:) tried of waiting ...even if my install was complete the servers/realms are down. i cant imagine the time and complexity that is put in to a game like this.

so as much as i would like to see the launcher disappear or wish i had a T-connection speed ...

and to be offered extra game time or have it mentioned by a gold is unbelievably cool

now only if i had a life :D

Having once been in a career where things constantly went wrong, I can see this was a very bad week for BW and feel your pain. BUT, very classy to compensate for the downtime. :)

It does seem though that BW needs to look at more than their tech and software issues and start to find where the human errors are coming from.

You know what, we didn't get to play for a few hours...get over it...Yes I was one of those people that happened to try and log on during the 15 min window yea I wanted to try and do one last thing in patch 1.1 and guess what it dose not matter, its a game stop crying about a few hours you did not get to play a game they are giving you 3 days your moms and dads don't have to pay for it, so do the responsible thing and get out of their basements and go tell them when the sub is being done now stop crying and get out and do something

Lol, well thats nice. So i get a free day from maintence, free month for having an active account w/a 50 and now 3 days from getting nailed by the pre-mature launch of 1.2 causing a complete download (11gig) and a lost day of play... Could be worse. Thx Bioware!

I was affected by this, but to a slightly lesser degree. It caused me to have to repair a lot of files after wasting all that time downloading the patch, but not 37 files, and as a result completely destroyed my time to play during the morning. I had to leave my computer on all day just to run the darn repair.

I only downloaded the patch this morning (7:00AM April 14 AEST).

I thought the faulty patch was issued some days ago.

I am still having to download the entire game again.

Is there a way to avoid this?

Can I expect any further problems?

Making me trawl through your forums is not an ideal way to inform me of your problems... why not an announcement or a link in 'Latest News' in the launcher?

So americans get inconvenienced on one patch and get compensation for it.

Don't misunderstand, I'm not saying that compensation for this messed up patch shouldn't happen. But really?

Any update on oceanic accounts and all the primetime downtime then?

The patch for 1.2 was fine for me, I was playing on my game on my computer yesterday night just fine. However, this afternoon, after the last maintenance ended, I turn on swtor and it does a patch, then another patch, then yet another patch and yet another patch.

Now it says the patch is 11gigs... am I to assume it's the issue that people were having from april 11? So this issue was not fixed?

I want to know if I should be deleted swtor and re-installing from DVDs... Please respond.

Thanks.

3 days......sorry if i don't sound excited. almost 3 hours on the phone with technical support that has absolutley no grasp of the english language much less a knowledge of the mechanics of how all this works. finally a guildie found this thread and i am downloading the entire game again since one of biowares highly intellectual non english speaking morons had me to uninstall the game. then had a problem with the donload failing. so if this download does not work i will not re-sub my account.

BRING BACK GALAXIES PLEASE

I was playing fine today, but when guildies were complaining about patch time, I realized I hadn't completely logged out last night, and should patch. When installing the patch of yesterday's patch, it kept giving me an error that I wasn't connected to the internet (interestingly all other internet programs worked). I restarted the computer, tried to patch again, but hit a point where it said the patch server was down. Tried later, and got a message that it was unable to retrieve the patch data. I tried to use the launch fixer, and got a semi-permanent red warning that said "updating launcher" and never did anything. I eventually uninstalled the game, sat for hours waiting through the reinstall, and got to a window "unable to retrieve patch data. Please check network connection" again. What is my next step? I am frustrated.

In addition, we have now identified all players who were affected by this error, and as compensation an extra three days of game time will be added to their current subscriptions. These three days will be credited to affected accounts by Tuesday, April 17th.

Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you for playing Star Wars: The Old Republic.

I'm hoping you have my account in that group, as I've been trying to patch this game on and off since mid day, but apparently am still 'repairing' files.

I played just fine until this evening. When I tried to log in, it says error. Then when I click to repair files, it said I have 32 files to repair. That bar is moving sooooooo slow. Hopefully this works, because it is going to suck if I wait all this time and end up uninstalling and reinstalling everything again anyways.

I am still affected by the problem.. I have reinstalled the game

I have tried patching from the desktop

I have renamed the launcher and used fixlauncher

I have deleted main assets

I have reinstalled the game

Still stuck at the same place.. repairing 37 files...

no matter what it always comes back to this and then the repair fails

I've been off the game for three days now and I still can't get the patch process to work.

