12x Class XP Misleading

The email "Last Chance to Pre-Order" touted 12x Class XP. As my main reason for not playing was how teadious it was to play and enjoy the class stories (I already had a 51 and a 55) I jumped right on it. You can see the full promotion here:

I checked on the site, and the only thing I could find was that it said you would get the 12x subscriber benefit if you pre-ordered by Monday night (the 1st). So I grabbed the expansion, and was very excited to finally play all the class stories and have fun kitting them all out. I even got 4 friends I used to play with to buy the expansion on Monday the 1st so they could secure the 12x.

And then it was taken away the next day.

I'm really disappointed in the SWTOR team for this. You had an idea that really made me want to buy your expansion, play, subscribe, buy CC to get some get for new toons, and even convince friends to do the same...and then took it away. I guess it worked, because I never would have bought it if I knew it was ending Monday.

But I can definitely make sure to unsubscribe and recommend the same to the friends I got to come back with me.

I'm sorry to hear that. Major slip up by the swtor team. ('slip up' or 'scam'? I'm not sure)

But anyways, I too was under the impression that the 12x boost was going to last much longer and was very disappointed to find out that it only lasted until Dec. 1. Now, I honestly think I'm not going to play the expansion at all. After missing that opportunity I can't bring myself to play it so I'm going to let my sub run out.

Also, reading your story kind of lowers my opinion of them.

If we Bi******* enough they will bring it back.

Oh come on!

It was right there in the fine (and not all that fine really) print at the bottom of that very e-mail.

It stated clearly that the 12xp event ended on the 2nd.

It's the OP's fault for not looking at the entire e-mail.

Logic and reason in a post on the official forums? Times really have changed...

While I agree that pictures should be updated with a caveat, I have long noticed that Swtor.com art stays long, with obsolete info.

Consider the launcher still displaying the Galactic Starfighter message "coming soon!", I've had it several times in the past weeks... while this expansion has been launched a year ago.

For me, something came up and I was never able to use that boost. Not misleading? Fair enough, just as soon they address Q4 at http://www.swtor.com/shadow-of-revan to say no longer valid (and say still says instead of was); no excuses about their update habits. Some people see Class Experience Boost and bounce up and down like a five year old on a sugar high, some people can win $1 on 10 scratchers and wonder what the catch is, same thing with people who skim through the lines and never spend a penny.

Eh, while I usually err on your side in most situations, this is stretching. Yes, ultimately, it was a hasty decision that wasn't researched in-depth, but the 12x experience boost shouldn't have been advertised at all in the "last chance" e-mail regardless.

Why not?

It was still active.

For a few hours. You and I both know that it being left in was an oversight, someone simply tossing together a promotional e-mail with the canned list of boni with little consideration payed to whether or not they would still actually be a bonus.

Yes, he should have read how long it would last.

No, it was not a relevant perk to be advertising.

Um, I gained the final 15 or so levels on my sage on the last day of 12x availability (actually 1 night, so only about 5-6 hours of gaming) with the 12x boost, so I'd say it was still plenty relevant.

Actually, I'm looking at that email right now and what was advertised was your last chance to get pre-order exclusive items.

I also got it on Nov 21st, a full week and a half before the end of 12x XP.

Hate to play devil's advocate here but the time frame was specified down at the bottom in the fine print.

Here is the entire e-mail, I did read it fully, even the fine print.

And 'Buy' page fine print.

So I was satisfied when I looked at the entire email (even the fine print) and the entire buy page, even fine print. I did more research than most.

So you pre-ordered on the last day to get 12x XP and got 12x XP for the last day but you're complaining because you lack basic reading comprehension?

Classic.

See above.

I have no sympathy for people with the ability to buy things but not the ability to read...

That was the subject, but if you look at the first screenshot, 12xp class xp boost is definitely the highlight.

just because YOU decided to grab the expansion pack on the 1st, doesn't mean that Bioware scammed anyone. The 12X XP was running a FULL MONTH before you decided to snag it up... Everyone that pays ANY attention to events around here knew that.

That's the point, I wasn't around here, I stopped playing a long time ago, and for the most part never looked at their promotional e-mails. The only reason I saw this one was due to switching to Google Inbox. And I never called it a 'scam', just that it was misleading in this situation.

Plain and simple, I haven't had time for SWTOR in quite a while, and I got really excited that I could finally play through my favorite part of the game (the story). I didn't have time to site down and use the 12x until this weekend, and never would have bought the expansion, nor recommended it to friends, if they had actually said "12x Class XP Boost Until Dec 2nd!".

so... all that information, just one click away.

Indeed. I ran 4 characters from 47-55 on that last day. I liked it very much and if that was the only day I could have played... I would have still snagged the expac just for that XP perk.

As to the topic... both the thread topic and the OP complaints are unjustified. All he had to do was read_in_full (something everyone should do before hitting a purchase button on a website) and then decide if it was still worth it.

You need to learn to take responsibility for your own oversights.. rather then placing blame elsewhere. This is nobodies fault but your own.
