and I missed this little detail early on when harpooning...

 

harpoon, than hit them with cryo grenade to stick them in the hazard long enough to make it count.

 

or spec into the shield tree and get the 3 second root. And then cryo after to confirm the kill.

Hold the Line is pretty troll in Huttball on the catwalk. You meet a Merc. You know he's gonna knock you back, Hold The Line, *Trollface.jpg*

 

Storm's pretty nice, too, allowing you to counter knockbacks reactively instead of negating them proactively like Hold the Line.

Harpoon's also great for yanking those annoying Sorcs who're spamming lightning on everyone from a high perch down to you so that they can be properly dealt with. They ofton freak out when that happens since they're zapping everyone in safety (they think) and next thing they know they're eyeball to eyeball with a Trooper. :eek:

Ive done it so many times in my matches, Imps run from the center when Im there. A few bouny hunters have tried to do the same. I guess they are pissed I single them out. However, when they yank me in, I just wade through the goo far enough away to yank them in. ~500 a tick isnt going to kill me when I have 22k HP. Edited by finkelmana

Hutt Ball is for glow sticks only but if you find yourself in one and getting waxed on the scoreboard its always nice to make a sacrifice to the great fire god. Key is to take a force running glowstick ball carrier with you.

 

PS- Make sure you give them props before you both die by saying something like OHH so close!!!

Uhhh... What? Hutt Ball is for glow stick only? You have obviously never played with a vanguard who knew what he/she was doing. Vanguards were made for hutball:

 

1.) Putting guard on ball carrier

2.) We are Heavy Armored so we can carry ball without going splat (at least 1-2 extra seconds :))

3.) Taunts to reduce damage to ball carrier + teammates.

4.) Harpoon as the OP mentioned is incredible during a match to both A.) move the ball carrier, B.) move people out of passing circles and C.) just plain killing people in poison.fire pit.

5.) If you SS spec, Storm = win regardless if you get knocked down. Just wait for idiot to glance over ledge and bam, you are scoring.

6.) If you are Tac spec, Hold-The-Line = win if you near end-zone.

 

You sir need to reconsider your statement.

Low on health in the pit, run up to the health power up and some agent its sniping me from the platform. I grab the power up, storm up to the sniper run into the flame just before it starts, and harpoon and stun him there to die a fiery death as I walk away like a boss... He'll think twice about targeting a vanguard again.

Agreed!

 

I always start off putting a healer on guard. Then once someone gets the ball I put them on guard and try and escort them to the goal. Using CG and Harpoon, and every other thing I can to get them clear.

Ill lay money you rarely touch the ball when thier is sith or jedi ball carriers around other than to be a damage sponge and clear a path with harpoon and reduce the damge via taunt and cc. YAY for that kinda fun I can do that in any WZ.

 

You listed hold the line really how many deep spec tactics vanguards you running with? And storm is great but your not going to be running the ball as a shield spec sorry aint happening if thier is a decnt sith or jedi around to carry the ball.

 

Again I think Hutt Ball is ok but i never fool myself into thinking it was anything more than a glow stick made pvp WZ.

Flat out wrong.

 

SSVG is the best ball carrier there is. I score a minimum of 2x per match, and its not uncommon for me to score all 6 points per game. High HP, great damage reduction, reactive shield, reliec shield & defense, and storm. No other ball carrier comes close to a SSVG.

I'm a Vanguard, and disagree 100%.

 

One should be guarding a ball carrier who can /leap or /burst run. My job is to /taunt the ones hitting our dude and/or pulling peeps off the ramps who will be trying to /KB.

 

We can do it fine, but I'd rather score much faster tbh.

Nah. Just guard the healer next to you and taunt those attacking him. All it takes to score is the time to pick up the ball and walk to the goal line.

It's much faster to score for those who can run...or leap...as opposed to walking.

i love to use harpoon to pull ball carriers who are about to score back into the pit. saved so many potential goals that way. pulling into the acid/fire is something i assumed everyone did, saving goals not so much.

 

Another thing is to look for a opposing player on the goal side of the pit waiting to recieve a pass and score. Just yank them down into the pit and you've foiled that plan.
