LvD Event and Why I'm Leaving SWTOR

But, they made it tedious for vets and overwhelming for noobs.

It's been tedious for vets for awhile now hasn't it? So with or without this event the tedium continues, yes? If they give vets all the rewards retroactively that still doesn't cure their tedium, does it?

As for overwhelming new players? Yeah, some aspects certainly, but it's not impossible. I know I'll never get top tiers. I've played this game on and off for 4 or 5 years now and I've never done a single operation and avoid PvP at all cost.

I never asked for anything to be given retroactively. Yes, that would be boring and pointless.

All I've ever asked for is that they designed the event better and let us use existing characters.

You're far more gracious than I am...all I ask for is new group content, since this is an MMO after all.

Good for you OP! I hope others follow your example. This games days are very numbered - development has ceased. EA hasn't invested in this game for years. The "story" content is a trickle of leftover content that is cheap to finish and it gives the illusion of continued development.

this is downright a bit exageration... EA payed for the BLUR trailer... AND there is new content EVERY MONTH, just because you dont like it doesnt make it new.

Yeah, I ended my sub last week as well.

I'm not giving money to this game anymore, there are so many better MMOs that are not sub to play (because this is not F2P) but the story kept me for a while, then this pile of bantha crap of an event showed up...

Every other MMO has events where you do new things for new rewards or recurring events with a couple new rewards to keep them fresh. But this event!!? It screams "we have run out of ideas, just have them play the whole game from scratch, that will keep them going until we pull something out of our @ss for new content.."

What good did the blur video do for the game exactly? None. Have YOU seen an uptick in players? Of course not. They can make all the new videos they want, but until they invest in this new group content (this is an MMO I'll remind you), it'll do no good.

honestly no one cares you are leaving swtor sorry for my brutal honesty this is just as laughable as when people in game tell you they're going to ignore you before putting you on ignore...like who are you that anyone will miss?

That is incorrect. Some people do care when people leave especially if they have interacted with them in the forums and they tend to be a very good poster even if you disagree with them. It is one thing for you not to care but some will and the more people that continue to leave over this the less people there will be and then what?

Uptick of players?

This is game is infamous for it's horribly restrictive F2P model, it's the bench mark for stealth Sub to Play.

SWTOR has a horrible image, the lack of any kind of new group content and horribly designed events like this are gonna make sure word of mouth remains "avoid this MMO".

I assume most of the players leaving, will also be the same players writing the I am leaving threads next event?

I wouldn't bet on that. There are at least two people that have never said they were cancelling their subs that have this time and I doubt you will see them past their subs.

In addition there are already two that cancelled their subs back in February and you could check their post history and noticed they have not posted since.

For a long time now I have not been discouraged but simply digested by the lack of any thought into the game I have enjoyed called swtor. The OP is spot on. Sadly mindless drones will continue to pump money into the game via the most important cartel market.

its sorta sad that people will still defend BW austin for what they are pushing out and making people pay for.

A very well earned reputation. This is what happens when you flat out ignore your customers like Bioware has.

All a lot of us want is being able to use our existing characters. Very few have asked for the rewards retroactively I wouldn't mind that so much if I could use my characters I have already. Maybe one or two new ones but come on I rather play on my toons I have spent years gearing and especially if I need to run the hardmodes and operations. They are geared with all their augments and have all their outfits in the outfit designer which to unlock for a new one is not cheap.

For them to say oh just delete them when they get to 50 is really quite insulting and rude. You never tell someone to delete a toon.

Yeah, no there is no "new content every month", just the illusion of new content.

The monthly chapter crap? Yeah, that's just a way to stretch the equivalent of an expansion over several months, you know minus the group content and what not.

Rather then give us the finished product they trickle down releases to stretch the content, it really feel like they had this expansion more or less finished but nothing more in development. So the revert to a sub model and withhold release and give us a chapter a month with no development whatsoever being done in the bacground.

I wouldn't be surprised if after the final chapter is released they announced the servers were closing...

Yup! Not saying that this is what will happen, but it surely isn't as unlikely as it seemed a few months ago.

Then you'd finish the content in a couple of weeks and then be whining about nothing to do and nothing to look forward to.

You seem to be more mad that they are requiring you to stay subbed month to month to access content (god forbid they charge you for content!). You can unsub, wait until it all had dropped, and then go play it ya know.

Yup. Take the Hutt Cartel expansion which was a payable expansion, and play it through from the beginning. The time you spend doing that would be about the time you spend on what has been released so far with KotFE. So you are spot on with this comment.

This is the last nail in the SWTOR coffin for me, it took me a long while to make all 8 of my characters and gets all the stories done, loved it and was looking forward to the event as something that would bring me back to playing this more then an hour a month.

But nope it's literally a "play the game all over again on an alt then delete him until you have done it 8 times".

What you say is exactly what"s wrong with this game, too many players are willing to stand up fro what is killing the game...

Then why are you still here? It's a simple question really. If the game is no longer to your liking then move on. Do you still have hope Bioware will change this at the last minute or something? Are you petitioning other members to jump ship with you? Are you hoping someone sympathizes with your pain and gives you a hug to tell you everything will be ok? What is still keeping you here?

Wait, you're not one of them ghosts with unfinished business are you?

It is good to let the company you are leaving know the exact reasons, with specifics, why you are leaving. Because otherwise the company just puts a load of spin on it and publicly blames other reasons besides their bed management. So now everybody who cares to understand the issue can get accurate information.

Because you just never know, somebody who has the authority to do something about it, might!

so I posted to echo the OP's sentiment.

5 posts today, before that your last post was in December. Sounds like you heard there was a "hate Bioware" bandwagon to jump on and came running after it shouting "Me too! Me too!"

Not that you don't have a right to complain, but your timing is a bit odd. Just wondering if you're been really waiting this long to find some sort of solace with your displeasure for this game.

Why do you focus so much on me? Is it because you don't actually have any arguments so you need to try to go for personal attacks? Sadly enough my guess is yes...

I'm leaving the game and echoing the post of someone who is also leaving the game I haven't posted in a long while because I didn't feel the need to, so what?

Welcome to the SWTOR forums, where "you're a stupid whiney baby so your argument is invalid" is a standard "debate tactic".
