  6. I'm not interested in a premade/farming vs non-premade discussion, which has been discussed ad nauseam on these forums, nor will I make some long post explaining SRW's actions. If you want help, you can always go to gsfsrw.com and make a post. If you hate us, take a number, move to the back of the line and wait for a few years...
  7. Oh that guy with the hamster powering his internet connection, for the record, we canned him months ago for various reasons.... And to Despon's comment, getting reinforcements is futile because these are straight farmers, whenever anyone of skill comes on they leave.
  8. Somehow..How is this result surprising at all? The guy steals models that aren’t his from one of the most iconic brands ever and tries to profit off them and then Nemarus posts on the Official SWTOR forums about it. I mean come on, that’s like selling stolen merchandise outside the police station and saying, “wow, how’d they know?” Must be that top notch legal team. I highly doubt this was a multimillion dollar international legal operation, the original posts led them straight to the supplier. What were they supposed to do? Just let others illegally profit from their stuff? You can’t do that with something like Star Wars, it’s too big of a brand to adopt anything less than a zero tolerance policy.
  9. Those ID numbers you are referring to are called noderefs or GUID's, basically every item is a noderef (pointer) referencing a node that was created from a base class. They contain no useful information from a data analysis viewpoint. In terms of deaths, you are correct about it being difficult to view a death and it involves writing conditionals to determine when your noderef ID changes and then backtracking to the death event. When you join a GSF match you "login" because you are logging out of the ground game, that event occurs because the player character controller changes as well as the need to set up the new character selection system so you can pick ships (characters). Each time you die (change ships), the game invokes the character selection system and you are created anew and given a new noderef. That's why your ID changes each time. Selected data is persisted to the player account level (e.g. stats, money, etc) so it's not destroyed when you die or when the instance shuts down. However most of the match info is lost. In terms of weapons, each ability/weapon/whatever is also a noderef to a node that was created from a prototype called a Spec. Those Specs contain all the initial weapon stats for a particular weapon. When you update components, it is changing those specs (fields), however it doesn't change the noderef number, which is what you are seeing in the combat log. So if you use Slug Railgun with T4 left and then switch it next game to T4 right, it's not going to have a different noderef number, because the noderef is pointing to the same node, you've just changed a field value associated with it. I hope that helps and saves you some time.
  10. Sure, but you can't do it by solely parsing the log they give you, which is what this guy is interested in. And even if you made a standalone program it would have limited use.
  11. You wouldn't be able to obtain that information no matter your skill set because it's not possible given how they've implemented the logging.
  12. I don't see how it's not, it doesn't interfere with the game or it's contents at all, nor does it give players an unfair advantage. All it does is remove the nearly 2 year handicap on CM gunships that people are playing ~$20 to buy and use.
  13. As many of us know, if you buy a Gunship off the Cartel Market, the icons for the secondary weapons don't change as you toggle between them. This is especially annoying when you are using two railguns like Ion/Slug because their firing arcs are the same, so you have no way to tell which weapon you have equipped unless you fire the weapon or mentally keep track of every time you switch. Well, that's outrageous, and I decided enough is enough. So I wrote a program that solves this issue by creating an icon window that you can overlay on top of SWTOR in place of the game's weapon icon that never changes. This new resizeable window correctly switches between the proper icons depending on your weapon choices. Every time you press "1" the icon will automatically change to reflect your weapon swap. The program can be downloaded here, it's on the homepage under the post "Cartel Market Gunship Icon Fix". You'll also find install/use instructions there and I recorded a video showing how to install/use the program that can be watched here. Please let me know if you have any issues, also if you have any feedback I'm always happy to read it. I hope you all find this program useful and have fun in your Cartel Market Gunships!
  14. @many of you You guys should really read this. In particular 6, 15, and 16. If you want to discuss the merits of clarion vs. GS vs. bomber then make a new post and do that, stop hijacking another person's posts and turning it into a personal discussion. It's rude to the OP and forces people who want to read about the topic of the post to filter through all your irrelevant stuff. I think mega servers would be a huge boon to the game in general and GSF specifically. It would be nice to have a population high enough for match maker to maybe work. It would also help with conquest events and GSF events in general since people wouldn't need to roll new toons on multiple servers. I hope they can solve the current performance issues, which may simply be related to server hardware or something more complicated like replication or asynchronous data considerations for their instances. I know their original version of Heroengine was before Seamless 2.0 was finished for that engine, however, none of us know exactly what they've done to the original engine.
  15. I think a close match thread is a very interesting idea where the poster could post a screenshot showing the leader board. Furthermore, if they recorded the match they could post the youtube link. That way the thread would be like an archive of really great matches, and those with videos would be entertaining to watch and informative for new players.
  16. Solid advice and it's nice you explained the thought process. That was Spacer-x asking about the firing, after the match I think Cencere was telling him about how you have the quarter shots timed really well, which makes it seem like you have a gatling gun instead of a railgun. I know from listening to newer players that the constant stream of ion damage has a psychological impact on them, they feel like no where is safe and panic rather than hitting F2 and calling for help. Or they'll continue dropping spam and give the ion GS a constant supply of targets, which is the worst thing to do. Those doorways are key choke points for both teams, control them and you immediately shut down the strongest GS posts.
