poor mercenary pvp survivability

This is seriously getting beyond a joke. Fix it. New patch updates show improvements to some of the most overpowered classes. Do you people even play this game????

 

To anybody thinking of playing a mercenary or commando in actual competitive pvp. Dont bother untill this issue is addressed.

Yeah I have a stun, a knockback, and a snare on my commando. But the moment I use one the other(s) become useless. Meanwhile, I can get stunned, use my pvp break, and get stunned again immediately after. We're too squishy and too vulnerable. I'm not saying make us tanks but damnit we need to be able to take more damage than we do. I've had assassins/shadows or operatives/scoundrels hit me ONCE and take half my HP. It's ridiculous. On top of that you put CD timers on our heals if we're not healer spec. So there's that as well. FFS give us some more survivability already.

the real funny part to this is that personally i dont think we need much.

i dont want an iwin button... i just want the same chance other classes have.

i think im about as sneaky as a merc can be in terms of using what i have to live and i get away with it at times.. others not so much... but i like having to actually try.

There's having to try and then there's struggling just to keep up. Right now commandos/mercs are definitely the latter. I love my commando, I really do. But in pvp right now it's something I have to psych myself up for because A) I know I can't compete and B) I know I'm going to be targeted because everybody else knows that I can't compete either. It's brutal and it shouldn't be this bad.

If mercenaries got +1 damage every time they whined, they could one shot operation bosses.

 

(That said the lack of an anti-focus CD is a real issue. ;) )

 

I wouldn't mind the lack of a anti-focus button if there was a reason to use my commando over my gunslinger.

There's having to try and then there's struggling just to keep up. Right now commandos/mercs are definitely the latter. I love my commando, I really do. But in pvp right now it's something I have to psych myself up for because A) I know I can't compete and B) I know I'm going to be targeted because everybody else knows that I can't compete either. It's brutal and it shouldn't be this bad.

 

This is pretty much it. Not a single class in the game knows what we have to go through at the moment. The only class that even remotely knows what it is to be left in the cold without any good dcds is gunslinger.

Gunslingers have amazing DcDs. Unforunately most of the gunslingers in the game think that leaving cover when being focused is a good idea.

That's why i said remotely. The dcd problem becomes even more glaring why you play assault specialist. I thought id give it a shot again, but omg is it beyond awful. I kept thinking, "Man, if i was in gunnery spec, that guy would have been dead twice by now".

Honestly, in playing both specs i think they are stronger against differing opponents. I had an easier time with some classes that were harder in Gunnery by using AS in some cases. Its perhaps just random observation but the dots had more effect on classes that can shut me down more as they cant shut that down as easily.

I think both work.. i prefer gunnery, but enjoyed AS as well for different reasons. i play both now at random times

I tried creating an assault spec help thread for pvp on this forum, it was met with defening silence. Such a helpful community. :(

Well most people either dont play it or dont know it.

Im not going to claim to be an expert on it, nor will i say i prefer it, but it has its uses.

This community tends to prefer to show its rear more than its better side unfortunately.

As for me, i didnt like it in pvp as much due to poor resource management comparatively speaking and the inability to target swap effectively as a result of that especially in regs. (i know i know regs dont matter blah blah blah... )

lol, I only play plasmatech vanguard and its mirror and commando, so ranked can kiss my *** tbh. Until bw pulls their head out of their rear and gives us a disengage I won't be on ranked. Plus I find arenas archaic and boring.

Even if they gave us a passive perk to increase the dmg reduction since we wear heavy armor. Its sad that we take more dmg from anything than a cloth wearing sorc that has 10 times the survivability. It's especially glaring in the 30-59 bracket where we are melted by EVERY SINGLE AC. We need an escape like every single other dps AC has. Sorcs = god bubble, Jugg = double heal to full, Mara = force camo, Sniper = combat roll, sin and op = insta stealth, even PT's have their nike shoes constantly up with the right perks, not to mention better dmg reduction passives. Litterally every other AC has an escape and we have nothing. Why?

What's sad is we have 27% damage reduction at 60 pvp, and guardians have 31 I believe. They could AT LEAST give all heavy armor classes the same amount of damage reduction from their armor. HELL even scoundrels with the right perk have more damage reduction than us.
