Possibiliity of new classes in the future?

If Creature Handler and Droidmech were implemented as "pet classes" I'd roll 1 of each.

I like the idea of a non-jedi/sith melee like a Pit Fighter, Gladiator.

The idea of a buff/CC class intrigues me. Witches of Dathomir possibly?

Really what i'd like to see most are force sensitive types who aren't jedi/sith. If anyone can figure out a way to get them into the game w/o breaking canon i'd love to hear more.

I'm confused by your force-sensitive request. Your hero in this game is force sensitive. Much like Han Solo, you may or may not believe in it, but you're sensitive to it.

Considering each new class would require VO for male/female for each existing quest(multiply that by 2, as they can't exatly just add class to one faction and not the other), and all those they'll add in a future...

2 years or more, if ever

Hello moderators. Is there any chance of getting some information on whether or not we will see some new classes in the future? I think I can speak for everyone here that a non-jedi/sith melee warrior class is in high demand. I personally would like to see some new jedi/sith classes in the future. A jedi class that could off-heal while being close to on par with the melee abilities of a guardian would be my dream class (something very similar to a paladin in other games). It would mean the world to me and many other players if you got the word out that new classes are in development. Thanks for reading and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If you have never played an MMO I could understand this question, but cmon man... It happens in every MMO and we can barely get info on known NEW content. What makes you think they will give you a definite yes or no to this...... Were you bored?

Of course there will be new classes at some point. Which MMO has not released new classes in 2 years? This thread is pointless and you shamelessly bumping it is ridiculous. Saying that this question is an end all for some people 7 months after release? You have got to be kidding me..... Make a real topic.

Combat medic!

Please

I want to be able to heal and dps at the same time

Errrrr.....

That's called hybrid spec. Hybrid specs can be done. As a matter of practicality they're generally inferior to dedicated specs in PvE, although there are some viable hybrid specs in PvP. If you want to heal and dps the operative hybrid heal/dps spec is supposed to be pretty strong.

I think the best option for this would be a class that required melee to heal. though WoW capitalized on this recently, it's been in MMO's for along time now. a Hybrid wouldn't fit this mold....the current best example of a successful battle healer/buffer to me is the captain from LotRO. had shielding abilities that they can assist a shield brother with (toggle a group member..he gets the benefits) heals that come from hitting other mobs, special abilities that are procced only after defeating a mob...some of the best buffs in the game...they are their best in the thick of the battle in a group of players. and they weren't a hybrid as much as an individual class who's abilities increased the more people they were with. fun class.

It was my original thought way back when they had made the jedi consular. bit it didn't end up that way sadly. so i would think the Jedi would have that kind of healer....a battle medic if its a non force version, can't think of a good name for a jedi equivalent.

As long as the can make a new class without the voice overs....think about it, how long would it take to make a new class and try to include it with the current story lines+ voice overs??

I think that's a problem there: inability to incorporate a new class efficiently like other mmo's out there.

The problem is twofold, firstly the amount of work all the voice overs would take for a new class, plus the work of adding an exclusive 200 hour unique class story from level 1 to 50. The 2nd problem is that if you don't do the voice overs and the class story then a large section of your player base will not but it if they are F2P and rage unsub if they are P2P.

There are plenty of people begging for new class stories, players that were drawn to this game because of those stories and voice overs, releasing a class without one would be another nail in the coffin.

I think the best you can expect is a splitting of the the advance classes for more specialist roles, that said I would love to see a traditional pet class in this game.

I think it's unlikely, only due to cost involved because of the VO mechanic and current design. It really is a shame, the game launched with only 6 real classes and will not likely see any more from my perspective.

There should have been a Sith Trooper (Stormtrooper or Dark Trooper), Republic Officer (counter to Agent), Imperial Runner (Sith Smuggler), Republic Marshal (counter to BH) or BH and Smuggler should have been neutral and chose their faction after the first two planets.

That would have made for three factions, and many different playstyles. To have the Bounty Hunter be the mirror for Trooper or Agent the mirror for Smuggler is just silly IMO.

A non jedi melee class. There are plenty of vibroweapon wielding NPCs in the game so I don't see why not. Something like maybe a Republic Senate guard and a gladiator. Or alternatively an Imperial Royal Guard and a Republic Guerilla. Edited by Blighboy

Eliminate advanced classes, and combine their coolest powers. I don't want to play a Merc or a PT. I want to play a BH. I don't want to play an Operative or a Sniper. I want to play an Imperial Agent. This would make the classes more fun, and also eliminate the drudgery of having to decide which advanced class to play, effectively breathing new life into the class system.

Of course, I've been playing less than a month, so my idea is probably hideously flawed.

But, in all honesty, you can't expect Bioware and EA to want to straight-up copy another MMO. And, not to seem harsh toward something you obviously enjoyed, a failed MMO at that. SWG was a VERY niche game. It was like playing The Sims in Space.

Bioware isn't exactly renowned for making games where crafting and hanging out in a cantina are ways to advance your character. Heck, the market isn't even facing that direction.

Because they never 'straight up' copy anything...

Before you get your hopes up, please realise that they could never introduce Wookiees, Yodas and Jawas. Reason why is because the whole story thing is dependent on a HUMANOID and BASIC SPEAKING individual.

Stop asking for something you will likely never get without thinking about how it would work.

A new class could PROBABLY work, I put emphasis on the 'probably' because all the planets are built to accomodate the existing story areas. Adding another class would mean more story, which will drastically change the existing maps.

If we can understand npcs talking an alien language, then that argument is invalid.

I would add to that. They could make a new starting planet for the new class. Not that hard. The rest of the planets class story is so infrequent, that it would not be hard to add a tiny instance here and there for it.

I like this idea for the non-force using classes and was actually wondering why they hadn't done them like this just the other day when I was talking to some friends about trying out the game.

You obviously didnt pay attention when they said there wouldnt be non combat classes in this game. This isnt SWG, and thank goodness for that fact.

I suggest you check out the emulated SWG servers if you want that nonsense.

I liked the idea suggested prior of a Jedi that could do a bit of spot healing ala a Paladin.
