  1. Annoyances. Purposefully placed in an entertainment product? Why? To make it less entertaining? Hm, no - even if that's the case, it doesn't seem like a good idea.
  2. This. "S" was the least used key on my WASD until the game started having me run planet to planet with that damn droid forcing me to press CTRL+S every time I enter or leave my ship. I want to stab it. And then repair it so I can stab it again.
  3. Install Boot Camp & Windows and it actually becomes a Windows PC (as in "personal computer"). Difficult concept for some, apparently.
  4. Just go somewhere you're able to summon the companion you want to compare with, and click Settings -> User Interface -> Tooltip -> Enable Companion Comparative Tooltips
  5. It wasn't, but now that you're here, it will be. Nice attitude.
  6. Right there with you. Along with a bunch of others, judging from other threads on the same subject
  7. I want him off my ship. Or at least give me the means to rip out his speech synthesizer module with a can opener - I can't stand being on my ship because of that bloody droid. "Good to see you, Master!" - Deactivate. "Excellent! I was just wondering what I could do to please you!" - Deactivate!" "Excellent! I was just wondering what I could do to please you!" - DEACTIVATE!" "Excellent! I was just wondering what I could do to please you!" - DEEEEAAAAAACTIVAAAAATE!!! Not even Sith are scary while popping a coronary. Ps in case of dev: No, I do NOT want him "less chatty". I want him silent.
  8. Lecturing people about multi-boxing and stupidity while never having heard about the term "dual-boxing" (let me guess, you've only ever frequented one single forum on the subject?), getting "you're" and "your" mixed up AND failing the quote tag "Turing test"? That's about as ironic as your attitude is s**t.
  9. Can I have your brain? I like the way it's wired :3
  10. The thing about time thievery is that a second here and a second there adds up to a whole lot of annoyance. Kinda like how the average web surfer makes up an opinion about your site in 1.5-3 seconds. If that time is spent in an arbitrary limbo (ie. loading), you and your site are screwed. Seconds. Fractions of them. Time is the most precious thing I have - do what ever you want to do with yours, but don't waste mine.
  11. vBulletin. Freetext searches are resource hogs. They can't even keep the main web site alive when they get request spikes.
  12. The text in bold IS the official answer as far as I'm concerned. Why would they disallow their own (or their partners) products?
  13. It wasn't even around the 24th/25th. Christmas (Christ's. Mass. How did you miss that one?) is irrelevant, and forcing the celebration of Jesus' birth on an international audience is an insult. No really. Unless we're ALSO celebrating the creation of LaVey's church, certain pagan holidays, etc etc ad nauseum. Good luck with setting a budget on that. The MINUTE I see a a fat guy in a white beard going "ho-ho-ho" in this game, I'm moving somewhere they've never heard of America. What's next? Skyrim, the "X-mas" DLC?!
  14. You are the first person I've ever seen as long as I've been playing MMO's (incl. MUDs) that is genuinely surprised by this. This is like asking "how did the cold war start". Your sense of perspective is.. Well, I don't even know where to begin. Even a newcomer to STORY TELLING as a 4000+ year old literary discipline should see this coming.
  15. Modifications that that change the game client in a way BW did not intend are cheats. Modifications that make use of the game API BW will provide later on are NOT cheats.
  16. NB: This ended up being a bit of a rant, hope I've managed to break it up a bit (flechettes or slugs, I still can't decide what my face would prefer). There's a TL;DR at the bottom somewhere. The video makes me think the creator's porch is missing his banjo playing, even though there's nothing southern about his accent. I'm categorizing this the same as the typical kind of feedback you get from certain people when you mention the SWTOR branded, BW/LA endorsed, fully scriptable/programmable Razer gear. Your counterpart will usually end up producing a bit of drool during the conversation. Be weary. Modifications and reinterpretations, and in this case addons (addons, try telling Mozilla "it's not called addons"), are one of the best sources of income and inspiration(/frustration) for ANY kind of professionally creative person. User created/implemented content, people! Where would Winamp be today without skinners? Where would google/twitter/facebook/flickr be today without APIs?! Where would Something Awful/4chan be without a troll* or 194.000? Where would LucasArts be without the expanded universe!? If the original creator is lacking in any area, the fans are sure to let them know (Jar Jar, Whisky Tango Foxtrot). The creators should be, and often are, proud that people care enough to expand (respectfully) on the original creation. On their own free time, even. Some sort of modding IS coming for SWTOR, like it or not. BW doesn't have any choice but to include some sort of user content. It's become a genre norm. It's expected. They have to level the playing field between the haves and don't-haves, both considering non-detectable malicious software and officially sanctioned hardware. If they don't open their client a bit, someone WILL figure out how to insert binary code directly into their (rather leaky) memspace at runtime. It happens all the time in other games. Anyone heard of "trainers" for single player games? Heck, most of this community use "hacks" every day with sites like torhead.com, tor-spy.com and db.darthhater.com (in this case, hackers = people that know the client software well enough to have gone rummaging through the binary data to provide you with the information you see on their sites, let's not start with the hacker/cracker semantics discussion ). To take this even further, reading a strategy guide to gain an advantage during raids could be considered cheating. Where does it end? Do we ban people for pressing space during grouped NPC conversations as that gives them a chance to evaluate their alternatives before those that don't press space? TL;DR: Get some perspective (batteries not included, apparently)! * A troll usually won't go trolling, just as a fisherman usually won't sit underneath bridges eating Christians -- unless the fishing industry has started recruiting from the mythological sector. If that's the case, then never mind. PS: Pardon my English. I'm Norwegian.
  17. Who's playing the wrong genre here? You make a decision and stick with it, that's MMO's. There's much less room for going back on things than in single player games, and if your respec price is THAT high - I'm not buying that this is all due to "experimenting" (unless you're suffering from some sort of attention disorder, in which case, hm figures). What's next? Complaining about the lack of savegames?
  18. Credit farmers would also play both sides (see what I did there?) - let's not give them free tools to move their stock around.
  19. Lemme guess; you didn't attend the beta? This is nothing, hehe
  20. Thank you. We both like pragmatism it seems.
  21. Christ. CTRL-Ux2. You've never worked any sort of code professionally, nor have you seen another MMO launch. Fine. We get it.
  22. "Failed". "Lazy". "Incompetent". Strong words. I'm no fanboy -- but, come on. Get a grip. Be reasonable.
  23. It's fine. In every MMO, bagspace is a luxury. Pick up slicing and be happy this one's a lot nicer to lowbies than your average MMO.
