Dungeon Finder Needed Badly.

I guess I would be ok with a same server LFD, however I was there for the destruction of the wow community thanks to LFD (and other services like name change/faction change etc).

Sure, there were some bad apples on your server but they soon got a bad reputation and no good guild would have them and they were on everyones blacklist. However, because of LFD and LFR the bad apples no longer needed a guild and therefore there was no longer any repercussion for behaving horribly.

I will forver condemn a cross server LFD, those in support of a cross server LFD are those that want to behave horribly without repercussion....

I don't care if its cross server or server only, just get me a group, without it taking longer than running the actual flashpoint.

And dude, this is a strong statement, do you really believe that? If so, I can't help you.

A ninja, is a ninja, is a ninja... a respectable player doesn't turn into a ninja just because he used a tool to get into the group (speak for yourself, maybe that how you roll) but I don't, and I'm sure other exists that don't as well.

Ya i see no reason at all for cross server.

Same server

putting a bad apple on your ignore list blacklists them from your random que's so you dont have to group with them again. And you can spread the word if you deem needed to others. That would effectively stop all of the crap that happened in wow's cross server.

LFD didnt destroy the wow community its the same as it always was, the LFD just let you do more dungeons in a larger population pool so you had a higher chance of seeing d bags. Nothing changed just like nothing will change if it is implemented here.

ummm no that is not how I roll, that was the point I was trying to make about people wanting cross server LFD, it promotes bad attitude and behaviour. If it were a same server LFD (which i wouldn't object to) then if people do ninja, grief or just be an all round jerk then they would soon get a bad name for themselves on said server and they would pay the price for it.

Which is why i said those in advocating for a cross server LFD are most likely the types that want to ninja, grief etc without suffering any repercussions.

I beg to differ, like i said there were a few nasties on our server pre LFD but they did get a bad rep and were [pretty much forced to re-roll some place else.

Soon after LFD arrived the amount of trolls, griefers, ninjas etc on the server I played on started to rise immensly, they knew they could behave like that because they would always find a group thanks to LFD.

Pre-LFD they had to behave, after they showed their true colors, like I said, i don't object to same server LFD but cross server DOES ruin communities.

Video game socialism? Seriously, people expect the same social benefits in a new game right out the box that often took them up to years to accomplish in the last game they played.

The answer is have a little patience, play well, and be respectful.

If I have to spend a lot of time and effort just to have a chance at enjoying the game, it isn't worth it. I would rather do something else. I don't have to play this game. I do it because I thought it would be fun(and leveling is a lot of fun). I don't want to log on and spend an 30 minutes to an hour spamming in chat in order to have a chance to run an instance.

For me(and a significant portion of the population), the answer is instead to ask Bioware for features we want in game. If we don't get them, we will just unsubscribe.

And while you may not care now, I guarantee that Bioware will generate much less content for the game with 100k subscribers than they will with a million.

Cross server is a must due to population imbalance. BW cant shut down or merge servers because of the PR nightmare it causes.

Just imagine auto group LFG and theres always a mix of those who want to spacebar through the dialog and those who don't. Yeah that would be loads of fun, worth NOT waiting for. Just imagine a mix of people who want to do LS or DS in each group thrown together with a click of a button. People on the server I play are already forming guilds for the LS/DS purpose alone. I would ask anyone to think through what theyre asking for when asking for auto group LFG, but that of course takes up their valuable time doesen't it?

I've done all flashpoints up to level 50, except the last 3, at least once and I haven't seen either issue arise. I didn't even think LS/DS is a thing, personally, I like a bit of diversity in my group.

Someone please tell me two semi successful MMOs who added auto group LFG that didn't take it cross server.

What are you trying to say ? I don't see how one has anything to do with the other.

Having all of the flashpoint entrances grouped together on your fleet not convenient enough for you?

That has nothing to do with what we are discussing.

We already have a LFG tool, get that through your head.

There isn't one good thing about it, and half a dozen things that are bad.

This is just not true. If someone is a D-bag in a game that doesen't have an auto group LFG, they don't get away with it for long. Server reputation in mmos became a thing of the past with the auto group LFG. If you were actually interested in being honest you would acknowledge that but you want what you want and you want it now.

I don't see how the two are connected. If someone is a jerk he'll get a bad reputation whether there are auto-invites or not.

If everyone felt that way then LFD would have been a failure. People would have kept making groups on their own and just ignored the feature. However, this isn't what happened. The vast majority of the players loved the convenience of the feature and were willing to live with the trolls.

Way more fun to play with than someone who treats or talks to you like dung during an instance because auto grouping makes you expendable.

Exactly. People would rather run an instance in 30 minutes with trolls then spend twice as much time trying to organizes groups. Otherwise, people will just choose not to use LFD and it won't affect the game.

That really has nothing to do with the LFD it has everything to do with an influx in the population of the game the unfortunate truth is that every game has d bags and ninjas but the percentage of the population that are is about the same between games. At the time wow had ~12million players and unfortunately that means that they had a higher d bag count than this game has subscribers.

A lfd tool is going to happen. Its just a matter of time as BW gets up to speed.

Every major mmo today has a lfd tool of some sort. It is a common mmo tool in todays market. With out its its like buying a TV and finding out once you got home that there was no remote!

Inside the box is a note saying that the company feels that people are getting lazy so they decided to not include a remote so you have to get up to change channels or volume.

I don't see what a dungeon finder has to do with the destruction of community. Can you elaborate on your strange comment?

If you played for example wow before the dungeon finder (cross realm) and after then you know what he is talking about.

People are getting too crazy on the "Preserve a good community".

Just because YOU want to wait 1-6 hrs to find a group, doesn't mean we should. If the argument was "I want cross server LFG" vs "It destroys our community" then fine, that is 100% understandable.

But, when the argument transforms into "I want a single server LFG" vs a "People are getting too lazy and I was able to wait 6 hrs back in the day, so you should to", then that is so wrong.

In no way, does that destroy a community. If a person ninjas, he will be known as a ninja. All someone has to do, is announce it to everyone. If someone doesn't want to wait 1-6 hrs to find a group, then more power to them. Personally, my limitations are 2 hrs MAX(for a flashpoint), and 6-8hrsMAX(For an Operation, which I haven't done yet).

Stop being selfish. The only thing that I would accept as an argument vrsing single server is this: Allow level 40's-50's to use it only. That way, you can build up your friendships for 29 levels. However, the lower levels would start complaining, but that would be for another thread.

Back in the day, PS2 online, we never had a mic. We had to communicate either by "messaging before a matchup", or "Jumping up and down/shooting at something".

Just because I never used a mic(They had them, but it was a late bloomer), I don't / never complained that Xbox/PS3 users shouldn't use them. How would you feel if TV remotes were never invented? Would you argue that's a good thing because people are becoming too lazy? Hey, who needs cars, when people had horses, they were able to converse with eachother while riding.

Why have your own private house? I feel as if every person should live in the same home, and get to know eachother. You know, because if a family decides to live within their own house, then there won't be as much communication.

Also, get rid of cell phones/house phones, along with the Internet. People should instead, walk / ride their horse to their friends house and see if they can hangout. It's worth wasting 30 minutes riding/walking to their house only to find out that they can't. It's the communication that matters.

Cross server Dungeon Finders, Raid Finders, Life Finders, etc. makes it entirely too easy for riff raff to get away with what riff raff does. Having the queues restricted to same servers puts consequences back into people's actions. I believe that is one of the key "community" concerns being expressed, and is more than valid in evironments where people coexist - virtually or otherwise. Edited by GalacticKegger
