IMHO it is too expensive. Which is a shame, because I like it and might have bought it if it were priced more in line with the other CM speeders. But no big deal, I just will pass on it. I like my current mounts well enough.

If this mount truly is "too expensive", I imagine that it will sell poorly and thus often go on sale and/or get a permanent price cut (like a couple of unpopular gear sets I can think of). If not, well, good for the folks that are happy to buy the mount at the 3K CC price point. It is a great looking mount, and I am sure they will enjoy it. ^^

Bioware really need to send some staff on a PR course. They repeatedly do stuff that is almost designed to antagonise their customers. When I see a mount for 3000cc I think rip off, I think oh look Bioware like to rip off their customers, do I want to deal with a company that rips off customers?

Yep I know. if I don't like the price then don't buy the product and I won't, but without spending a dime my opinion of Bioware as dropped another notch, simply because they're clearly being overtly greedy.

You see, though, the difference is that they are not ripping off their customers. You can't rip someone off when the purchase is completely unnecessary and voluntary. A "rip-off" is when I need to buy a hammer to fix something in my house, and there is only one hardware store in town. Since the owners of the store know they are the only place where one can buy a hammer, and I have nothing else I can use in place of a hammer, they charge $1500 for it. That's a rip-off.

Fortunately, though, in the case of the Tauntaun pet in the CM, it is merely a hammer with a black handle that they are selling for $1500. I can either use some of the other tools in my chest in place of a hammer (other mounts in my inventory), or simply quest for the in-game Tauntaun mount (fill out some paperwork in the hardware store and get a yellow-handled hammer for free). When all things are considered, this is as far from a rip-off as you can get.

As I suspect it has been said many times, I'll say it again:

Don't like it, don't buy it.

If you think the 3000 cc price is too high (I certainly do), don't buy it. Bioware will see that fewer people are buying it and then they will reduce the price.

They will (and should) release these kinds of "test" pricings from time to time to see what people are willing to pay.

Exactly what I said, lol.

Plus, most cartel items end up getting reduced over time. It will probably be launched with a 10% discount, or give it a couple of weeks and it'll be 15% off.

Or just don't buy it at all. You can get a different tauntaun already.

Personally, I'll be buying it. 3000 CC is nothing to keep my vehicles at 100% in Collections :)

Unless they changed it from the pts this is what it looks like http://i.imgur.com/KtCKi8s.jpg

I cant see any difference between this new tauntaun and the one you can buy from the vendor on Hoth. Maybe I could buy Bantha or maybe Rancor mount for 3,000 Cartel Coins, but for the same looking (shape) tauntaun ... never ;)

His point is probably that the monthly fee to play the game is $15. So this mount is supposedly twice as valuable as all the content available to a player in a month of play.

Did you know that diamonds are really not as rare as people think and the only reason they are expensive is because they have a percieved value with the consumers?

Sure the 3000 cc cost maby be too high, but if people are willing to pay that much for a tauntaun, it is not overpriced.

I'm wondering what the math behind that price is....

If we price it 1500cc, then a hundred people will buy it, and then we'll get 150,000cc worth of moneys!

So if we double that, we'll get double the moneys!

Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaah, that's not how it works, Mr. Accountant.

Man, free2play is seriously the worst thing that could happen to this game, for the mount collectors.... :(

Well.. all I can say is that WoW mounts go for $25.. Aion's mounts go from $15-50.. and this seems to fall in line with that. I don't really like it but.. that's the way it goes :p

Can't speak to Aion as i haven't played.. but what i would say though is at least in wow the paid mounts are always a unique and custom designed mount not a bland re-skin (as to be believed by preview pictures we've seen here) theirs nothing unique or interesting about this taun taun really... :(

No, the "math" behind it is that they are checking to see if people are willing to pay 3000 for a mount.

They have to do this every now and then to test the market. Same thing with every business which is somewhat in a monopoly situation.

There are already 3 taun taun mounts in game to be earned by playing. I take no issue with them selling a recolored one in the CM.

I would however like for subs to have the chance to earn a varactyl, zeldrate, & dewback through skillful play, luck, or dedicated effort.

bingo

The marketiers are testing the market to see if it can bare the higher prices.

IF YOU PLAYERS buy this item and they still make a lot of money, expect to see all cartel prices slowly rise.

then i would say to people don t buy it. 3000 cc for a reskin if it was a mount that had a level of detal that the nim mounts have then sure ... but 3k for a ugly s.o.b ...nope

Socialists??? As a Brit I'm not getting were socialism comes into it?

hmm.. comes from complaining about free markets, or about things other people are possibly willing to pay for something, or someone is just jealous about things he can´t afford and complains about life being "unfair". It´s all socialist entitlement.

The difference = Can add to collections and therefore have the mount account wide. So, probably some people will buy it for that reason (either directly from CM or off the GTN from someone else).

Personally, I have a dozen of the Hoth Tauntaun in storage and the drops to get more if I ever need them.. so frankly I have no interest in this one.

But seriously folks.. you have multiple ways to get a Tauntaun. So griping about them having one on the CM that you don't need is pointless and petty IMO. If it does not meet your personal value proposition.. then ignore it.

I sort of see, but it feels just like stupidity and entitlement, but lets steer away from anything political.
