Guild Protest

Should be in the suggestion thread, but I agree.

There needs to be more guild tools.

As a guild leader if I am not online, I can not see who comes or goes from the guild. As a guild, we can not plan events in game, instead we have to use an out of game website to plan most events. Which most of the time members don't see because they pay monthly to play the game, not stalk the guild website.

Things that need added for guilds.

Tax system from individual questing that deposits to guild bank.

The devs admitted they forgot about that when guild banks came out.

A guild challenge banner. Similar to the faction banners.

A attendance tracker that shows when person "X" was last online.

3 ranking systems...

1. Pve progression

2. Pvp reputation

3. Combo of the scores and overall rank.

Calendar system

Guild war ship

Love the point made that community in game means players would care more about the game because to a large extent that is true. Besides all of what has been said, which I agree with, I think that a lot of the temporary weekly boosts to exp, valor, etc. like they have in GW2 would be nice.

To speak Bioware's language of choice now though I would also add that all of the boosts and customizations to guild ships and lots of other guild perks be purchasable with some type of guild currency that you buy with Cartel Coins. This would be a large revenue source and if used to augment guilds would be a fairly constant money stream. The larger your guild the more donations of "Guild Commendation" lets say you'll get. Not a perfect system, but let's face it the days of the old Legacy type system are gone and they'd have to have a $ reason to do all this. Cheers and good thread.

Cuts their xp on the mobs down considerably.

i helped a lowel level guild player who was at level 21 while i was at level 37 with hammer station and athiss flashpoints. i got low xp only 6xp for each flashpoint no points for kills at all. those missions for me at level 37 are in the grey color. they really need to put in a system for things like that. esp with the guild limit of 500 players. and then you have some guild members going ahead level wise three to four levels above you and it's not ideal to group up with them or players who are five or so levels below you.

There has to be something for guilds to work towards.

Simply running flash points and ops offers little to the guild once people are geared up or find the content stale and not worth effort not to pick up the missing piece of gear. Even deleveling to help guildies offers only a very minor option when it comes to content and what guilds could offer.

So to this end I think guild captial ships are a must, to start with they should be in some way viewable from the ground or space station as a ship floating in space where the guild master gets to pick what planet or zone they want it over. This way even for the look alone it adds something as you go to Balmora and see your captial ship from the space port. Then they should offer similar bonuses to what WAR did in the form of group buffs, long cool down orbital strikes, meeting places and some bonuses to space.

Importantly none of this should work in PvP but outside of PvP the option for the captial ship to launch fighters to assist in a space mission etc is a nice buff that may make the mission easier but as long as they aren't needed to complete it then its not game breaking. Any more than when we get the extra 5 levels waiting till you are 55th to take on HM FP which you will be better geared and leveled for.

Before asking for all this features - it's good to check how they were implemented in other MMOs and how exactly they work with live people.

Adding guild ship\hall - means less people on Fleet\Planets. No one will do this.

And guild sub-forums, no one will use them. If guild really want forum, they create it outside. It's very easy now and cost small sum of money. If guild doesn't want a forum that bad, when why bother with creation?

Add there moderation issues and separation of current forum community to 100+ subforums.

Guild mail - that's the point of it? Usually guild consist of 20-50 live players and 100-200 their second, third, fourth characters, etc. You will be first to rage about this guild mails, when logging to your twink and see 50+ guild mails you already see on your other chars.

Guild calendar - good feature. But check WoW - it's not so great as you think. 95% of players doesn't use it)

If you create some guild "action" and add it to calendar - from 100 your guildmembers around 20-30 will subscribe, around 10 will decline, other won't notice it.

And even after all of this - in designated time online will be 10-15 your members. And half of them already forget about this action and was doing some daily quests\ leveling twinks.

Guild search - very strange feature. Again, ask in WoW community how this feature working. But I fear it's not)

Guild experience boost - it's already implemented in Legacy system. Why add it again?

From good things that should be added - guild tax, last online, MOTD. Guild operation recall and revive.

Things that will make life of guild leader and officers less painful.

So if 2 lvl 20 players group with a lvl 50 player to do Athiss for example, the lvl20 players will accrue reduced xp for the run because the lvl50 player is there? As if the xp rewards are scaled to the highest leveled player??

Almost spot on - xp from kills is reduced drastically. On the extreme end, a lowbies might get 1-10% of original kill xp. Quest xp remains the same however.

