  1. Oh boy, more CQ points for heroics, those are my favorite thing to do in game! Gosh, I just love doing the same heroics I've been doing for the better part of a decade. Definitely more fun than getting caught up on the story, playing Space Barbie, decorating my Strongholds, or boring stuff like that! Jesting aside . . . the changes to CQ points for heroics is nice I suppose, but for me at least the big appeal of getting so many points from reputation tokens was NOT having to run as much old, grindy content such as, y'know, heroics. 😒 It is very nice that we will be able to access daily areas on alts that haven't done story for them, though.
  2. Only 2 mil per character? Wow, that is way too low IMHO. I was hoping it would be enough to at least cover re-making all my outfits and Stronghold reactivation fees. It is nice that they are offering free/discounted transfers, though.
  3. The GS token vendor would be a great place to add those bind-on-pickup Arcann customizations that are currently only available for a currently unobtainable, character bound currency. And more companion customizations in general would be really nice. Hopefully they will add another Stronghold soon too, I really enjoy getting new ones to decorate and they are a great thing to spend tokens on.
  4. Aww darn, did I misunderstand this? I thought that the Anniversary sales items would be at least 30% off, but the Master's Datacron and Equipment Bundle is only 25% off.
  5. Not an APAC player, but the ping isn't too bad from where I live so I've played there a bit and want to move my legacy over. Honestly, I don't really understand why some APAC players don't want non-APAC players transferring to SV. I've always enjoyed playing on USA servers with APAC players, as it is nice to have more hours when there are lots of people online, and more people makes for a more robust GTN. That said, I do support transfers being opened to SV (from ALL regions). My hope is that they'll do another 50% off transfers sale or some other promotion to lessen the cost when they do. I get the novelty of a "fresh start" server, but I don't really think that was the point of making an APAC server. Of course it may be reasonable to wait a short while to enable transfers for the sake of preventing economic chaos, but certainly not for long enough that the novelty of the new server wears off and the population tanks.
  6. I'd have to agree that this doesn't seem like a huge issue (though a minor annoyance, yes). I mean, it's not like anyone would list their own items at exorbitant prices just so they could buy them and mess up the historical price data. I'd imagine that the fees would deter that sort of behavior.
  7. Another game I play did this -- for a loooong time, there was a cap on how much currency you could take when you transferred servers from an old one to a newer one. I don't think it needs to be super low (so long as the no-transfer period is long enough to get the fresh economy going), but it could definitely help prevent hyperinflation.
  8. I can understand why server transfer won't be available right away. In FFXIV when they re-launched the game and added new servers, they did the same thing and didn't allow transfers to the new servers for awhile. Probably helps keep the economy from getting too wonky, not to mention new players getting a truly fresh start. That said, I hope this new server pulls in more players (or brings back ones that quit long ago) because Satele Shan really doesn't need a population drain!
  9. True, I do love those CQ points you can get from the reputation items! Though I can't speak for everyone's experiences, I find that just by participating in GS, I acquire more than enough seasonal currency to turn in to get one reputation item to use per day. Even just playing the game normally without trying to do GS objectives, I would still complete enough to get 7 reputation items to use per week.
  10. I really like companions, but I'd rather have fewer higher quality ones, and if that means no more companions as GS rewards, so be it. And by higher quality, I mean companions that have armor slots so we can customize them, and preferably some that speak Basic. Not that I dislike the droids and gibberish-speakers, but we've gotten an awful lot of those lately. This seems kind of okay-ish, maybe? The seasonal reputation items I find useless, as I never bother to max out the reputation as the reward has always just been a title that I'm not interested in/isn't worth that much trouble to me. So the Jawa Intel boost is kind of meh as well. The pet definitely has potential, but pets would be a lot more of an incentive if you guys would finally fix that bug that causes pets to poof every time we change areas. Might I suggest some more new companion customizations for the "all class" companions as new season rewards? Arcann could really use some that are actually available (you could even just move the ones from the Dark and Light vendors to the GS vendor), Paxton doesn't have any at all, and even new hairstyle looks for Lana and Theron would probably be welcome.
  11. I'd be disappointed by the lack of companions in GS if they were actually good. Which for me, means having actual armor slots so we can dress them as we want (like Altuur), and preferably at least some companions that speak basic and are generally human-ish. I like droids and such too (would actually love another cute astromech), but Amity was so, so lazy. A normal human with no armor slots and that speaks Selonian? C'mon! That said, I would hope that there will be additional rewards in the next GS track to compensate for the fact that there is no companion. Say what you will about having too many of them, an essentially "free" level 50 companion is something that I do appreciate, especially for alts.
