Juggernaut in PVP....?

Recommended Posts

So I take my Juggy into PVP for the first time this weekend....It was horendous..I love Tanking in PVE, but (like other games too) A Tank in PVP was not alot of fun....SO I am just asking other juggs out there, any thoughts? Like I assume Respeccing out of the tank Line...Switch up armor attachments? Strategies( like guarding hot spots or just go out and DPS? Basically just looking for ideas..I know I'll figure it out, but I dont want to gimp my team while I "figure" it out :)

Never rolled a melee based character in SWTOR (nor plan to do so).

But I could notice while PvP'ing is that the secret to PvP as a melee is to dance and jump like a silly weasel around your target.

This is true...jumping around increases your chance to look foolish and to confuse (works for me)

Well if you have no pvp gear (assuming lvl 50), then pvp will suck until you get some. Resilience (or lack thereof) will just keep you getting destroyed... tank or not.

For Huttball, you make a great carrier, esp if you have a healer. Grab the ball and jump away. Knockback people who annoy you, and plow on through. If you don't have the ball, AOE taunt every cooldown while you guard the carrier (or healer).. it reduces opponents output by 30% unless they attack you.

For the other maps... guard someone, AOE taunt, annoy the crap out their healers.

I always /laugh at the Shadows/Assassins that think they have to dance and run circles around you. They remind me of the Tasmanian Devil, little tornadoes with glow sticks.

They are promptly stunned, then set on fire.

They have to in order to use their main dmg ability (deception/infiltration spec'd ones at least) - their backstab.

Actually tanking in pvp is alot like PvE you protect your healers/ball carriers or whoever you want to guard....taunt alot it actually does something in this game. I am a tank and it is my job to protect my healer and attack there healer since I have alot of disrupts.

First this get all the recruit gear if you can afford it..It will help a ton. If you mostly did pve then you should have enought to get decked out in it.

Second Know your roll. You won't do heavy amounts of damage but at the end of the game you should have a ton of protection points if you don't you aren't doing your job.

I have found myself getting all vindicator gear and doing a hydrid. I am able to protect still and do decent damage. I was in all defensive gear and full Immortal. I will admit I was hard as hell to kill but couldn't really kill anyone either 1v1. But once I went vindicator with a hydrid I am a bit more squishy but hit like a truck and still have all my defensice cd's.

I think Juggs are the god's of PvP but I think I am just biased.

There are facing requirements on many melee moves. Dancing around like a lunatic adds a bunch of mitigation to melee attacks that aren't aimed properly.

0) Bind all useable pvp skills; bind your speeder; bind your medpacks; bind your stims; bind the hball; bind use p-jug... bind not now mom Im busy; bind your mouse; basically bind everything.

1) BUY A FULL SET OF RECRUIT GEAR; NO ARGUMENT; GO DO IT.

2) Get out of defence spec; Focus or Vigilance pick it... learn it... live it.

(There are murmurs of Defence spec being usuable, far more info/help on the other two specs atm)

3) Watch your healers as a priority.

4) Throw taunts around

5) Stay with the current DPS focus target

6) Learn to anticipate the flow of the WZ.

7) No your Rakata/Columni/Champion/FloRiderPveSpecial gear is not better than the recruit gear.

Juggs do amazing in WZ, they just dont kill people. Don't expect to kill people, consider what your effect is in the WZ and then you will realise how the end game result is widely due to what you did and would have been otherwise if not for you being there.

Wha.... Jugs kill people... lots of people... scary people, like Sentinals/Mara's, Tanksins, healers... other tanks...

just not those BH's with the crazy shield... no one kills them. Please god tell me that Pyro's don't get that crazy shield thing...

I dont play a Jug I play a ShieldTech and I love it. I gaurd a door, node or clog the center in HuTTbAll. I always end up with 10 plus medals, win or lose. Gaurd and taunt rinse repeat.

The down side is all the damn stuns ( this is over the top) but all classes ***** about this.

this ^

only the jugs name for the tree to spec into in vengence.

rage is fun too, but vengence is better for new pvpers.

and, just to emphasise an above point....

BUY A FULL SET OF RECRUIT GEAR. your pve gear, no matter the stats differences is NOT better for PVP.

You are mistaken sir.... I kill indiscriminately in pvp. Even your beloved Vangaurds with the "crazy shield". They all turn to pulp with 4 stacks of Shockwave, Dominate, and a well placed smash.... Add a trinket and an adrenal and say goodnight. Period. Rage is your friend. Learn it. Love it. Never look back.....

Juggs / guardians are amazing. Not sure if these kids are playing the class right.

You can either chose to have complete control of the fight with this spec (ONLY RECOMMEND W/ TEAMMATES THAT FILL DPS ROLES / A HEALER):

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#500RrGbuzrdbZfMr0M.1 = full time soresu, guarding the healer and CCing / peeling anything on him. Also great for lone defending a node long enough for help to arrive

Pure DPS and amazing utility:

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#500MMZfMrRMhddGRZMM.1

On the first and second build use endurance stim. I have full vindicator wh / bm gear. I can take out full bm geared players in 6 to 8 seconds depending on their heals with the 2nd spec.

Unremitting will make you an issue in every warzone and make you dominate huttball.

Do yourself a favor and get the vindicator gear. Defense/shield/absorb are garbage for pvp. Even if you want to spec immortal, which I don't suggest, still go with the Dps gear over the War Leader. The only thing war leader gear is good for is higher endurance. I have both BM sets. Vindicator makes a huge difference. A couple of folks here mentioned that Rage is your friend and to learn it and live it. Amen to that. Rage absolutely shreds most classes 1v1 and when you have 4 stacks of shockwave, jump into a group of 4-5 players and smash them all for 4-5k, it makes healing a pain for the other side. Plus you can still guard your heals and taunt your little heart out :)

My Jugg is full BM (Vindicator set) but Vengeance spec'd. I went Rage spec pre 1.2 and loved the burst but after 1.2 that changed for me. The increased time added to the smash cd sucked and killed the tree in my opinion.