There are other mmo's out there which have a mentoring program whereas the high level mentors the lower level. The details depend on how it is set up, but the gist is that the high level reduces their level to that of the lowbie so as not to affect their xp gains while also helping them.

The extent of my helping lowbies usually involves doing a quick lowbie FP run, Heroic 4 group missions or just blitzing them through their class quests. I've got a RL friend at level 22 and he's completed Act 2 of his class story. His companion can pretty much solo any at level heroic 2 quest he picks up.

Red-V, Leader of The Jedi on Tomb of Freedon Nadd euro pvp server.

We have a fair size guild of over 300 members and all we realy have to show for it is a guild bank and Guild chat.

I would Like some kind of guild place to meet up and hold dueling competitions and other games maybe, a place where our bank plus other things you need to go to fleet for are all in one place for our guild.

I also think guild should gain bonus over time, rewards for keeping a guild together, say something like every 3 months your guild is together you open up a new rewards such a guild banners and so on.

And it would be good to see a guild war option, guild leaders could agree to a guild war in an accept duel type of way, any member who didn't want to take part and be attackable on site by the other guild could click their portrait and toggle on/off guild war.

The options are almost limitless yet we see almost no reward for being guilded.

Yeah. Almost every MMO prevents you from just grouping a max-level character with low-level characters and going on a slaughterfest without some kind of reduced reward. However, most other games either:

A) Don't cut back the EXP so badly as to make it unviable, or;

B) Allow the high-level character to do some form of temporary level change and reduce their stats to that of a low level character.

If "B" can be done optionally it'd be great. But the ability to boost some "lowbie" through a flashpoint, heroic or class boss fight, should stay.

As mentioned by a few folks before, I suggest the following...

6) The ability to declare war on another guild, based on a vote, allowing same faction open PVP against the enemy guild on sight.

hmmm... forcibly flagging for PvP everybody in the guild on such an arbitrary thing like a vote ? Bad idea. Now, if one could avoid the flagging regardless of the "war status", well dont see the harm.

I don't really understand what this thread is protesting... You want more guild leader control features?

Honestly, this game's problems have nothing to do with guilds. It's almost 2013 and most MMOers are used to having robust games with many years of content. SWTOR is still too young, and of course players are going to get bored with it and move on. No amount of forum protesting will change that.

Thank you for crapping on what is an intelligent, insightful, and much needed thread. Your negativity is unhelpful.

I have been playing for ONE year and am liking this game more than ever (in spite of its weaknesses). The OP is addressing one of main areas that needs improvement: Guild Mechanics and Functionality. His points are valid and if addressed will improve game play. MOST peeps on these forums want the game to succeed. Constructive criticism is part of that process.

Yes to a guild taxing system! Currently the only way to fund the guild banks is to donate and not enough people are doing it even when there is communication about it.

I think this thread is a good idea, but to call it a protest and that the game fails without the guild features is absurd. The thread would be better if you titled it as Guild Content Suggestions and keeping it constructive rather than threatening. Just saying the thread started off on the wrong foot with the choice of words.

In other MMO's I have played, the guild city and crafting always seemed to bring peeps together. While I like the companion system there is no player gathering needed to promote relationships and bring in credits. Dailies for money is nice, but there is no compare to selling your good resources to a crafter.

I do have to agree with the lower level issue as well. Its hard to play with others if there is a large level gap.

World pvp was always fun with your guild in past MMO's. In warzones you form your well balanced group and just run with 4 peeps. You could do ranked but its not fun if your guild is not elite pvp wise.

There has been a lack of IG events also. I think just 2 in a year? If you dangle a carrot with a timer to get it peeps will log in and guildies will group to get things done.

Great thread and nice too see some good ideas =)

I've decided to add to it because I am a Guild Leader myself and feel somethings can be improved on. The guild I run has, at peak time, anywhere from 15 - 20 active members. To give you a background we're a social guild that caters mostly to casuals, we do have a solid group for PvP and for PvE and I hold events where possible for the Guild to come together and socialise though sometimes we find it doesn't work; like when we tried to bring Bullrush into SWTOR but turns out guild members couldn't attack each other in the Outlaws Den so we just did our Secret Santa and left it at that.

We focus more or enjoying the game and seeing content so that's the mindset where most of my below suggestions will be coming from.

