  1. Yes, if you are going to complain about PT burst you should at least post matches where you actually killed someone. This thread is like everything wrong with PTs these days. I see soo many PTs that can post lots of DPS, but just simply can't kill ****. Almost anyone can post 2k DPS on a PT, but apparently only few can actually kill stuff on a PT.
  2. 10 kills......5 kills...... Hint PTs are a burst class, if you are hitting 2k DPS in a 8v8 you're doing it wrong.
  3. The spirit of the compliant was the fact you have to grind them at all. Leveling systems are for RPGs where character progression is important. Shooters are not about character progression. There is no reason to have a leveling system in a shooter. It's just a bad attempt to make the game last longer by including time grinds.
  4. This thread reminds me of a comment I made not too long ago. Dicefront is 90% graphics and 10% content. Granted I might be a little salty that they called it "battlefront" but didn't include command post conquest. Like ***, how can you do battlefront with command posts?! tbh GW2 actually has some impressive story moments, but they all come late game. (looking at the level60 story chain.) The biggest advantage SWTOR has over GW2 is that GW2 lacks a good "hook" at the beginning. Late game GW2 is amazing but the early levels are drudgery.
  5. Is it more game breaking than a 30m CC on a 15 second cooldown?
  6. The 3 button joke stopped being relevant somewhere around 2.0.
  7. The first statement is meaningless. Every spec in the game is OP when "they come in herds" Have you seen what four gunnery commandos can do? Have you see what four gunslingers can do? 30m range is hardly a justification for anything. Do you realize that Sharpshooter gunslingers can hit a target for over 15k from 35 meters? That's not even including the Trickshot damage either. So again tell me how PTs and Sorcs are OP.
  8. "abundance of CC" Right now every other MMO I have looked at has far more powerful CC. Moreover with the current meta CC isn't even that useful ever since people stopped using burst stratagies.
  9. Sorcs aren't even a burst class dude, please read before posting. Also please tell me how PTs and Sorcs are OP. Because I honestly get the impression you don't even know the answer to that question.

Surge is a multiplier off the base damage. With TB's current base damage you would need just under 300% crit multiplier to get a 20k hit. (because TB's base damage is around 6k.) If I'm reading correctly it's only referring to critical chance gained by critical rating, it is not referring to all sources of critical chance. Even accounting for the fact that we are going to be stacking the crap out of newCrit in 4.0, that is still only going to be <15% multiplier on surge, which given how weak TB is already, is hardly something to be concerned about. Cantankerous is a new one. I doubt I'll be gone forever. I'll probably be back when I get off my GW2 kick, or sooner if bioware figures out that class homogenization is one of the worse things you can do in a multiplayer game.
  11. The way I read it, the only crit% that became surge% was the crit% that came from critical rating on gear, not crit bonuses such as Battle Focus. So the 6pc setbonus Cell Burst autocrit would not gain a massive surge bonus from being used on battle focus.
  12. I got the impression that only critical rating (the stat) would create surge over 100%.
  13. ...ok Please include how to actually burst a target. I'm getting tired of all the PTs that can do 2.2k DPS but can't break 5 killing blows in a 8v8. Like seriously if you break 2k DPS in a 8v8 it means you aren't killing enough stuff.
  14. tbh if sorcs ever break their hold on the meta, I think defense will be something to take. Even in the current meta just over 1/3rd of your damage taken is M/R, and the effects of defending a attack is huge.

You're not accounting for the fact that the return on endurance is getting buffed. Also the return on crit multiplier is getting nerfed.

