Groovenburge
I'm just dropping in to say thanks, this helped with with my FPS drops My rig could not get above 40 FPS and would drop every time I walked forward, had people or NPCs nearby, started using powers etc. But now it's a constant 30. Rig AMD FX - 8150 3.6GHz 32GB RAM GTX690 SLI GTX 580 1TB HDD (game installed)
prophetnikoz
Thank you so much! I had some ideas to put game files into ram. Even made a ramdisk, decided to make hardlinks from to RAM. But that turned out to be complete headache in windows (Linux user). You made a brilliant app which drives a lot of performance to SWTOR. In fact, ANY non-64 bit game could benefit from your idea. I use SWTOR Unleashed on: Desktop PC : Core-i3 3220 , 8GB ram Laptop: Celeron B-815, 8GR ram Helps a lot from framerate drops. Especially on the Celeron-based system, which has weak cpu-to-peripherals (like HDD) performance. Framerate is stable, sudden effects no longer lag or don't appear. Thank you so much:)
laz_AU
I see there are 2 areas in the list US_Area and Area Like there mirrored except for the US in front... Reason? I'm wondering the same thing...
Phrosterr
One thing I could not find in the extensive description of this program. This may also have been discussed already, I didn't read through all the 60 pages. You can also save the contents of the RAM disk with ImDisk, to an image file. And you can load this after a reboot, no need to run Unleashed everytime you reboot your PC. Also one thing I'm missing, how about the settings files. If I don't save my RAM back to a disk before a reboot, will I lose all my settings created after the RAM disk was created? *edit*figured it out, it gets saved in SWTOR_originalsomehow this went wrong the first time i started the game with unleashed, no settings were put on the ramdisk the first time. JediMasterSkid
Will this benefit me and my laptop? I'm not all that computer savy at all. I have game-booster on and have everything selected when playing but I want to know if this will benefit me. The problem I have really is loading times from logging in and going planet to planet. But short of buying a new computer I want to know if I can do anything to help. FPS ain't to bad get a few lag spikes now and again but It is playable on low settings its just loading times I suffer from. Any help would be great thanks and Happy SWTOR'ing. ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 11/17/2013, 16:51:48 Machine name: SKID-HP Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130828-1532) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard System Model: HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC BIOS: Default System BIOS Processor: AMD Phenom II N830 Triple-Core Processor (3 CPUs), ~2.1GHz Memory: 4096MB RAM Available OS Memory: 1786MB RAM Page File: 2329MB used, 1243MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11 DX Setup Parameters: Not found User DPI Setting: Using System DPI System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 32bit Unicode ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------ Display Tab 1: No problems found. Lustephelon
@skid your laptop has a tricore processor and 4 GB of RAM if I am reading correctly. This lack of RAM will cause you issues both with running the game at speed and with using a RAM disk based accelerator like Unleashed. This program takes a portion of 'excess' RAM and preloads files into it so they are accessed faster, with your system you won't have enough RAM to run TOR, windows and the RAMDISK. Since your issue is limited to load times, I can recommend you check into two options. First check your hard disk speed and if your not running 7200RPM or greater drives then upgrading the drive speed will help load times. Second is to upgrade your RAM to the maximum allowed by your motherboard. If this is at least 8GB then you can use unleashed to preload some of the files to help your performance. DarthVitrial
A new version of IMDisk (1.7.6) just came out. Anyone know if it works with SWTOR Unleashed?

That said, unleased doesnt seem to be working as well as it used to for some reason maybe it just needs updating given all the new patches
Sheike
No offense to Exca, but is there a better written set of instructions for properly using this program?
Lustephelon
No offense to Exca, but is there a better written set of instructions for properly using this program? How do you mean? You install the program. you run it with admin privledges. the first time you open the settings, add check marks appropriate to your amount of RAM. Specifics on what files do what are not defined and you have to experiment with them, in part because some of these change patch to patch. Save the settings and run the program. When you want to undo/remove the RAMdrive you reopen the launcher and choose remove and quit.