Some might be out there or might not work at all, you may agree or disagree or hate the very idea itself but the point will be to just read them and improve on them and shape them into something that hopefully can work.

Its a long list I know, I tried to be as detailed as possible. Enjoy the novel ^^

Ideas For Guild Improvement

- Mentor Option; so you can scale down to that players level to help them out in quests/flashpoints without decreasing their experience gain. Maybe even adding in a Mentor Exp Bar, more people you Mentor the more exp you get (Think the Social/Valor Rank) and have a Vendor that lets you buy fluff and stuff.

- Guild Calender; Guild Leader can set permissions on which ranks can post events, people that sign up to events can be messaged in advanced as a reminder. Maybe when creating an event, the Event Creator can make a request to those that sign up to fill in a form that asks for details on level, spec/role, class, gear etc if the event requires details on these things (the person creating this event could just tick an option to have this form or not; if requesting sign ups to fill one in then the Event Creator can select which questions they want asked.)

- Mass Guild Mail; To avoid unwanted spam being sent to guildies you could make this feature an option also that the Guild Leader can set up in Permissions. Have it so you can select which ranks to send it too (if you don't want to flood the inboxs of everyones alts with messages theyll see on their main.)

- Guild Search; Those looking for a Guild could head to the Guild Register to find out which guilds their are on the server. Guild Leaders can submit their guild details and a description and details on their Recruitment (what classes they are looking for etc) and if they are recruiting.

- Guild Ships/Bases; If you bring these in make them beneficial to guilds. When purchased, Guilds can start out with the a basic Meeting Room or whatever and in time can purchase different buildings that brings something else to those in the guild. For example: Meeting Room - Able to create an Alliance with another guild on the Server, Barracks - When resting in the Barracks you gain rest experience at a faster rate or you get a refreshed buff that gives you an Endurace boost, Armory - Go here, use something an gain a temp buff to increase crafting times/criticals, Common Room - Games for guilds to partake in Socially (Guild can enter a Huttball map and play a game, no comms will be awarded etc as it is done socially and maybe help guildies practice their warzones.) Ship Hanger - Gives an exp to Space Combat missions or a boost to ship defences.

- Raidable Guild Ships/Bases; Have it so Guilds can set up an attack on another guilds base. Bases can have defences built inside and members protecting their base from the oncomming attack. Attack must be agreed upon. Repairs can cost either credits or guild members going in with craft materials to rebuild the base. Nothing drastic or people will be put off doing it.

- G/quit Log; For the Guild Leader to see who has left and when they left. I know as a GM I like to find out why people leave so it can be improved upon. Most of the time it is because raid times don't suit or they want something more dedicated to raiding but sometimes it might be because they felt bullied by another member which is a problem that would need to be solved. But as Im not on 24/7 I might miss a person leaving so it would be good to have a log saying who and when. (If there is one that does exist can someone point it out to me lol)

- A More Descriptive Guild Panel; When opening up your Guild Panel I believe the layout could be alot nicer - some people I've found don't realise they need to scroll down with their mouse wheel on the Guild Description to read more so miss important info like Vent Details, Website details etc. So improve the layout. You dont need to clutter it either, Have the guild description shown then below the guild description and above the Member List, have a buttons that say Website, Voice Server, Rules so that when a Guild Member clicks on these buttons a box pops up with the information the Guild Leader has entered.

- Alt Linking - If most people are like me in SWTOR they'll have alot of alts, currenlty I have members name their main in their Alts Member Note and put them in a Member Alt rank. This can get messy though so if there was a way Members could link their Alts to their Main or a way for the Guild Leader to do it then I would be quite handy. Would also help during an Inactive clean out as sometimes alts can be removed.

- Tax System - Ability to opt in or out of course, but when questing take a % off the credits you loot from a body or missions you complete. Have it in the Ledger to show what Members have contributed from this System so that if Guild Leaders want to reward Members for doing this they have a way to see who is contributing and who isn't.

- Guild Bannar/Armor Logo/Tattoo (Wishing with the Guild tattoo I know hehe) - Depending on what your character wants to wear; the Trooper could have his guild logo painted on his armor where as a Sage might wear it on their bracers. Guild Banner could be bought and used as a Buff during fights which affects those in guild.

Very sorry if reading that was hard for some, no doubt Ill think of more ideas. ^^