I uninstalled/reinstalled the game from the retail DVDs, Assets 51 downloaded then installed then the 12GB download stopped after only 2GB. Tried again and it started downloading Assets 51 again then failed.

I'm getting really frustrated with this flakey patch process.

Greetings everyone!

We are very sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with patching Game Update 1.2. In order to assist you further, we are going to close this thread and ask that you please post in the following thread located in our Customer Service Forums:

1.2 Patching Issues

Our friendly Customer Service Team has posted the following request for information to better assist you with your individual matter on why patching may not be working for you:

Greetings All,

We are aware that a number of users are experiencing issues patching the client.

If you downloaded part of the patch yesterday(11/4/2012)then it may be necessary for you to fully uninstall and then reinstall the game. Please see Stephen Reid's post regarding problems with yesterday’s early patch deployment and the circumstances in which a full reinstall of the game will unfortunately be necessary:

http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=400099

If the above situation does not affect you, please complete the troubleshooting steps outlined in our Launcher Troubleshooting Guide and should the issue persist post your Launcher log here and we will try to provide further troubleshooting steps:

Please post the Log within code tags or spoiler tags

You can find your launcher logs at one of these default locations:

- For 32 bit Operating Systems - C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\logs

or

- For 64 bit Operating Systems - C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars - The Old Republic\logs

Launcher logs look like this: “launcher_112610.txt”

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

*** Update April 13th ***

For those affected by the premature patching on April 11th, please also note the following update by Stephen Reid.

*** Update April 14th ***

We are currently investigating this issue, and will continue to do so, but we wanted to give you an update of what we have discovered so far. In all the cases we have investigated so far, this error has been a result of faulty hardware, usually hard drives and RAM. For players encountering this issue, we would like to ask you to do the following:

  1. Run chkdsk

For Windows 7/Vista: Right click on the drive you want to check (in Windows Explorer) and select Properties. Now click on the "Tools" tab and press "Check now..." at the top under 'Error-checking'

For Windows XP, at the command prompt type “chkdsk” and then press enter.

Please perform this on all hard drives.

  2. Run memtest86+ (http://www.memtest.org)

Please run the memtest at least 6 times.

If you tried the above suggestions and do not find any errors, please update this thread and we will investigate your case further. If you do run into errors, we recommend contacting your manufacturer for further assistance.

In the meantime, we will carry on our investigations, and will continue to update you with our findings.

Please note that while we can recommend using memtest86+ to try and help diagnose these issues, unfortunately we cannot offer support in the use of this program.

***************Windows XP users******************

If you are experiencing the looping issue with assets when you attempt to download the latest patch, and have Windows XP as your operating system.

Can you please ensure that you have the following Microsoft Update installed.

Please report back to this thread if this has helped with your issue.

We will provide additional updates to players very soon.

Hello everyone,

If you have followed all of the steps outlined in this post and are still experiencing difficulties, then please email support@swtor.com with a DXDiag report as well as your most recent Launcher Logs. Please also be sure to include a description of the issue, and you can also include a link to this thread. Finally, do outline the steps you have taken so far in an effort to resolve this matter.

Additionally to this, if you are able to, I would recommend that you contact Customer Service, specifically one of our specialist members of Technical Support, by telephone. Information on how to do this can be found in the spoiler below:

If possible I would recommend contacting them by phone on one of the following toll-free* numbers:

  • USA: 1-855-GO-SWTOR (1-855-467-9867)
  • UK, Germany, France: 00800 0246 9273 (008000 BIOWARE)
  • Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore: +800 0246 9273 (+8000 BIOWARE)

For calls originating from countries not listed above, please call the following number: +442035642555**

Please ensure that you inform them of all the troubleshooting steps that you have attempted, prior to calling I would advise creating a ticket via email with your dxdiag report attached.

* Please note: Calls made from landlines are toll-free, while those made from mobile devices may be subject to charges from your provider.

** Please replace the ‘+’ at the beginning of the number with the international call prefix for your country (for example, the prefix for European Union countries is ‘00’, so the number to call would be 0044 2035642555). If you are unsure of the international call prefix for the country you are calling from, we recommend contacting your telecommunications service provider. Please note that you may be charged by your provider for making an international phone call, and charges may be based on the country from which you place the call.

Thank you once again for your continued patience and understanding.

Again we are very sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties and we do hope that it is resolved quickly for you. We strongly encourage you to please post the information requested in the above thread.

Thank you for your patience!