Satanski
Hey all I have a problem using unleashed. Sometimes when i start the game with unleashed and there is a new patch, updater redownloads almost entire (or all of it) game again. Couple montths back i even gave up on the game completely becouse i was too pissed off after another redownloading. GSF took me back so im curious if there is some way to avoid the problem? I hate this damend engine and cant force myself to play groud game without unleashed. Thanks in advance

Bstr
Galactic Starfighter broke SWTOR Unleashed. If I try to load through SWTOR Unleashed, the game freezes (and can also freeze your computer as well) If I Deselect everything in the Options, I get about a -200 MB file size for the RAM Drive with the new patch. This -200 MB adds into everything if I select my normal assets and the +100 MB extra option. When I make the RAM Drive, windows complains that the Drive is getting low on space. The game plays fine for me, but this bug might be what is crashing your game: SWTOR Unleashed cannot fit everything on the RAM Drive it makes. Try selecting the +100 MB extra option until this bug is fixed. EDIT: I was running an old version of SWTOR Unleashed. Updating to 3.4.2 fixed this problem. Looks like ill have to run retail first everytime to be sure they didnt add some unannounced hotfix. Its better than redownloading this crap all the time hehe. Thanks. I hate this damend engine and cant force myself to play groud game without unleashed. Thanks in advance Thats not unleashed, thats the bitraider patcher most likely unless your unleashed is running when the patch goes out. To fix, if you have the st in the lower left corner, look up posts on reorganizing data and it will tell you how to modify the patching to the old way. If unleashed is running when a patch comes it, it can cause the system to try to patch the RAM disk files not the originals, which will cause issues. make sure to remove and quit or use the retail function for patches. Once the patch is working unleashed normally works fine. If unleashed seems to crash after a patch, try deleting the config file for it and reloading, chances are the file sizes changed and it needs to be adjusted in the settings file. SamuelAU
For the life of me I can't get this program to work. I've updated Microsoft .NET Framework and ImDisk numerous times and rebooted when prompted, but every time I try and open up SWTOR Unleashed I'm given something about "system.windows.interactivity publickeytoken=31bf3856ad364e35". I haven't got a clue what I can do to make this program run and it's annoying, since apart from upgrading my PC this is my only hope for running the game more smoothly. Today i started the game with its standard shortcut and making sure there is no unleashed ram drive installed. Right now patcher is redownloading over 40% of the game again. Ill try to disable bitraider before next patch to see if it work any better.
cpanther
I always a bit aware of installing things like this...I already have an overclocking feature in my computer, and the game runs smoothly at higher settings, except for shadows that I have to have them at low settings. Any point on me installing this ?

After donwloading about 12% it completely stopped. I chaged launcher to use old patcher and offcourse game is redownloading it all again. If it ever happen again im done with this crap. How is it they cant even create properly working updater? Never saw such inept developers. Last time i thought that maybe there is something wrong with my SSD but now im using a new one and it happens again.

Any point on me installing this ? This does not overclock you computer or RAM. All that it does is copy certain game files from the hard drive to RAM and makes the computer think that the drive in RAM is another hard drive. It then creates shortcuts on the original hard drive pointing to the RAM drive to get SWTOR to look on the RAM drive for the certain game files. The problem some run into is similar to Satanski: when BioWare updates their game, you must run the game in "normal" mode first to update the files on the hard drive then let SWTOR Unleashed make a new RAM drive. If you have over 4 GB of RAM, I would recommend you use this program if you do more than sit on the fleet. This program helps with reducing loading times between places, but will cause the game to take longer to load at startup.

Any point on me installing this ? No. It may make different planets load a bit faster but that is about it. sure, you might see some improvement but then you have the hassle of dealing with a 3rd party tool. The big bang for the buck (i.e. your time) is for people running on marginal hardware that has lots of RAM.
