Not every mission is a mission?

One of the seasonal objectives this week is to complete 15 missions as a Jedi Consular or Sith Inquisitor origin.  I just finished chapter VII of Fallen Empire and I am currently running around talking to all of the specialists in my base (Hylo, Orogub, etc).  Each of these has a mission and, after talking to them, the Mission Complete box comes up and I accept it.  However, none of these are increasing the count for the seasonal objective.

Which missions are actually missions and which aren't?

Heroics and the 1st three chapters count.

The choose a 2nd combat style one counts which I found somewhat amusing.

Repeatable exploration missions on the base game planets count. I tend to do it with newer characters who can still benefit from them, myself. Otherwise, Heroics.

Conversations with the companions on your ship also count.

Sometimes.   Not all of Treek's or HK's count towards the GS objectives for me on my Sith Inquis and Sith Warrior weekly

Wz gsf arena weeklies flashpoints and bonus objectives also count

I found out Flashpoints count.

They count as 5 missions each.

Then you are either doing something wrong like using a different Origin Story character without realizing or it is a bug, because all the conversations from Treek and HK-51 work fine for me.

Normally, Flashpoint itself counts as one point. In addition, bonus missions within a Flashpoint count as one each. If the Flashpoints you listed have four bonus missions within, that would make for a total of five points. However, it would mean fewer points for those who skip bonus missions.

nice, create a new character, run through the intro conversation (maybe a point there) then take a second class, delete, repeat.

I'd been saving the convos for those NPC's for GS weeklies ( do 15 mission for x class ) and have the counter up, and they don't always tick off.

I just went through every single conversation with Treek and HK-51 and every single one of them counted towards the GS Weekly to complete missions on Warrior/Knight and Inquisitor/Consular characters. Even the introductory conversation when you pick up Treek in the Cartel Bazaar on the fleet counted towards that objective. I even confirmed that it is independent of whether your character is max level or not and whether that character has already finished the Origin story or not. So it is definitely something on your end.

Unlocking the creature and droid cartel companions in the fleet bazaar counts. I usually just do that on an alt if I’m not in the mood to run a specific class. That supposes you’ve unlocked them all in collections of course.
