WTH Embargoing the Star Cluster pack in 2.8.1???

Hey Mureyu,

Good question, let me explain a bit about this shipment of packs and how it works. The first thing that many of you noticed is that this shipment does not have a reputation track, this is intentional. The Star Cluster pack and the Club Vertica pack are a smaller, special shipment which is intended to run during Nar Shaddaa Nightlife Event.

What you will see is that Star Cluster will become embargoed on the launch of 2.8.1, which will also mark the launch of Club Vertica. Similarly, Club Vertica will only be available up to, or before, the launch of 2.9. I don't have an exact date on when Club Vertica will be embargoed but I will let you know when I do. However, it should be noted that it will embargo during the Nightlife Event.

Again, these were two packs made specifically around the Nightlife event and they work a little differently then some of our others have. When messaging this we were treating it like we do a normal pack and messaging an embargo approximately 1-2 weeks out.

I hope that explains the embargo timing.

This might have been information that players should have known before the pack was released.

Had I known you had jacked up the collections unlock prices, I would never have purchased this pack. I feel cheated, I feel as though I've been misled. I also feel like closing my wallet for the next pack you release in this "special event" (read as price-jack experiment). I sincerely hope others follow me, vote with your wallets folks that is all this company seems to understand these days. You reap what you sow Bioware.

I wanted to stand out.

I like the change Reno, you stand out alot more now. So many were using your old one. I'd like to make a change myself...it's time, I just have found one yet that I like more than my beloved Walmart er I mean Imperial logo.

I think the primary reason things cost so much more CC to unlock was to try and get people to rush to buy/unlock things while the packs are still available before Strongholds launches. The fact that the packs are a limited time only before they are embargoed supports this as well.

They want us to be broke when Strongholds releases so there is a bigger market for RMT on the CM when the new stuff arrives.

I agree.

Lately, all we are seeing is ways for people to use excess cartel coins and excess credits, think these unlock costs and the stupid vegas event.

The whole point is to have people poorer when Strongholds hits, be that in CC or credtis, rather than they are now.

Why ? Obvious really. Everything you want to use in your stronghold will cost cartel coins, or credits to someone who spend the CCs.

I am sat with over 150million credits, they cannot hurt me directly, plus the fact I am not really interested in playing dolls house, but if I was, some mug somewhere will be wasting CCs to fund my decorating,

The devs have now completed what is known in sports as a hat trick.

Alienate PVP community - check

Alienate Raiding community - check

Alienate CM junkies - check

What do devs have planned to piss off the RP community? Take away the "walk" toggle?

they will give us chat bubbles, and they will be glorious.

then they will take them away next patch because the server load is too much for the engine

Well I think they want people to be more active I suppose. To be honest, I think it's people like yourself who have lots of credits that are part of the issue. Not saying it's your fault but I have the feeling that a lot of people are holding on to their cc and credits more than they like to. It's all part of maintaining an economy and all that. If money just sits somewhere it doesn't help the economy.

The problem I see with this is that even though I understand the need for credit sinks and income for the developers, I do think that there are a couple of things that are too expensive which might keep people from spending their credits more easily.

For me, I realise that there will be a level cap raise soon again with new gear etc. That's cool but I also dread it because of the huge cost of augmenting all my level 55s (15 of them currently). This is the main reason I hold on to my credits and don't spend them as freely as I might otherwise. I don't have near the money you do because I can't stomach dailies too much and I am not good at trading but I do ok with a little over 10 million creds and I want to make sure I can re augment at least a couple of characters when the new stuff hits.

But I guess the idea is that if people spend a lot of their creds they have to make a lot more when the new stuff comes out and this drives cc sales or in game activity or probably a combination of both. But saved cc are old income so I guess that's why they want more spendature of cc.

