To all the people upset about the new gearing system

I present to you the actual gearing progression of 5.0: Crafting.

You can get the recipies for 228 rating items from dismantling vendor items.

These items only require relatively cheap materials and are cheap to buy from other players.

Full 228 should be more than enough for the easier hm operations if not all if you have a good enough group.

Hm operations drop schematics for 234 rating item modifications. These require more expensive materials, but worry not as those materials are dropped in said operations.

If you do not get desired schematics you can usually trade your newly gained materials with crafters of other guilds for whatever pieces you are missing.

234 gear is enough to beat the easier bosses of nim operations, which will drop schematics for 240 rating item modifications.

Need I say more?

The rng of the command crates isn't stopping anyone from starting their gearing.

And if you're a dedicated pvper worried that this is all about operations worry not since the bolster currently in place in all the layers of pvp is enough to even match bis players.

uhm, crafting the top end stuff requires you get the schematics from an rng lockbox, getting the materials and be willing to wait for a staggering time for the object(s) to be crafted.

so you replace one type of grind for another which are both tied to the same system.

You're wasting your breath, as this has been laid out in detail ad nauseam, nobody cares to hear it. They just want to ***** about the boxes, as evidenced by the two posters above me.

The crafting part of the process actually does not take long at all. Usually 5-10 min per item depending on your companions influence.

While the schematic drop from the bosses seems to be random, you have to remember that even a single drop could potentially serve a whole server if the crafter is willing to put in the time (for great profits).

And altough gathering the materials might be a bit of a grind, it has nothing to do with rng, with the possible exception of rolling on them in a pug group (a form of rng in game since launch)

Is there an echo in here? Been hearing that for five years.

Well, in all fairness it turns out it rang pretty true just before the launch of the Market/FTP. Even Bioware admitted it saved the game, which lends credence to the idea that player numbers had dropped to drastically low numbers at that point.

It is not always hyperbole....however in this case, and this is just my opinion, the amount of hardcore players remaining in this game is a minority.

That does not mean what they feel or want is irrelevant...only that the impact of them leaving is not as likely to be as dramatic as the exodus prior to F2P.

I agree. Note, I'm not cackling here. I wish it had been the "WoW" of Star Wars that it was clearly intended to be. But that didn't happen.

Now, to avoid taking the thread off topic, I'm going to reiterate (less sarcastically) that OP is right. I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy new armor, mods and enhancements were to r/e and how easy it was to get the mats. Crew missions on my platoon of alts got enough mats to upgrade all my toons crafting skills without ever leaving the stronghold.

Until you can craft set bonuses, you're wrong. Crafting is subpar.

I agree. Altough not a big deal for players who got their 224 set from kotfe. New players will definitely suffer from having to rely on the rng to get theirs.

Making a set bonus that is available without rng should be something for bw to consider adding.

But aside from that the effects of bonuses are for most specialisations fairly minimal and not absolutely required.

the higher 230+ gear schematics are in the rng lockbox.

We won't know this until someone actually has BiS gear, sometime in Juneish.

Ah, I wasn't talking about those schematics. I was talking about the ones directly dropping from hm and nim operation bosses and I think 234 can come from ranked daily/weekly boxes too.

But anyway, the beauty of crafting is that you don't personally need to get the schematics. Someone else eventually will and then they can make as many as they want as long as they have the materials and time to do so.

but.. but.. I thought this expansion was all about inclusiveness? giving all players a chance at best gear! casual players being able to get the best gear in a game "aftergrindingformonthsnonstop"

schematics OP mentions are ops only. aka - not only unattainable by average player, but what they craft is also unnafordable. and... we are back to square one, with inclusivity argument flying RIGHT out the window.

They will then sell them, or do you think they will just be given away like candy at Christmas?

You are living on fantasy island man.