  12. Sadly, this is nothing new. I rummaged around and found a couple of old screencaps I took of this issue in 2014: https://imgur.com/0fCxakd https://imgur.com/woB5gMq I find it is somewhat less noticeable on lighter colored Twi'lek skins, but it is still visible in a lot of lighting. It seems to be that the texture quality for the body is lower than for the face/neck. It doesn't stop me from playing Twi'leks, but I avoid any tops that don't cover the neck "seam".
  13. That outfit, however impractical, looks quite nice! I would love to buy something like that for my Jedi, provided they didn't give it a lot of obnoxiously undyeable brown parts. Some Twi'lek headgear that doesn't cover the face would be great too. Actually, I'd like more pretty outfits that are less bulky in general. The stuff we've been getting lately is cool and I do appreciate it, but I'd like some sleeker looks. No shoulder pads, no waist pads, no backpacks, no asymmetrical pauldrons, no airplane wings, no antennae. Oh! And no bulky collars that clip with everything that isn't short or an updo.
  14. Wow! That High Roller chest piece has an impressive amount of potential for clipping with all kinds of hairstyles, not just longer ones! I'm sure the designers intended for it to be used with the matching headpiece, but I daresay this is not a set for people who prefer their characters to have hair that is both visible and longer than around ear length. Heck, it looks like to might even clip into lekku in the back, too! Other than that it does look quite nice though. I'm glad they are putting the pieces on the vendor, I may pick up a couple of them.
  15. Thank you Mr. Kanneg for the clarification, but this news is still very disheartening. From what I have seen posted here about Broadsword, I am . . . not optimistic. That said, I still have a lot of content to do in SWTOR so I will stick around as a month-to-month sub for awhile at least. Hopefully by the time FFXIV puts out their next expansion it will be apparent whether or not SWTOR is truly going into maintenance mode or not, so I can decide if I want to go back to XIV or not. I really love Star Wars, and would prefer a Star Wars MMO, but not a dead one. Time will tell, I suppose!
  16. I could be wrong, but due to the way server mergers were handled and the fact that the west coast US used to have separate servers, I believe a good chunk of the APAC players are on Satele Shan. This is a bit concerning to me, as SS already seems to be the less populous of the two US servers. I don't think it is too small, but it really doesn't need a population drain IMHO. But who knows what Bioware is planning to do with the servers; this may be a non-issue. Another popular game I play (FFXIV) that had a lot of super crowded servers recently opened APAC servers and I've heard that they still have a rather low population. I'd be very surprised if Bioware opened a new server just for the APAC region.
  17. I'm really glad that GS4 is coming with this patch! It is nice to have less of a gap between seasons, I feel like it has been too much of a gap in the past. I'm looking forward to the new Stronghold, and am very curious about the companion!
  18. The Altuur's Exquisite weapons from GS1 have a fair bit of gold. I use the pistol on my Trooper, and it looks quite elegant. The gold is trim, except at the bottom of the handle (grip?) where most of it is, so it shows quite well when sheathed. The "Ornate" ones have some gold too, they look a bit duller though (and beware, the sound is very different IIRC). Not sure if they are long enough to be pirate-y though, but you may want to check them out if you haven't. Hope you find what you're looking for!
  19. Some great ideas in the above post! I'd also suggest: Turn off some of your Companion's abilities, put them on passive, or simply unsummon them. I imagine that would make a big difference. You could also only use them in their "original" role, ex: Aric as a DPS, Khem as a tank, etc. So no healer for Knights until they get Doc, and so on and so forth. If possible for your combat style, you can use a sub-optimal weapon type. Ex: blaster rifle on a Sniper or Commando. (I think this is still possible, as my Sniper can still use blaster rifles, but not sure if it has changed for any combat styles since 7.0). This will be a bit of a nerf to your DPS. And if you really want to get that fresh launch feel, turn off sprint for your first 10 levels, don't use a speeder until you hit Tatooine, and don't taxi/QT anywhere you haven't already been.
