Hutt Ball Issue in 1.2

Ok, this has gotten silly. I've had 3 Hutt Ball matches where we get perfect team vs weak teams, and we literally have 4 min wins. The problem is, I'm not a great ball carrier. But I excel at locking out other classes and giving our ball carriers the best chance to score. Here's the problem, I usually don't track my medals when we're rolling, and ended a few matches 6 to 0 with 1 medal and get 0 commendation for the win. Worse is when I know I was productive in the match. Last night I ended with 70k healing, some minor damage I'll admit (but on fast games you really don't do that much damage as a healer), and yet still only one medal for a 2.5k heal. But at the end I got 4 MVP votes.

I know it's a QQ post. I just don't fully understand the system. I thought fast wins were a number of medals on their own? Do you not get credit for that if you didn't meet the 3 medals minimum requirement? It just seems silly to force us away from playing the game intelligently so that we can farm our minimum 3 medals.

I agree that they should reward objective-based game play more than raw damage, etc. It's probably just difficult for them to set up a system to detect good objective play.

My solution is to use all the folks who are supposedly doing "Customer Service" and put one in each huttball match to officiate and observe, then they could bump up folks who are actively helping their team. Conversely they could kick the guy who's been afk running in the corner for 3 minutes. God what a pipe dream this is...lol.

I'm not sure if it's a bug or what, but last huttball half my team got 6 medals for a fast win, and half didn't. I personally didn't. I racked up 6 medals in those 4 or 5 minutes, so it's not that I didn't have enough medals to get them or anything, and it was pretty annoying to see people who did far less in the match get more medals than me. So who knows, maybe it's just a bug.

Lol, our subs would go up to $150.00 per month for all the refs.

Minimum medal required is 1 now. But the rewards is based on team effort. Most likely, based on the amount of medals all of your team mates plus yours combined.

I saw a lot of other ppl with 10+ medals. The rest of my premade got medals at the end for the fast win, but I didn't.

Edit: Xxxdragonragexx I finally get your comment after reading today's patch notes. It's a good change, but I'm wondering if the fast win credit will be applied to you then and give you your additional medals. Or if there are other requirements for obtaining credit for a fast win I'm not aware of.

  • 2 weeks later...

I myself play NOTHING but pvp. Since in SWTOR pvp exists mainly in WZ, that is pretty much all I do. I like to consider myself a way above average SWTOR player when it comes to PVP and playing other people in general. Try me I'm on Infinte Empire (repub) side, I will destroy you. (say it to everyone few match up to my awareness of the game)

The OP is not a noob when it comes to PVP I can tell by how he talks. He was embarrassed about his 70k in Huttball, however I would argue LESS is BETTER in most cases. Now I have a Guardian level 50 that I play regularly and when it comes to huttball. On the games we win 6-0, I was proud of myself when I was under 10k damage done. That only happened a couple of times, but that is when I had more than two people who actually understood the game.

My damage solely goes to the opposing team that has the flag(85% of the time due to sunder) sometimes I will CC and mess with the healers ETC. I RARELY on winning games get over 30k damage.(If you have more you are simply not playing the objectives, or you really care about your DPS way too much..

I am lucky now, being a guardian and with common sense. I am DEADLY in Huttball, however the medals have turned to my favor ( a big step up from last patch) However. The true MVPS and best players do what the OP suggests. You CC and do what you can to get as many players as you can off of the opposing team. I use that particular strat constantly. If one person attacks me and tries to stop me, I ignore and get to the objective.. However if I get caught up with 2+ guys, me by myself taking these people out of the game gives me team an advantage. As a guardian I can take anywhere from 2-8 guys have them follow me to the other side of the map (literally dispelling seconds off their objective) an stay alive for upwards of 30+ secs. Which really adds up with the more people who follow. How does using AWE get me MVP--(renders all targets in range USELESS until touched for 6-9 secs(off hand can't remember). However ME doing damage at that point would be stupid, especially since it would knock them from their stun. At that point most will follow me wherever I go.. if I were to stand there it would be even dumber, not only would I get wailed on way harder, I'd have to blow all my sheilds eariler(once again no damage involved). So as I run and several guys chase me(giving my team the advantage) I go back there and make a big difference, but get penalized since I wasn't doing what it took to get them medals required aka damage, healing or defending. I exploited the other team's noobness and got my team points, and technically was the unsung hero, but what do I get-- 0 commendations and people calling me a noob who had 400k damage, but did not play the objective one time..

I like the medals, but I also think they are a big problem(for the above reasons) and now more noticeably the CIVIL WAR.

This is causing HUGE problems. I am a GOGOGO type of person, if we can 3cap, I want it. I don't want both teams sitting at their base farming medals(aka getting defense medals for standing still AFK). There is no question this is the particular game that has been ruined with the patch. If your team is down, FUDGE IT, if we let the other team win and farm our medals(AKA sit at the one base we own), we'll get 100 commendations!!(instead of the 120...

So my last couple posts were me SITTING in CIVIL WAR pissed as F@!#! because I was the only one assaulting bases.. Everyone else wanted to farm their defense medals...

I can go on forever baby. If EA wants to turn their stock around (from their worst since 1998). Hire me, because right now you guys are clueless. I can teach you guys about a million things..

The Dauntless Medals in Huttball are definitely bugged. Twice now my team has won inside 5 minutes and while everyone else has got Dauntless medals I haven't - leaving me 5-7.
