Would there be interest in a scout night?

Strike night was a pretty big success on Blackened Chicken (real name: Onyx Ortolan) for awhile. In fact, I feel that interest only waned because it was so frequent, and for so long, that you could no longer go there and actually primarily have a strike fighter battle, as the randoms would be running the full gamut of ships.

So, would there be interest in a scout night? Not artificially weakened scouts (build restrictions, stock, type restrictions), but real scouts. The scout is powerful enough that non-participants wouldn't prove as annoying as they would on a strike night.

I would imagine it would mostly be battle scouts, but I bet you'd see some of the other scouts too.

This post is just to gauge interest. Answer assuming it will be on a night or day you could make it, and that it would last around 3 hours.

Honestly? No.

The problem isn't flying scouts. The problem is fighting just scouts. Everyone would be significantly beneath their usual accuracy, deathmatches especially would be really slowed down, we'd spend ages chasing and shouting at our screens from all the misses...

It would be like a warzone with only tanks and healers: not fun.

Depends on who's flying. 3 of my 5 ships on my main are modified scouts and I LOVE them. I've got one for strikes, one for support, and one for dogfights!

Well, more fun than 2 gunship/bomber clusters for sure. I am up for all-scouts match, though it will be probably dominated by T2 scouts anyway...

I wasn't expecting that response. I mean, I wouldn't want GSF to just be scouts, but for a few hours, as an event? I just think a lot of the playerbase really takes pride in their scout play, and it would be a fun off night.

I do agree that we'd see all those things, of course. Hrm.

Id love to see this, so much dogfighting! God help any GS or bomber that spawns that night :D

I would however suggest (in order to keep it simple) that it be a "solo queue" event. Forming teams can be a daunting task and just dropping into queue at said time would be very easy. Either way I would be down for this, just let me know when and where.

This could be lots of fun. We did an unofficial night like this on the Shadowlands a few months back. Xi'ao's team started queuing with only 1 ship (sting or blackbolt) on the bar and I followed suit with the flashfire.

I honestly think it would be a cool meta. The T2 scout with cluster missiles, BLC, DF, retro/powerdive is probably the obvious choice. But I think a team could benefit from a T1 scout with sab probe, EMP field, DF, and powerdive. And perhaps even a T3 scout with combat command to buff allied T2 scouts 20% accuracy. You could even make a stipulation that every 4 man premade had to include at least one T1 scout and one T3 scout.

T1 scout enemy accuracy debuff specialist

- EMP disables enemy targetting telemetry and engines as well as 20% accuracy debuff.

- Supression co-pilot ability debuffs enemy accuracy by 25%

T3 scout accuracy buff specialist

- 20% combat command allied accuracy buff

- In Your Sights co-pilot ability debuffs enemy evasion by 20%

Well, if Drako or you (or someone else) wants to org it as solo queue, then that would be fine. But if I was involved I wouldn't do that. That's not my bag, baby!

well in that case ill *ahem* start scouting for my team ! (bad puns are bad) I think an event like this could potentially draw more people than super serious, especially considering all it takes to compete at the top level is 1 ship (instead of like 3-4)

Hoping to see this one come through, all scouts will feel more like before bombers came out (used to see a lot of mostly scout matches back in the day) kinda hard with 4-5 scouts all trying to shove clusters up your ***...

I could probably be interested in something along these lines.

And outside of the occasional DOM, I don't think these matches would be that slow. The slowest matches to me all seem to involve GS/bomber balls on both sides in a TDM. I've seen a LOT of those go to time with the winner having like 35 or so kills. I don't think I've ever seen one that is all dogfighters (strikes and scouts) go to time like that, so I really wouldn't be too worried about that. DOMs might be a bit of a pain at points, and will probably feel much like the early days of GSF with sat humpers, but I remember even back in the day figuring out ways to deal with those people. It's easiest with multiple people on the same page, but it's still entirely possible, since you only need an angle for a couple of seconds.

Anyway, yeah, I'd probably be on board for something like this, depending on the timing.
