Hood Down Jedi Armors!

Recommended Posts

6 months for something which should have been a launch feature. I have no idea why alternate armor models can't be dropped through UT schems.

No real dev response to this and why it's takes so long.

Every promo video, image, screenshot clearly shows hood down Jedi armor models and still half a year later it's not even in game.

Even the video in my sig is down.

That's the Battlelord set right?

Hmm, if you wore the Battlelord headgear, wouldn't the hood disappear? It definitely would in the cinematics (and promos) anyway :)

It would disappear, but not go down, and it would cover the eyes. There still is no way to look the way they show you Jedi looking, with their hood down.

I just took these from the live server.

The feature is in the game, it just seems to only work when I wear this head piece.

That doesn't acutally work properly as completely removed hood makin it look like a jacket.

It's make hooded tops look worse as the hood dissapeared :o

Hey look at the bright side - when it comes to headgear I'd take a hood any day over the crazy psych patient designs they come up with for the Sith Inquisitor.

I think I busted up the first time I saw one of the many helmets that look like you got really confused and started putting random utensils in your hair:

Should really just have been

/hoodup

/hooddown

or under the hide head slot option

This reminds me of how BioWare's original plan was not to include the hide head slot option at all.

I also noticed in the 1.3 patch notes they're making even more head slot items invisible because of "clipping issues"...same reason they messed with the way the hoods look on caped JK armors.

I don't know what's so controversial about the idea that more options =better. Let us unify the chest piece on companions, let us hide companion head slots, let us hide hoods on all armors, why is this all such a big deal and why does it take months, and months, and months to implement? I have seen a lot of people ask for all these things, way more than have ever asked to augment social gear.

Think about that one for a minute. Why is it, do you think, that cosmetic and low priority changes take a long time and were not in the game at launch, as some are demanding?

Who cares about launch? It's been 7 months since launch. Hiding head slot on companions would have pleased far more people than Legacy ever will.

I agree that it's a bit perplexing, the whole matter.

I mean I'd understand it taking ages if they had to remodel armors etc. etc. but we see from promo stuff they've had the abillity to drop hoods for aaaaaaaages. Prelaunch trailers feature that hoodles jedi battlelord set for crying out loud.

Yet for some reason it was too hard to code in a hood up/down button next to the hide head slot. Baffling.

BW keeps missing the mark on what players actually want out of customization. We want control of how we look. These are our characters. I want to wear my hood some times and some times not. I want to dye my armor all sorts of colors. Go play the Guild Wars 2 beta this weekend and check out their dye system. Each piece of armor has 3-4 dye channels that you can change the color and texture of each piece of armor independently. If I want my armor to look sueded, I can. If I want my plate mail to look matted, or pearlescent, I can. and then each piece has 3-4 different channels that dye it more than one color and i can pick those independently on each piece.

True, but you can hide a dumb hat. Nothing you can do about the Hood That Resists Even the Force.

There is one robe I have encountered where the hood is down by default and it is a pretty awesome looking robe too.

Prototype Baktoid Trellised Jacket

Headgear does not affect the hood. The hood is down by default. The hood is actually there and down, it isnt clipped away like other robes + headgear.

Screenies.

I know! It is really disheartening that I can only enjoy this robe for a few more levels. That's why I am just kind of getting my crew skills up right now, I want to use it as long as I can :/.

In the Feb 17th Q&A, BW said they are working on the hood up/hood down feature. And that it wouldnt be in 1.2 but should be in the major update after. :/ sadly I dont think it made it to 1.3 haha

I have a chest piece/robe that I got from the BT flashpoint that has the hood down. Typical that the Sith get the cool looking stuff. While Jedi's are left looking like prom rejects, unless you're lucky enough to find a complete set of battleborn armour or have enough money/legacy level to get the Guardian legacy armour.

that is nice but ive seen a lot of medium armor robes that have the hoods down but not one heavy armor variant that has, seem guaridans are forever destinaned to have hoods up.

When you play any video game, mmo, whatever all you are doing is looking at your character most of the time. So at least to me, it is very important to enjoy what my character looks like. I could of sworn I recall them saying hoodup/down was going to be in sometimes after 1.2 and before 1.3 but we have heard nothing about it. We also don't have masks under hoods except of course Sith Warriors and Operative have a couple...

Then you still have the stupid looking butts on body type 2 medium and heavy armor robes, and the absolute worst looking hoods of all time on Jedi Knight capes. The lvl 40 Jedi Guardain PVP armor use to look really cool until they changed the hood. Then when they changed the hoods, all the Sith Inq ones had awful clipping issues with their head. The only hoods that looked better changed were Jedi Consular hooods...we still don't have masks so there was no reason they should have thoughg "hmm lets make some hoods look awful and have really bad clipping isues for no reason"

I agree, I think that this feature is really important...

Not just because you look at your character all the time, but since there are extensive RPG features in the game, you (iI hope) get to want your character 'just so'.

Let's hope that that this is a 1.4 feature - we're on the right track with all armour being able to be augmented. Let's hope that the next step is no more crazy looking new armour and that the current models have a hood-up/hood down re-make.
