dark vs light event: reward items bound? I got a lightsaber bound for my operative

I was real salty at level 25 when i got a sniper rifle on a Jedi Knight, But when i hit level 50 I got some pretty dank stuff so am I salty about the event? Bet. Am I as salty as i was when i got a sniper rifle on a jedi knight? No

Give the Sniper Rifle to HK. That's pretty much all you could possibly do with it on a Jedi Knight. :(

What a poorly planned event.

 

[*]Dark Vs Light Pack bind rules - The reason we chose to go with BoP over BoL for these items is Collections. Currently, BoL items do not work towards a Collection unlock. If we had the items be BoL then you could not have combined the event packs with any other items to complete a Collection set. We agree this is not optimal and we are working on ways to solve this moving forward.

They better work on this fast then. I don't see how the items non usable by characters as reported by above posters feel 'rewarding'

So my Jedi Knight just got 5 packs which contained:

 

3 totally horrible XP boosts - Space, Exploration and Social.

2 blue companion gifts.

1 coolish mount a Hyroti which would be ok except she already has the perfect mount for her personality

2 of the exact same gun - one unusable gun would be bad enough

1 green indistructable crystal (I am a dark DPS so want evil colours and crit/pow)

1 cool decoration

I also ended up getting an assault cannon on my event character but the nice thing was once i pulled it out of the box it was considered added to collections

 

Same thing for me. When I opened them and it was "bound", it was in my collections. All three of the weapons I got (none of which are even useful for the character!) are in my collections.

yah this entire event is effin stupid and is obvious that they know people will spend more cc's to unlock things they get on a character that can actually use it.

 

It's disgusting...and obvious being it co-insides with CM packs going up in price, heroic credit nerf, etc...

 

Gotta love BioWare Austin, just more proof they have no business running an MMO.

sad fact is we are over run with company greed, not just in gaming companies but here too, politicians all bought and paid for so companies can screw us over and they know there is nothing we can do. There is a handful of gaming companies, they know we gamers will not quit gaming so we deal with it and they know we will. Use to be companies compete with each other and we the customer win and the company wins that puts most effort to make best product for customers, now they just sit in rooms and agree to X, Y, Z then customers randomly pick a company no better or worse to be equally screwed.

I found two times Remulus upper set, and two times the same weapon.

 

I'm very angry for this rewards system, it show how they are noobs to make this game.

 

Why it's so hard for games developers to do something good for the players?

So you said to check your collections on items. Well i pulled a Kreia's robes and gloves from a reward pack, went and bought the rest of the items, and it shows i dont own the robes or the gloves. So what was the point of spending all that hard earned in game cash on items when i cant even unlock the item with CC?

lol my operative got the lower half of Kreia's set. The idea of a Chiss operative walking around in that is humorous at least. :D

 

That said....I would have preferred to transfer it to my sage or sell it to help my guild with our Tat SH savings fun. :mad:

I felt that I needed to bring my peddle to the mound.

 

I too have been puzzled by the fact that some pieces of equipment from the DvsL lootbox don't seem

to register into your collection. It would be nice if something was done to adress that issue.

 

As it stands I'm playing the game through a class that my palate does not find very enjoyable, running a story

that feels even less so (to my taste). Most of this to get an extra buff, some unlocks and enjoy the DvsL event (chosen mostly at random, such is life).

 

The fact that I'm receiving bound pieces of armor that do not factor into collections (and also the fact that I would need a WHOLE set of them before being able to share a SINGLE piece around) feels both highly penalizing and highly demoralizing considering the character I'm on is going to end in the closet for the better part of the rest of eternity.

 

All that without even taking into account the fact you would need to UNLOCK the collection after HYPOTHETICALLY acquiring all set pieces.

 

To say the least it would be nice if something was done to make this more... accessible and rewarding.

Money. Welcome to a game financed by a cash shop run by morons to lazy to add new items for their rigged casino game. I am amazing anyone spends IRL money on cartel items. I get that to an extent. At least you know what you are buying. To literally pay a company money to open a "digital" package and pray to RNJesus to give you that item? Are you really that much of a gambler/sucker? To add on that none of what you paid for provides any in-game boost or benefit? I'm not sure I understand how that is legal, let alone how you willingly participate in that system.

I got a blaster cannon but its useless to him, my trooper could use it... BUT WAIT, you have to equip an item before you can unlock it in collections, so how TF am I supposed to do that?

Have to chuckle along with you... I got stuff that my IA can't use either, would think that maybe there would be an unbound after, like the 48 hours on Cartel or Legacy stuff so that maybe you could transfer it to another toon to use...

Yeah, the whole "must equip to unlock" part seems to be a BIG oversight.

"easiest" way would be to have a slot (like guild banks) where you can "donate" to your legacy. i.e drag/drop a bound CM item into it and it becomes "added to collections" you would still need to pay to unlock, but I think that would be the easiest way to get past the "equip to unlock" since it is BOP it should be no different than BOE that is equipped. I.e as long as it is bound, you can add it to collections (for CM items only).

That's actually quite brilliant DOH! I love that suggestion. Eats up the item, but allows it to be unlocked. GREAT idea!!!

well, let me clarify "easiest" its the most straight forward as not to break how the game currently operates and still meet the intent of the DvL packs, but fixes the problem with having to unlock bound items you cant use.

 

now being "easiest" to implement probably not so, so I wouldn't expect anything like that to implemented, but would also fix problems where have bound items across a legacy, but can't unlock the entire thing in collections.

I received two of the same mounts in one pack. I do unlock mounts and use them on multiple characters, but I can't do anything with the second one; not even sell it to a vendor. My choices are to let it collect dust in storage, or destroy it. Previously we were told that if we got two of any cartel market item then we could sell the second on the GTN. These are classified as cartel market items, but there is nothing to do with duplicates.

One idea is a vendor that you can trade a duplicate for something like it, as in trade one silver quality speeder for a different silver quality speeder. Or even get a bound to legacy token for a silver level speeder. For the legacy problems you can make it like ops gear that is bound, but can be traded within the ops group for the length of the timer. The equivalent here would be to have it bound, but with a two hour bound to legacy timer.

I dont understand why they cant make the rewards bound to legacy or make rewards class specific to the character that got the reward, its not like it would be that hard, this game just has lazy developers. Edited by LeeLoou

I got exceptionally lucky and got Satele Shan's uppers and lowers in the boxes I got upon reaching level 50, after buying the belt off the GTN to complete the set I find I cannot unlock it in collections. My collections tab tells me I have only the belt unlocked. It would appear that armour is flat out useless even if you are willing to pay real world money to unlock the item for your account. I can't speak for weapons, but as far as I can tell none of the armour I have received from dvl reward boxes has counted in collections. Mounts have and the one and only crystal I have received (I have six of the same one) is also there in collections but armour, not a single piece of it has counted - not even the complete ugly set I shoved on Kira has unlocked in collections.

 

I'm not sure what use the random armour from these boxes is if you can't use it, or won't use it on your character, can't send it to another character that can, and can't unlock it for your account in collections.

I think I read that the cartel armor and lightvdark side event armor are different collections, I could be wrong. So no mixing and matching which just make them even more pointless, cause the odd of getting the whole set are pretty low. I don't get why they don't make them legacy bound. Like many other I keep getting objects on the wrong type of character force vs non-force user. If they had made them legacy bound at least they be a little useful, even through a lot of it I already have unlock. I'd say for me these rewards have been complete useless, so I rate this event the worst out of all of them. Both for reward and actual you known making a new event, instead regrind everything we already did. I'm happy for those who are getting nice things. Edited by SithEmpress
