Black lightsabers?

Normal lightsabers with a black core don't exist outside of SWTOR and awful mods for Dark Forces/Jedi Knight/KOTOR, though there's a weird one-off saber that isn't really like other lightsabers from the Clone Wars show: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darksaber_%28lightsaber%29

wrong. the force unleashed (canon) has black sabers. and the way it works doesn't matter, the force works in mysterious ways :p

Even that saber was meant to be a Vibrosword, but they changed their minds last minute and made it into some abominable black energy blade because it's more cool for the kids.

Well, that one's a bit more ambiguous due to the distinction between story and gameplay elements (the former are canon while the latter are not). While the existence of the darksaber lends some credence to the black crystal from TFU also existing canonically rather than just being an "easter egg" of sorts, there's never been any real clarification* on that. The same ambiguity currently applies to the black-cored crystals in this game.

* Specifically, if a black crystal were to be used by an NPC, be received through a story event rather than an optional unlock, or appear in a non-game work of some kind, then it could safely be considered canon.

Do these exist anywhere out of this game, in EU? I mean, are they canon, or canon now because of game? Also, how can they be made black? :wea_03:

Thanks.

gl himself made the darksaber. can't get more canon then that.

as for "how they can be made black", gl said they can, so they can.

i personally love em, and hope they plan on putting one in without the color surrounding them.

Oh right, I forgot about the TFU games. But the last/one of the hardest to get saber customization options (there is only one grade of black saber too) is about as relevant as saying Darth Sion's double fights the Emperor thousands of years after his death because you can get the little DLC and fight Palpatine as him.

Black lightsabers are ugly and do not exist since black light (or energy) does not exist since black is nothing but the absence of light. The black lightsabers in the game are just yet another example of how dumb the people at BW are. Double-coloured lightsabers might have looked cool; purple and orange, red and white etc. But no, BW had to go with a combination that is ugly and - even within the rules of the universe - physically impossible. Kudos! Edited by Andge

I think black lightsabers would be awesome. Black is an absence of light, but also the combination of all colors. While white is the opposite.

IMO if you call a pure black saber ugly then say a purp/orange would look cool then idk what to tell ya.

Err... when dealing with light, white is the "combination" of the entire color spectrum.

Black is only that when dealing with subtractive color, which is only really relevant to paints, dyes and ink. Not light sources.