    22 seconds is very specific
  17. Crit rating will still be way to good. Also you have to realize that pretty much all non-basic M/R attacks have a hitrate of 86% (+-2%) regardless of how much accuracy is being run. Also please never say that 1% accuracy = 1% greater hit chance in PvP. That total crap because nearly all of your misses in PvP result from DcDs and accuracy debuffs. Both of which inflict so much reduction as to render accuracy meaningless. (which is also why hitrate is always averaging around 86%.) Data pull: Crinnimov - Pyrotech - Railshot - 86.4% hitrate - 0 acc enhance - damage sample size: 241,871 Crinnimov - Advanced Prototype - Railshot - 87.2% hitrate - 2 acc enhance - damage sample size: 8,551,807 Crinntar - Tactics - High Impact Bolt - 85.2% hitrate - 2 acc enhance - damage sample size: 13,979,384 Crinntar - Plasmatech - High Impact Bolt - 85.2% hitrate - 0 acc enhance - damage sample size: 485,938 Crinnith - Tactics - High Impact Bolt - 86.6% hitrate - 0 acc enhance - damage sample size: 6,541,804 Crinn'zar - Gunnery - Boltstorm - 86.7% hitrate - 1 acc enhance - damage sample size: 17,085,541 Crinn'zar - Gunnery - High Impact Bolt - 86.4% hitrate - 1 acc enhance - damage sample size: 4,782,464 Crinn'zar - Assault Specialist - Mag Bolt - 95.1% hitrate - 1 acc enhance - damage sample size: 355,699 Crinn'zar - Assault Specialist - Full Auto - 85.9% hitrate - 1 acc enhance - damage sample size: 140,565 Please note that damage sample size is the total damage dealt by the ability for that toon while in that spec. The only outlier in all of that is Mag Bolt. Program used can be found here. Please note that said program cannot distinguish between mainhand and offhand hits so all data from offhand attacks should be considered bull.

    PvP tanks in 4.0

4 years into this game and people still don't understand. Crit and Shield are on the same RNG roll. Crit does not bypass shield at all, you just simply can't have both a crit and a shield occur at the same time. The myth of crit hurting shield originated from the fact that when crit%+shield % > 100 the extra shield chance is pushed off. Outside of autocrits the only way you could reduce shield is if you have base crit chance of over 60%. I don't know about you but I'm pretty damn sure nobody is going to have 60% base crit chance in 4.0. I seriously worry about what's going to happen to PvP theorycraft once bioware resets the forum and I can't post anymore. (since I unsubbed)
  19. You clearly haven't faced any half assed burst classes. Focusing the healer first is usually stupid because the healer isn't hurting your team, and burning a DPS through a healer is hardly any more difficult than burning a healer through a healer. Besides it's usually easier to kill a DPS since they are pretty much always more exposed than the healers are.
  20. I think the OP misspelled "Marksman" in the thread title.
  21. ..and having to spent 300k for tier 3 speeder piloting and half a mill for a non-ugly tier 3 speeder.
  22. Proactive vs Reactive has nothing to whether you can move while using the ability. Proactive means you use it to prevent damage before it happens, Reactive means it's used to recover after damage it taken - i.e you're responding to the damage. Sorcs are already chalked full of reactive defensives. (every heal they have can be considered a reactive defensive) Barrier in it's current state functions both as a Proactive and a Reactive defensive. Putting a heal redux on barrier means that you use barrier to block that AP+CB combo rather than facetanking the CB+AP combo and then barriering after the fact. Yeah that's kinda the point. Forcing a switch and not-dying to said switch is huge. Being out of the fight for a few seconds is nothing compared to the penalties invoked by dying. Plus if you're madness you still have dots ticking.
  23. sigh. The only way tank tunneling would become more prevalent was if they increased passive crit chances to where the crit would be directly bumping the shield chance. Shield and Crit are rolled on the same RNG roll, they are not separate. Crit doesn't bypass shield, but you cannot have both a crit and a shield occur at the same time. Also I presume 6pc autocrat setbonus are going away? Cuz HSM, ambush, and Cell Burst are going to be bonkers if they aren't.
  24. ok, I'm going to actually try to take your joke of a post seriously. The only nerf AP received post 3.0 was the SC nerf which was considered reasonable by everyone including the VG community. Also I don't think I've ever seen anyone claim AP isn't viable, except maybe in solo ranked. /facepalm. To take half your HP in a GCD the PT has to have TD backloaded. TD has a three second delay, which means it takes at the absolute minimum of 3 seconds for 2 PTs to global one target. Of course that assumes the target is a blind comatose lobotomy patient that didn't take notice of the twin TDs on him and pop a DcD. Also AP is not the only class that can global people when run in pairs. MM can, Arsenal can, IO can. And I would love to see your comments if you ever got hardswitched by a carnage+MM pair.
