  1. I usually enjoy PvP but arenas get me bored pretty quickly because of this one thing: you usually end up wondering why you're fighting these other people whose names appear in red. Burning people down just for the sake of it can be fun but that's not what I'll be doing for a long time. In fact, during the last few months that I played GW, the only PvP I still played at that time was Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood. To be honest, I would have think that they'd incoporate it to the game as soon as it launches. RvR is the only real feature that I totally miss in this game which after all is...Star WARS The Old Republic. There have already been a number of threads about this and people seem to be bringing the idea over and over for a reason. Let's hope for the best.
  2. This surely has already been posted and although the colors seem to be more approriated to an assassin, the general outfit might look great on a shadow: Assassin/Shadow
  3. It's already in game, it's called Reinforced Phobium (imperial appearance), it's craftable and it's heavy armor only.
  4. I'm absolutely sold on this one! Thank you so much for sharing.
  5. Playing both assassin and sorcerer, this is my humble opinion: _________________________________________________ Assassin Darkness This spec is pure fun. I know you're not looking for another tank but it makes it really easy to find a group on my server being a tank. You can basically keep the same spec (31/0/10 is mine) for PvP and just run in DPS gear with focus OH and you'll be dealing great damage with huge survivability. Of course, any skilled opponent can negate your basic rotation but that's the case for almost every class. Pros Self heals Additional CC with Spike available out of stealth Amazing survivability Great DPS Cons Devs stated that they're investigating assassins tanks running in DPS gear which might result in a nerf in the future. Deception This one I find it less effective in PvP and...boring. I mean really boring. I used it most of the time in the lvl 10-49 PvP bracket and changed it once I hit 50. Once you've done the usual VS/VS/Shock combo you're left with few defensive CDs to stay alive until you can work that one out again. Considering that your amor is made of paper, you're likely not to be able to do that unless you learn to play really smart and position adequately. This spec gets better when you're with your guildies, in a PUG I'd recommend using Darkness. Pros Can do great damage if your CDs are up and you know how to rotate skills effectively (anyone remotely interested in PvP that sees an assassin going VS/VS knows what's likely to follow...play smart!) Does better in a premade Cons Gets boring really fast Requires to spend time learning when and how to engage into combat...or simply run away (if you like challenging spec however it's still not so bad ) Madness Great spec and fun to play (I know but that's my main concern about a PvP spec. It must be effective AND fun). Madness offers a pefect balance of melee skills, short range skills (10m) and long range skills (30m). Plus, they compelment themselves. This spec also mixes both direct damage and DOTs and offers great mobility and variety in playstyle. You're still squishy but you can spec for your DOTs to heal you as well as Death Field. However, the critical chance factor is important when running this spec so you'll be heavily gear reliant. Pros Fun spec to play with great variety and mobility Good balance between range and melee skills as well as force and melee abilities Self Heals Great CC abilities Cons DOTs can easily be removed and negated Gear reliant spec Less survivability _________________________________________________ Will be doing sorcerer later, I'm taking a class right now and it's getting complicated writting on the forums during a test. EDIT: Sorcerer now. I won't be covering Corruption here since I don't play healer that much, only when needed. Plus, you're looking for DPS specs. _________________________________________________ Sorcerer Lightning To be honest I've been avoiding this spec ever since I first tried it. It has great utility (root on wave, exploding bubble, added damage reduction on shield, greater range...). Really, plenty of good things and strong damage output but you're like a TURRET. You have absolutely NO mobility and the cast times are so long you'll get interrupted 2 out of 3 times if your opponent plays smart. Pros Added CC and damage reduction abilities Good damage output Nice playstyle and visual effects Cons Turret mode -enough said, mobility is key in PvP Long cast times -HUGE drawback, you'll get easily interrupted and really frustrated (same applies to healers sorcerers...) Madness I love that tree. Really it's fun to play and effective. It's different from Madness as an assassin since it is exclusively long range and focuses heavily on force attacks but it offers the same variety in gameplay and the same mobility as it does for an assassin. DOTs remain an important component of this spec and also provide heals. Since Madness is the shared tree, it will mostly be similar between the two ACs. I used to run a hybrid 0/13/28 but I'm considering going full balance which I enjoy as much, after 1.2 and the nerf to Wrath. 3/7/31 would then be my spec. Pros Fun playstyle with great variety and mobility Added CC abilities Self heals Long range attacks (both an advantage and an inconvenient really Cons DOTs can easily be removed and negated Paper armor and less survivability Gear reliant spec (same as Madness assassin although it's better since you actually have talents that help increasing your critical chance) _________________________________________________ Hope that helps.
