  1. I supposed you don't mind the lack of pesky players cluttering up the feel and look of the game either, since there's nothing to do without world events and holidays. They already said world event and these kinds of things are very high on their priority list... so, get ready.
  2. The lack of that holiday "crap" is a huge component of why the game world feels lifeless.
  3. Yeah, it's pretty contradictory all around... you're heroic - but not heroic enough to fight that generic Imperial army guy without your companion. #1 reason I dislike the game is because of requirements to use companions.
  4. Possibly. I think since the poster was looking for Mac OS X native games and there aren't any offered here, that was a logical answer.
  5. The post will obviously be removed, because it's off topic, and I don't believe you want to get into a pissing match on how many Windows machines are infected - even as a percentage of installed base.
  6. You can't have it both ways. The only way to speak is with your wallet - cancel your account until the game is available as a native Mac OS X version. Otherwise there's no incentive for BioWare to do one.
  7. Uh, no. Why should Mac users support the game by paying a subscription when you have to jump through hoops like that, and to top it off you wouldn't even be supported in return. Only a fool... laughable. What you meant to say is anyone who wants to play great games on the Mac go here: http://blizzard.com
  8. Being incomplete and being different aren't the same thing.
  9. When I buy a car, or a toaster or any other product, I don't expect to have to "give it time" to be competitive with other cars or toasters that I would have bought.
  10. Doesn't it blow anyone else's mind that we're trying to solve problems here that were solved 5-10 years ago already?
  11. Almost seems like this is something that should be built into the game... maybe not something paying players would have to take an "initiative" with, eh?
  12. You don't have to play if you don't find it of value you know. Cancel and come back when you feel it's ready.
  13. I don't think "mini-games" are the answer, per se... but I do think social, non-combat activities that get players out into the world with each other is the right thing to focus on. Mini games could be a part of that, but the overall goal should be alternate activities in the world that bring players together.
  14. Oh, I agree with you 100%... I love that stuff. It's the stuff that makes it feel more like a world than just a game. Unfortunately, it ended up the polar opposite of SWG and while there's "potential" the core design of the game doesn't take this stuff into account. Even if there was a hobby such as fishing (or something Star Warsy) at launch to get people out in the world and do casual/social progression during down time... but there was no priority given to it. That worries me about the "potential."
  15. I was thinking more along the lines of filled with players... They can't afford to take players out of the world when there is content (multilayer content) out there to do. You need them out adventuring, which ultimate is the design of this game. It's not a sit-in-the-cantina game, they need you out there playing for the health of the game.
  16. The problem is not so much that the game starts at level 1, but rather than it ends at level 50 (or before.)
  17. I think BioWare would want the world filled before worrying about filling the cantinas.
  18. Sorry. Gonna challenge you here. Your shadows look just as bad and as blocky as in the OP's screenshots, no matter what machine you have. Of course, you could prove me wrong by posting a couple screenshots pretty easily, right?
  19. You could probably let him sit down and create a character on your account to test it out...
  20. I can't believe it even has to be said, but in story driven game, the reward is the story. If it isn't then this entire game and concept of a story driven MMO has failed miserably.
  21. The leveling game is designed to be solo... there's no "help" needed, and of course if you just want to go hang out with them you can do it right now. In other words, it's unnecessary.
  22. TOR is establishing it's own audience, though currently much smaller. It isn't affecting WoW nearly as much, if at all, as I think most expected.
  23. Why do you need to try it if you can read the notes and not see anything that is a priority for you begin addressed?
  24. http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/01/02/bioware-mac-version-of-star-wars-the-old-republic-is-something/ ""I'd say 'not yet,'" Zeschuk assured me when I told him that, as a BioWare fan, I'm unable to play The Old Republic on my less than two-year-old MacBook." "We've done a lot of Mac ports before of our games. We haven't announced any details yet for The Old Republic, but we know that's an important and large audience."
