Who do we pay when we rip mods out?

:D Do you get anything for doing those?

When you have posted 120 daily complaints, you can go to the planet TEDIUM and a trade for a NagMaster2000 Party Pooper gun. It emits a loud whine which tends to make other people leave you alone. :D

Yup. I have to agree, paying to have to take mods I've already paid for / made, are bound to me already, out of my already bound gear, is about the dumbest idea in an MMO I've ever seen.

Sure discourages people from being able to have multiple suits of mod gear from changing things up too often, because, should you wish to change your wardrobe on a whim, Bioware gonna make sure you pay, sucker!

I think the idea was you were supposed to use the special node and in theory were paying a "specialist" to take the mod out so it wasn't ruined. I guess it was in an effort to add convenience to the game you could now do it yourself but still pay.

I don't really have a problem with still paying and elimination the need to go back to one of the crafting tables.

I think the OP may be ignorant to the possibility that his weapons and armour may have bills to pay and mouths to feed.

Only yesterday my offhand lightsaber finally got the funds it needed to pay off her mortgage on the house. My boots are more desperate for a distraction than credits though. A few months ago his gilfriend left him for some boots that still needed to get paid for upgrades. It's really depressing. :(

Wanna meet an inanimate object that's on a REALLY high payroll? Meet the workbench from Dead Island.

Literally LMAO'd at this. Well played, good sir, well played. Never played Dead Island though, as soon as I saw the leveling/Diablo-y item system I was like "Nupe, screw that"

The difference is that you are paying to remove the mod so it will be usable again.

You can dismantle your car without knowing what you are doing but that is no guarantee that all those dismantled parts will be usable when it is put back together. With out proper tools you can strip bolts, ruin a computer chip.

So basically if they used the mod tables like they were supposed to, it would be in effect paying a professional to take it out so it can be used again in something else.

Just sticking the new mod in without first removing it is like ripping the old one out and replacing it with a new one.

This^^

I believe the payment is the cost of using a specialized workbench to remove the mod. Better mods demand more time at the workbench, that is why they are more expensive to remove.

Just because you dont actually go to a physical workbench to remove the mod doesnt mean you are not using one, Being able to remove mods instantly without taking your character first to a workbench is just a game mechanic to make things more convenient for you. Use your imagination in this case.

This is how most RL tax systems work. :D

I have to pay myself my own money which disappears when I make mods myself, make items myself, and rip them out myself?[..]

And anything made by the player should be FREE to take mods out from.

I have asked this myself before. It's ridiculous. It would have made sense when the crafting stations were used to remove mods, but if you can do it anywhere it makes NO sense.

Credit sink I suppose, of course people who have the credits are probably the only ones whom agree with it.

I know, I know "credits are easy to get" That's really no excuse to be honest. For some people money is easy to get, doesn't mean BioWare should charge $200/month for this game.

I'm pretty sure you would not be happy if the mods would be destroyed in the attempt to take them out. And this is what you pay for. To assure the the mod will be 100% okay ^^

The thing is, You used to have to use a modification station to move mods around, this has been removed out of convenience reasons. This is where your money goes to!