I do wonder though, since metrics don't show why people don't do something what the reasons are for people to sit on their credits or cc. I imagine you've done so much dailies and trading that you have more money than you actually need. Because of my alts I constantly spend money on moving mods and indeed augmenting but the later is just crazy expensive. It's about a 1.5 - 2 million credit value per character and at 15 characters that's already more than I have. So that's what I am looking at and is the most important reason I make sure I never have below 5 million creds and make sure I generally have double that. I dunno, I'd rather spend my creds on other things than augmenting and I hate that whole process but I do want the stats from it.

I agree for the most part. They do want people like me to lower our credits so we might have to buy something with CC.

My money is made from historic GTN trading, selling the odd expensive item and crafting, selling materials etc. It is amassed as I am exactly like you. So many 55s, it is easy to make cash from gathering.

You might be surprised to know, I have barely done a daily in my life. Gameplay side I solely PVP, which is the cheapest of all activities to take part in. No repair costs etc. I avoid generally now the augment cost issue, since I make my own, and the only thing I have paid for recently 2M on the GTN was the Tropical Bird mount for my Sorceror. I sure wont be unlocking it though.

I'm not quite up to 150 million credits, but, I have more now than I ever have before. I anticipated spending a lot of them on stuff from this pack from the GTN. But, due to the huge disparity between drop rates of upper and lower armor, the prices of chestpieces just never came down to the level that I'm used to. So instead, I haven't bought one single armor piece, even though there are multiple sets that I like quite a bit.

So if they were trying to get me to spend credits, they did it wrong. I was ready and willing to spend, but...I'm not willing to pay the price for Bioware's mistake with the drop rates.

This theory about how Bioware is trying to drain our credits before 2.9 is so stupid. The only people who believe that are the ones who don't know how to manage creds or understand the concept of budgeting.

I believe it to be true and have more credits than I could ever spend.

So we are forced to buy these armor sets? Are we being forced to gamble millions at the casino? I set aside X amount for the casino event and now that I've passed that amount I don't spend my "GTN" credits, I just do a quick Oricon run.

It's not about forcing it's about tempting people that lack your amazing mental sefdiscipline.

It seems at least plausible to me...and I have a pretty good pile of credits, more than I've ever had before, anyway.

But as far as my point goes, it doesn't matter either way. 2.9 or no 2.9, ever since the preview of this pack I thought I was going to spend a lot of credits on the armor sets. And if they were selling for normal prices, I would have. Then I would have been cleared out of credits and would have had to do something or other if I wanted more - whether I wanted them for stronghold stuff, which in fact I have no interest in, or stuff from the next pack.

But with the jacked up prices due to the drop rate disparity bug, I've spent nothing at all on armor sets. So, I don't need to do anything to replenish my credits...whether that be game activities, or buying coins to buy CM stuff to sell.

And it seems like a such waste to be skipping a pack when there's so much cool stuff in it. It would be one thing if it's all just re-skinned junk, but this pack wasn't. But it would be even more of a waste to fund Bioware's poor quality control and unwillingness to fix their mistakes.

You are certainly more patient then. I do craft as well, but the whole thing of gathering and gathering, creating 100+ items to re so you can get enough mats for 14 kits, then making the kits, then paying 36k per kit and then making my own augments which takes lots of missions for thermal regulators at which I just am not very lucky just really got old for me. I do still craft but I guess my attention span is a bit shorter when it comes to gathering and crafting...oh well ;)

Don't you people think that some armor sets should be rare? Is it fun to be able to get what you want right away? How long did it take you to collect Revan's armor? I spent almost 15 mil and several hundreds of dollars chasing it, and you know what? It was worth every credit and dollar!

There should be rare items in this game and we shouldn't be spoon fed everything. Learn how to manage a hypercrate and how to play the GTN a bit and you'll be fine.

I'm confident that Bioware knows what bug I'm referring to.

Do you run Bioware/EA? Do you have any idea how much a game has to make in order to keep it going? Rare items give you something to work towards and gives those who play the GTN more to do. I don't see a problem here but you're entitled to your own tin hat opinion.

Yep I do, but it gets a bit silly to see 10 pages of boots, pants and gloves and have one or two tops and helmets on the same gtn. The whole set should be rare not just parts of it.