  20. Bioware, if you guys want to add credit sinks in the form of travel costs, instead of making Strongholds and QT cost credits to use, how about adding a fee to heroic mission transports instead? That would, in effect, simply be lowering the credit reward you get from completing them. I also do find the idea of adding fees to the travel terminals for daily areas (to CZ-198, Yavin, etc) quite reasonable and a good idea for a credit sink. Also, the more I think about having a fee added to QT the more I hate the idea. Back in the day I paid a pretty penny to shorten the cooldown on this wonderful convenience feature, and it makes leveling so, so much less tedious. I use it a ton and I love it. IMHO, adding what is essentially a "tedium avoidance fee" where there hasn't been one for the past 10-ish years is probably not the best idea. I know I hate it, at least. Same goes for Stronghold travel fees, depending. I'm leveling a new character and I can't tell you how much tedious travel I've saved myself by popping to my SH --> ship for every darn "Use your ship's Holoterminal" at the end of a mission arc. Part of the appeal of Strongholds is the ability to freely come and go and quickly hop around without restriction. Even now that I literally have a billion credits (well, maybe 2 billion, I am probably poor by some people's standards) I STILL don't use the cross-faction SH's because I am habitually deterred by the fee.
  21. I jumped on the PTS for a WZ match today, and let me preface this post by saying that I am an awful PvP'er. Though I have done some PvP in the past, I haven't queue'd up for several years, so my best was probably pretty lousy. But I figure even a little feedback might be helpful, I hope? Medals earned: 6, for a loss. I played a Sage healer. Honestly, I think if I was a better player I could have gotten more medals. My team didn't do that great, but I don't think it was bad matchmaking. I suppose I haven't enough experience with matchmaking to really comment, though.
  22. The new travel credit sinks will cost roughly the same for players of all wealth levels, from poorer players to the extremely rich. I believe this is what they call in economics a "regressive tax" (well, not a tax here, but similar concept), meaning that the richer you are the less of a burden it is. In real life, an example of this would be sales tax on food: everybody eats, and though a person who makes $20 million a year may spend more on food than a person who makes $20K a year, it is nowhere near 1000x as much. Thus, the poor person pays a larger percentage of their income towards food tax than a rich person does. Of course, it isn't a perfect comparison, but I think you get the idea. The ability to freely pop from my Stronghold, to Fleet, to my ship, or back where I was has been a fantastic QoL enhancement for me and has made the game more enjoyable by reducing much of the tedium of travel. To add a fee to this, and to make newer players especially think twice about using this wonderful feature, is a terrible idea IMHO. Credit sinks are definitely needed, but please consider doing so via (what will be perceived as) REWARDS rather than PUNISHMENTS. This thread has some great ideas, and I would reiterate: 1. Vendors with shiny expensive things. Mount recolors, crystals, whatever. Remember back in 1.1.5 how you guys added a vendor with rare and SUPER expensive (at the time) color crystals? I was a fairly "middle class" player at the time and could barely scrape together the credits for one item, and they were selling like hotcakes. THAT is how you do a credit sink! 2. Raise the GTN cap so people can list their super expensive stuff on it, and get taxed. Seriously, there are so many things you just . . . can't get on the GTN anymore, because they are too expensive. Probably need to do something about such pricey items being traded outside the GTN to avoid tax, as well.
  23. Thanks for the update, and Happy Holidays to the dev team! 7.2 seems quite good, from what little of it I've experienced (so far). I'm looking forward to future updates. That said, I must admit to being disappointed in the CM sale. I could be wrong, but it looks to me like the least popular categories are the ones that were chosen to be included. Though I often spend CC on "utility" stuff (appearance change, rename, etc), I rarely buy cosmetic items like armor as I feel that a lot of them are rather pricey. I bought a ton of stuff during last year's CM sale, but it looks like I'll be saving some money this year as the mounts and armor sets I had my eye on aren't included. And I already unlocked almost everything I wanted to during previous unlock sales, so unless I get some new goodies to unlock, not a lot of spending happening there either.
  24. I don't know about three weeks, but I do agree that one week seems short. Of course I can't speak for everyone (and I know not everyone celebrates Christmas), but for me at least, Christmas and Christmas Eve aren't all that great for marathon leveling sessions. Family and festivities, y'know? IMHO, it'd be nice if it lasted 2 weeks. Last year's double XP event started on the 20th as well but went until Jan 4th.
  25. Paxton and Nico Ocarr are also not customizable (though really should be IMHO). That said, I kinda get why Arcann isn't, but there is absolutely no excuse for how difficult/impossible it is to get customizations for him. I actually have DvL tokens on a couple of my characters, but they aren't ones that have/use Arcann and the customizations are BoP (unlike everything else on the vendor). More on topic, I am really excited for 7.2 and Life Day! Can't wait to snag some shiny new snowglobes for my Strongholds and get silly holiday speeders for my newer characters. I'm really happy that it wasn't delayed, the 13th is just perfect IMHO.
