Summer of SWTOR Update

Recommended Posts

Do you think it will be re-released/revised for a permanent stay with the release of Strongholds, or removed temporarily/permanently?

It would be a nonsensical shame to see a feature exist solely for building hype for an expansion, only to be removed when said expansion comes.

It's possible.

Wow has been having these events before every expansion (Since I've started playing):

Before Wrath - They had big guys attack Stormwind (and I assume Org).

Before Cata - Can't remember the extact details but it was elementals attacking Stormwind (and I assume Org as well).

I was waiting for this question to pop up as I figured someone would catch the Chevin event missing from the list. As it stands right now, the Chevin event was a one time event and will not be returning. When you see lists like the one above we are looking at our recurring events, which are those we designed to come back with some frequency.

I know that will be sad news for some but I wanted to make sure that was clarified.

My transalation:

After a let down of a roadmap I just want to perk you guys up with some more bad news.

Have a nice day.

No, but we expected more than an update on 2.8. This was touted as a roadmap, and the last roadmap had 3 updates planned out (including 2.8, which is the only one we got today).

Yeah, are you really trying to say that the only people who have a right to talk on these forums are the developers of the game? No one here is talking to hear their own voice. We're discussing with other players, and hopefully some of the developers are reading our comments.

God forbid people have questions.

This did not have a roadmap title nor was it to be treated as such. It was an update to show where they stand and to give us information on where it's all going. People have questions yes, and they have been doing a VERY good job of telling us what's going on. Everytime information comes out like this, it doesn't have to show specifics down to the T where everything is going and what is going on. Any information is good information in my book.

I was expecting HM55 versions of the last batch of tactical flashpoints.:(

This roadmap basically says carry on as you are. If playing at interior designer doesn't interest you then you may as well unsub for six months and come back when we've added actual content (possibly) because we're not adding anything challenging or new for the foreseeable future.

Good question. I can do better than this week or next! You will have the Roadmap later today :)

You were saying?

We were promised a roadmap. What we got wasn't a roadmap. We were lead to believe we'd get another roadmap, not an update to a previous one like we got.

And you're also forgetting and / or brushing aside that it is rather unlikely that the difficulty to program or code something like Pazaak is nowhere near as complex as working on something such as GSF, for sure.

Also, I don't remember ever saying these forums represent the majority of the playerbase, if only I stated the exact opposite numerous times in the past. If I have though, please point out where.

I was simply pointing out that Pazaak is a more complex programming challenge than (relatively) simple slot machines. GSF is accessed by a large portion of the playerbase according to statements from BW staff in the past, and I sincerely doubt that Pazaak would get as big a following, especially given I would assume the only reward would be (in most player's cases) a small amount of credits, compared to GSF which is substantially 'cooler' looking from a young player's perspective than a table top game. As I said in my previous post, from a business perspective making Pazaak a priority over more important things such as bug fixes, new operations and new PvP content makes no business sense for a company looking to make as much money as possible as quickly as possible (EA).

Well at least bring back red sparkle powder. And expand the color options as well. I know some people who might lose their minds for expanded sparkle powder options. Doooooo eet!

What I was saying was, people need to settle down I will never understand why people get so upset at getting information like this. It doesn't have to be full blown out essays every time. Also, I think that it was going to always be more of an update to the 2014 Roadmap, because they already did the 2014 roadmap. Use some common sense. Some people just took it as it was going to be a completely new roadmap which it was never going to be. Again, words misunderstood and things lost in translation. The point is, they are communicating a lot with us, telling us what is going on and giving us good information a lot of the time. I don't see what the problem is.

so we're getting yet again nothing other then rehashed content a new event that will use cartel coins for in game gambling and class balance that really means sins/ops are getting more buffs and every else gets nerfs.

Who said anything about using Cartel Coins for in game gambling? That's not what was stated. Also, I'm sure more will be said about the updates as we go along. Just be happy with this information.

A lot? They dont tell any till the end as always. And Feb's roadmap was also not a good, but, ofc, it was better that that. Why we except new roadmap? Cause Bruce told almost nothing at last. Use logic, it really helps.

It is not that they are not saying anything, they say that they give us nothing.

People moan when they don't talk to us.

People moan when they do talk to us.

Failure is the only option.

The fact that they are talking to us is not what people are moaning about. The fact that this is really weak-sauce as far as meaningful content goes is what people are moaning about.

Communication is a good thing, but it is not so good that it overrides a dearth of content.

We're not upset about the information, we're upset about the lack of content. We were expecting the information released today to include some of the content they're working on, but it was basically just a description of 2.8. It's great for you that you had low expectations and didn't expect this to actually be a roadmap, but you're in the minority there. When they say over and over again that they are releasing a roadmap, I don't automatically expect them to not release a roadmap, but something else. I don't know what makes you think it is common sense to not believe them when they say they're going to release something. But it doesn't exactly speak highly of your opinion of them. Nothing was lost in translation, it went from English to English. They clearly said roadmap over and over. And the early 2014 roadmap is about to run out, it went through 2.8. So pretty soon we'll be driving forward blind, which is different than in the past.

It's disheartening to realize that there has not been a new op in 9 months and they are not intending to release another one any time soon. This information may be good enough for you, but for some of us we need something to look forward to.

^^ Exactly.

Just consider this...

That was at E3 2012, which in June. Makeb was released in April 2013.

Right now, 2.8 is around the corner. 2.9 comes drops in August and 3.0... Well... Errrr... Ohh yeah...

WE KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT IT.

What we're getting in the meantime?

A new difficulty setting for a nine(!!!) months old operation, a new event based on slot machines, instead of a new PERMANENT feature and... Two new flashpoints with 2.9, which is the most story we'll get in four(!!!) freaking months.

And don't forget the new ship for GSF which was delayed indefinitely.

Again, as pointed out by DarthDrymond, the issue is not the lack of communication; The issue is that they hardly have anything noteworthy to communicate IMHO.

(emphasis mine)

Perhaps we should all just assume that Bioware are lying about everything until it gets patched in?

I mean, has anyone ever even been to Texas? That sounds made up to me.

You should thank them. Instead of saying nothing, they are basically saying nothing is coming. It is not that road map is partial. This is the whole road map and there is nothing in it.
