" games because the hardware and software needed to play them will be less prevalent. Most players will have hardware - even a tablet - that will solve nearly all of their gaming needs potential. It's going to radically change high-end PC gaming forever. It'll be too late by then. First, I am a real professional. Second, you have to understand more about the dynamics than most actually do - and be willing to take forward steps. Not live in the past. Oh, and Balder's Gate Enhanced is coming to Windows http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/3/23/2895827/baldurs-gate-ipad-enhanced-edition http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/116361-Beamdog-Boss-Reveals-More-About-Baldurs-Gate-Enhanced-Edition https://twitter.com/#!/TrentOster Confirmed and focusing on PC first, announcement for Ipad and Mac OSX came later. So yeah, not a good example of what you are trying to say. Actually it's an excellent example. It was announced for the iPad first, the Mac second. In fact, there is still no announcement of any kind about a Windows version on the official site... odd, that: http://www.baldursgate.com/ I'm sure it will be, and I'm also sure it was written with the iOS platform in mind first, and will use no Microsoft proprietary technology. The future is happening.
  15. I will spend all the money in the world when there is VALUE to be had. Do you know what VALUE means? I mean, truly, do you? There is no VALUE in buying Windows. As a matter of fact it removes value from my system because I have to boot out of my Mac, which creates VALUE for me, to use it. And TOR carries absolutely zero value with it... So no, I'm not going to spend $200 extra dollars, not because I can't afford it - I most certainly can. But because it delivers no VALUE to me.
  16. What I pay for my hardware is of ZERO concern to you. And I have news for you - TOR isn't a hardcore game. TOR isn't a taxing game. It runs on a toaster. ANY current Mac hardware can run around blindfolded and run TOR on max settings. So take the spew elsewhere, it's not what this thread is about. BioWare's co-founders have acknowledged the importance of the Mac market and their intent to serve it. Deal with it.
  17. What does cost have to do with anything? And don't be naive - TOR was not released on the Mac. That's what we're asking for, and that's what BioWare is planning on doing.
  18. I enjoy it immensely. TOR is soooo bloody boring I honestly can't see how anyone can actually enjoy it.
  19. "What with day/night cycles, more raids, arenas, non phased/instanced areas, and other features" Case opened. Read harder.
  20. Not talking about content. Features and priorities.
  21. Thanks for response, that is truly great! Many players don't consider certain things you're doing "things to do" but instead complain that there's nothing to do, when in fact there is TONS to actually do, as you just pointed out. Can I ask one more question... is this your first MMO, or do you have previous experience?
  22. I never played on Boot Camp, and never would. Don't want to stain my Mac with that crap. My account was cancelled a month ago. Once you see me stop posting here, that's the last you'll see of me, because the account will finally have caught up with the cancellation.
  23. I believe you missed a certain interview with the BioWare co-founders.
  24. Just curious, and this is an honest question. What exactly do you find so engaging that you can't wait to get back home to play? We've all had that feeling with our favorite games, and unfortunately it didn't happen to me at all with TOR. So I am trying to understand. What compels you?
  25. But see, those hardcore players prefer a challenge... if you can just configure a character any-old-way and have success, that kind of diminishes the entire point of having classes... or stats. There would be no real challenge. If you just feel like plodding through an interactive story book, then this may be all you want. But is that community big enough to support this game for years, and to support it in a way that all of BioWare's wildest content plans can be realized?
