Bioware Armor Art

Absolutely perfect...I cant agree more...the armour from beginning to end got flashier and more gaudy...I dont play WoW and dont care too but I believe they specifically went with a fantasy look to appeal to WoW players. The problem here is most of us want to get away from the high fantasy elf look. Bioware beware, your player base is starting to get annoyed with the obvious attempt to copy WoW in silly ways.

I absolutely HATE the hats for Consulars. You know which ones. the flat tops that slope down on the front... Gah! disgusting. (hide helm). There is another helm for Consulars that looks like you are wearing a bra on your head. Like, what the hell man?!

I'd really like to see a set for SIs that is just a plain black robe. You know, like the black robes you could loot occasionally from darksiders in KOTOR.

I'm not a fan of Columi or Rakata gear for my Sorc. And the PvP stuff just looks weird.

I came here from the sentinel advanced class forum since the person who started this thread was linking it. And I have to say...WOW , I'm amazed with the designs proposed. If only the devs could take a look at it and actually understand that most of their player base is NOT 12 years old anymore and is looking for something simplier and elegant...

Honestly, I would like to see a simple well designed cloak over robe. It seems that the armor, which is fine in many aspects does not fit the time frame.

300 years before SWTOR:

In KOTOR 2 seen here:

During SWTOR:

and 3k years after SWTOR:

I know there has to be some form of design advancement, but there are tons of alternatives. something like this

http://thecoolship.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/250px-Jedi_Revan.jpg

I am not saying there shouldn't be jedi/sith all armored up, but I would like to see some good looking robes under cloaks as well. The one issue I have with the current cloak system is that the devs designed the cloaks to be worn under the belt.

like this:

http://www.polishtheconsole.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/swtor.jpg

when in fact they should look like this:

http://www.themogblog.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/swtor.jpg

I understand from a design point of view the animations for a free flowing cloak is harder than to just have the cloak tighten around the waist with a belt, but come on, this is Bioware and LA.... I am more than positive they have the resources to implement something along these lines.

But after playing the game, it seems a majority of the PVP gear and high level gear is based off of some crazy fantasy game like WoW. the Huge shoulder pads, buffed fore arm armor ect ect seems out of place. Jedi and Sith are known for being simple, I think over loading the classes with overwhelming armor is taking away from the 30 or so years of what the movies and the EU has established as a look for jedi/sith.

Where does one get those armors and what are they called? I've spent a ton of time trying to get the Jedi Battlelord's armor, but this stuff is WAY cooler lookin. And it's not green! :D

i think there should ne a final test the devs were forvced to take for each done armour design.

They have to copy 1 Avatar wearing that auit into a Star Wars Movie Scene... if it fits in, the armour is ok.. If it sticks out, they delete it.

Can Sith Warriors get in on this conversation as well? How did Vader's life support apparatus get retconned into some kind of Sith uniform? Juggernauts don't need moddable gear; with the exception of the PVP set and the Hammer Station drops, every outfit is a recolored Vader costume.

And Bounty Hunters. Look at the variety of looks the bounty hunters were sporting in The Empire Strikes Back. They looked like a motley bunch from all walks of life. They looked exotic. The Imperial officers sneered because they were rabble without a uniform. Now go window shopping for heavy armor with Aim on the GTN: page after page after page of recolored Boba Fett costumes.

The star Wars franchise provides such a broad variety of fantastic costumes. An MMO with crafting is such a fantastic opportunity to use that and build upon it, to add to the franchise. Wouldn't it be a shame to see that opportunity go to waste?

Only suggestion I have is for them to fully separate character costumes and outfits from stats. Or at least partially so. Earn armor enhancement items though operations, flashpoints or PvP, but have a separate menu for character appearance.

Perhaps separate the costumes available by level or legacy levels. The higher the level the cooler options to choose from become unlocked. That way the player can make a character they love to play, and still advance and have incentive to advance - without looking like a nerfherder or Burning Crusade clown for half the character's life.

The current model (much like the talent system) is vintage World of Warcraft as it was 4 years ago. I don't think it would be that difficult for them to separate costumes from stats in a big 1.2 style patch or expansion.

The current system just has to go. Tier costumes are embarrassing.

Probably one of the most popular outfits at a convention or how most people view a Jedi.

Pretty much any of the pencil drawings on this page I would like to wear on the specific class they represent.

This isn't 100% but the overall concept is what I think is good.. Its not outlandish or gaudy..

I don't want to look like something that came from a Ron Popeil commercial.

The armors just don't look star wars at all. Its starting to look like any other fantasy RPG and its stupid.

Luckily there are a FEW of the old orange sets that look cool* and I'm glad I've stocked them so I can have an acceptable look in 1.2

I really don't understand why they have made so many sets that looks WAY to flashy when they had the perfect ideas in the cinematics. Oh well...

Edit: Reading through more posts in this thread it seems like a general consensus that people like the more subtle outfits over the circus clown looks, am I right?

I would agree with that statement. I'm a star wars enthusiast to the point that i've seen all of the movies and read some of the books.. But beyond that not really..

I want to be a Jedi, a healer.. and what they propose isn't anything like what I would support. It is just plain nasty.

This:

Light, Medium and Heavy rating variants. NO visible armor plating, save for the wristbands. Just the garments. :)

Also, something like Luke Skywalker's outfit in Return of the Jedi for Jedi Knights. The one he was wearing when he infiltrated Jabba's palace.

I'd pick any of the links here over what we paid people to design for us. Pretty pathetic. Nice links all. I love the standard brown and tan robes. 1.2 is going to suck. I hope I can remove the mods and throw it in the gear that is pleasing to the eye.