  17. I picked 3 of the funnest matches of Wednesday night. For those of you that haven't attended our Conquest event, you should, we've been having lots of fun matches on SL this week. NOTE: I forgot to enable my own mic to be recorded, so there are some awkward dialogues where it might sound like someone on my team is talking to themselves and receiving replies from no one. 1. This match didn't turn into a GS chess match. Lots of scout dogfighting between me, beres (despon) and eric-bana (Linuxizer). Always fun to dogfight against some of the best in the game, and it makes for more exciting videos than bombers. Pub Team 1 Baitah Bar'rier Excentric Yallia Anariodin Aryabel Cescajasmine Ravishmart Pub Team 2 Beekay-nomand Beres (Despon) Eric-bana Tobiasfunke (Maximilianpowers) Hedago Phocias Pointman Sakriv 2. 18. It should be on the right side of the home page. It's not viewable until you register with the site, which I've seen you've done now, did you post before you registered? If you still can't see it send me a message through enjin and I'll see what the issue is.
  19. Updated the post with prizes. Reminder: The event starts tomorrow, not the 23th. I believe Corellia is the target for the week, looking forward to flying with everyone!
  20. This post will surely give Despon something to do after work haha. This subject has been discussed ad nauseam, see Despon's guide to killing GS here
  21. Compliance is the biggest issue with a stock night. Ideally, a dead server is the best because 1. It has no good pilots, or at least very few 2. chances of stock vs. stock is really high Harbinger is the exact opposite situation, making it the worst choice to do a stock night. It has the largest community--most of which are wholly ignorant of these forums--and I'd guess has more mastered ship toons than any other server. Why not do it on Jung Ma or POT5? It takes no effort to make a new toon for stock night.
  22. It is the 16th, I changed it in the text but I can't change it in the title. It will now be a good test of critical reading skills.
  23. Shadowlands Reconnaissance Wing is proud to announce the return of the Shadowlands Starfighter Invasion event Feb 16th (Republic Guild Event)! Goal of this Event: The aim of this event is to increase GSF awareness by competing for conquest (and winning) during Clash in Hyperspace Event. This event, unlike other GSF events, will be a "marathon style" event, taking place over a full week's conquest period, rather than for specific times on a specific night. We are asking all able bodied pilots to help assist us in this goal. To help motivate pilots, we are giving away prizes at different conquest point levels. While we will be facing each other mostly throughout the week, we will all be working TOGETHER to represent the GSF community, and prove to the rest of the playerbase that we pilots are a force to be reckoned with! Eligibility: You must be guild member to be eligible for prizes, this is so that we can share a common goal, as well as allowing for a tiered prize system. At the outset of the event be sure to contact a member of our guild or ask in GSF chat for an invite (even if it is only temporary). The only responsibility you have is to fly as much gsf as you can during the week of Feb 16th so we can accumulate conquest points as a team. We will be attempting to even out premades, and thus we will discourage players from flying in overpowered groups by evening out experienced, mastered players with less geared or experienced fliers. Following the event, everyone who joined the guild specifically for this contest is free to leave, however, if you wish to continue to fly with Shadowlands Reconnaissance Wing following the event, we would be happy to have you. Teamspeak: Our teamspeak is open to all and can be accessed by clicking on the teamspeak link on the right side of the homepage. Or you can just whisper me in game or just ask in the gsf channel. (type /cjoin gsf to join the channel) Premades: With so many people coming to play gsf pub side we are going to get a lot of wargames. We are aware this it is not fair for people rolling new toons to run into a mastered premade, since we are all working together and no one wants to get beat time after time because they have no gear. So, we will not be making such premades. We are going to try to group people to make even teams as much as we possibly can. Solo-queing is also an option, and is neither encouraged nor discouraged. Stock players will be able to contribute just as much as mastered ones, since conquest points are our primary goal for this event. Ideally, we will be facing off against mostly mix and matched groups of other republic premades in the event, and groups of 4 will be switched back and forth. However, we also have word that a large imperial conquest guild is planning to compete with us, so we will also be facing off against them in game, and thus we can hopefully cultivate a healthy rivalry! PRIZES Those with enough conquest points will be entered into draws for prize packs at different levels. For the grand prize, players over 50,000 will be entered multiple times for the drawing. For example, 50,000 pts = 1 entry in grand prize drawing 100,000 pts = 2 entries in grand prize drawing 150,000 pts = 3 entries in grand prize drawing, etc Grand Prize 50,000+ CP 6,000,000 credits delivered to any server including E.U. Major Prizes 35,000+ CP 1. K-52 Strongarm + Grand Chance Cube 2. K-52 Demolisher + Grand Chance Cube 3. Jeweled Orobird + Grand Galactic Starfighter Pack 4. We hope that all of the great pilots that we have met will be able to attend the event and represent the GSF community!