  6. You got that part completely right. The talent trees seem to slightly favor Juggs, however people mostly complain about the defensive CDs Maras have and that they consider make them better than Juggs. IMHO, they must be forgetting to take into account the extra utility that Juggs have. Although I willingly admit that I absolutely HATE the new Enraged Defense. It's just meh to me.
  7. Almost sounds like this comes directly from Google Translate. Anyway...good job really, I enjoyed watching your video and the fight was really cool!
  8. Just started reading the first part and...couldn't stop from there. That is such a masterpiece! I absolutely love how you grant deepness to your characters and make them stand out on their own. Please keep the good work coming!
  9. Well I'm not saying this shouldn't happen. Alright, I'm gonna go for the long story part. I have both an Assassin and a Juggernaut at the moment that are both tanks with dps gear for PvP and tank gear for PvE. I have never lost aggro to anyone with my Assassin. If you play clever and use your brain to rotate abilities effectively then there's no reason why any DPS should be able to pull aggro from you. Might be a learn to play issue but I find it to be a completely different story with my Juggernaut. I have a feeling that it does miss a lot on threat generation. In a situation when I'm running a flashpoint with two DPS and a healer, I have to be very careful at handling large groups of mobs. This has to do with a poor AoE threat generation that is specific to the Juggernaut/Guardian. In order to tank effectively and keep aggro on multiple targets I have to switch them regularly. On a single target however, there's no problem. Two possible alternatives: 1) The DPS I have played with over the last few months weren't that skilled OR 2) An effective tank should never be loosing aggro to anyone (at least in a single target encounter) EDIT: Indeed but I'm talking generally not considering specific cases.
  10. Female playing exclusively female characters. I find it amazing that girls tend to only roll female characters while guys usually try both.
  11. Playing both tanks and dps roles in this game I'd say it's most likely about the amount of threat generated by the tank that is too low.
  12. I always assumed the locked doors where the ones for kitchen, toilets and other rooms that wouldn't be that much appealing to see.
  13. That does work for the Jedi Knight since two of your companions on board are droids but I am a little curious about Jedi Consular. Do you have any idea? Bcause I had fun reading this.
  14. Maybe that's where the problem is. You do realize that SWTOR USP was to bring story to MMOs? Official website: Maybe you deliberately decided to ignore that so that you could justify that you'd rather have the money spent otherwise but story and thus voice acting were meant to be the major highlight of the game.
  15. Best suggestion ever. Damn, I want it now!
  16. There are indeed a few valid options to match Darth Maul's overall look but the problem is...there really are so little of them. The Supreme Inquisitor set is a random world drop that sells for millions on some servers! I too was expecting something different. Since the community managers stated that they were compiling our thoughts, ideas and needs in order to deliver them to the art department, I hope we'll see some improvements soon.
  17. Totally! More customization options at reach if we could.
  18. Wow, glad Satele got her part in the story. That was fun really!
  19. That's what I was thinking about but the sets that are designed around a chestpiece+ pants combo usually look better than the mix I could come up with. There were some in beta, I'm still confused about the reason why they take them away. Thanks for the tips anyway.
  20. Look, it's that thread again (see my sig, it's like the 10th thread I've seen and supported on the subject)...damn it, I wish Bioware would acknowledge the fact after all. I am getting really bored of the skirts and robes looks on my sorcerer and assassin. This one thing is stopping me from rolling a jedi consular! We only have ONE set of armor designed around pants on the imperial side (Supreme Inquisitor set), which is a rare random world drop. From what I've heard it's not better on the republic side. Why can't we just have armor sets designed around pants? When I took a look at the jedi consular armor progression trailer that's what I saw and I was in consequence expecting it to be fairly common. Before anyone brings it on the table, I'm not a guy who's incomfortable with wearing robes, I'm a girl who's incomfortable with the lack of options we are being offered. Satele Shan is definitely how I always portray shadows in my head and I'd like to be able to rock a similar look. Here is an example: Jedi Shadow Plus the model for this set already exists in game, it's synthweaving and only the colors are different: Ablative lacquerous set From GDC 2011 as well Fingers crossed someone at Bioware will read this thread (but who am I kidding?).
  21. I'm not sure about the hate part but the fact that they've never answered this thread or changed the gear available makes me believe the devs are trying to send us a message that it will stay the way it is because...well, it will stay the way it is.
  22. This was easily one of the best worded request for what we all agree is only a matter of good sense. I appreciate the effort and am surprised this has not been closed already. Maybe they're reading after all. Something I have to react to: I'm a casual gamer (or at least consider myself to be so) and I do enjoy PvP. Because I do not have 6 hours in a row to spend in Warzones hoping for a good match up to pop up so that I can have fun, it's important to me that the classes be the most balanced as they can.
