Basically my thoughts are the sycophants are some combination of weak people, fanbois, and people that don't actually have to pay for the game with their own money.

2007 called and pointed out it's now 2014 and a much more competitive environment with totally different tech.

Well, in the future, games like this will be "one server" (cluster) and we won't have nonsense like this. This obviously won't be the game to braze any new technologies at all ever into the MMO space, but it's not so crazy to expect that your character should be able to play 24/7 without regard to specific "servers."

Some people would just like to kiss-butt by saying the devs obviously know what they're doing. It doesn't even matter when you have unscheduled downtime for twice as long as scheduled downtime, or patches so bad you could read the "Fall of the Roman Empire" while you wait for a 25 MB download to install. They're totally convinced the dev team is solid.

You'll note the 4 hours of unscheduled downtime for West Coast servers, hopefully, and consider that in your future decisions on downtime. Frankly, between the hour+ Reorganizing data patch and multiple unscheduled patches I won't re-sub without some compensation. This is a bit much as far as downtime even for an MMO.

30 minute downtime turns to 4 hours so easily.

I really don't usually complain, but in the past week or so my sub time has been wasted with an hour and a half of a minor patch "Reorganizing Data", scheduled maintenance, a couple of unscheduled maintenance times, and an hour on the phone with Eastern Europe to clear up a double charge. I don't see why the West Coast is being singled out like this - you'd think it'd be the same code. And if it's a hardware issue, that should be entirely on you.

It won't happen, but I'm similarly extremely annoyed. I've had horrible timing trying to play around the patch, and the scheduled and unscheduled downtime.

I don't know. As long as we have the sort of interfaces we use now (as opposed to say kinetic movement interfaces), I'm not a fan of MMOs with dumbed-down rotations.

The Agent storyline is impossible to beat.

That's why I despise playing Republic. The "Light" side choices on the Republic are too often good... at the expense of being short-sighted and naive. The real-world is harsh and sometimes tough choices have to be made for the greater good, and the Republic Light side choices rarely respect that. The Empire choices are easier - Dark almost always being really selfish and bad and Light being realistically balanced without the naivete of the Republic Light side choices.

True, but objectively SWTOR customer service is pretty horrible. My last billing issue with them involved an hour-long conversation with idiots from somewhere in Eastern Europe(?) and even after getting a manager on the phone and fixing the problem they lied about sending me an email to confirm they'd fixed their charges. They fired all the good customer service (and dev) people right before F2P happened - who knows what they have working now.

My conspiracy theory is they're trying to fix a small glitch without a great deal of success.

Realistically not all that many elite soldiers would be total fatties? I think Bioware is already bending the curve by allowing "big-boned" males. If anything, Bioware does a better job than almost any other game in the genre at allowing for that kind of body type.

Hardly anyone can compete with Blizzard customer service or quality, least of all EA.
