Hello,

I just wanted to mention that I built a budget gaming computer for someone that is composed of:

Pentium 4 3.4 HT

2GB ddr2 1066

9600gso 768MB

550w powersupply

All in an older Dell platform. lol.

The game loads and runs well at medium settings (no shadows)- I purchased the game and played it a bit to test and it was very playable, never dropping to a stutter/laggy state.

I ordered him a dual core for 16.50 lol. Will be dropping that in soon, but in the meantime, he gets playablity from a very budget system.

That's not "budget" that's "ghetto" lol If that runs this game well, then good for him, he's one of the luckiest players around, as most have higher specs than that and it runs like poodooh for them.

People still use P4's? That still must have cost a hundred or two hundred to put together (unless you rifled through the school's junk hardware bin). In the future, I'd recommend spending $300 on a refurbished Dell with a quad core or something and in the future you can swap out for a better PSU and graphics card. You'll get a better all-around computer and it'll still be super cheap.

I have a hard time believing a single core p4HT can run the game pt any thing close to playable

Building a new computer here is what I have so far:

MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130565

RAM: 8GB

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103849

Power Supply: Currently at 650W but I will upgrade it soon

I'm looking for a great Graphics Card that is from the $100-$230 Price Range that would be compatible with my system and be able to run SWTOR and other games on the highest of settings.

A i3 2130 will out game that CPU for less and draw 65 watts.

Even better $30 more with the 15 buck discount than the one you picked and your set to play with the big boys.

Save the $ to pay for it with this.

Good GPU and with the MB you can add anouther down the road if needed.

This is how it stacks up against the 550ti

http://www.hwcompare.com/9710/geforce-gtx-550-ti-vs-radeon-hd-6870/

With the i3 you can run the stock cooler as per no over clocking, but with either the AMD you picked or the i5 2500k you will need a aftermarket cooler.

This is a good PSU that has the power for you to add anouther card in the future for xfire.

Like the guy above me said, consider getting an i3-21xx instead of that AMD Phenom. Don't be fooled into thinking less cores = less performance, the i3's are WAY faster than Phenoms. They're also less expensive.

Also like the guy above me said (he must be a very intelligent individual), consider going for $30 more and getting an i5. An i5 2500k is super fast at stock speeds, and can be overclocked like a madman, faster than many i7's!

As for the graphics card, I highly reccomend the Radeon HD 6850. For your price range, this card fits right in and has great performance. It is ~$150 and can max this game at 60 fps.

However, if you are willing to wait another 2 weeks, Radeon is releasing its 78xx series of graphics cards on the (14th?). These will be around if not $5-20 more, and will be more powerful than the 68xx line.

Bottum line: If I were you, I would definately 100% go for a dual core i3 wih hyperthreading or a quad core i5, and wait 2 weeks for the Radeon 7850 to come out for $150.

With both Ivy bridge and Kepler gpu's just around the corner, it might be best to wait the couple months if you'd like to get a really good deal. I'm sure sandy bridge is going to be dirt cheap and the gtx6 series looks to be pretty aggressively priced.

I just installed the game and my PC does not run it as well as I had hoped.

Here is what I have:

windows 7 64 bit

AMD-FX 6100 6 core

ATI Radeon HD 7450

10GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM

to a 1080p screen via HDMI

I have not done a FPS check, but I am suspecting that its a graphics card issue.

I dropped all the settings to medium or low, turned off bloom. and it runs much better but does not look as good. Its playable, and I will live with it considering I would need to get a new power supply, as well as the card.

Any suggestions?

Yes, next time make enquieries before puchasing? That GPU is just a rebranded 6450 which isn't aimed at gamers at all and is more designed for home theatre pc's for watching movies etc.

I'd be surprised if you even got 20fps at 1920x1080 resolution with it and should have done some research before you bought the PC.

thanks for the not very constructive suggestion. you are assuming I purchased this computer solely to play this game. I was aware of what the graphics card was, and at this point its what I have. I am simply trying to see if I have any other issues, and maybe pick up a suggestion for a better card.

The fx 6100 really is bad for gaming but i'm here to help first what PSU do you have upgrade might not be needed to get a better GPU check this out.

You will not max this game FPS wise no mater what you buy in all places till they fix it on their end but you should play as good as it will. You should of posted hear with your budget looking for the best bang for the buck, but their nothing wrong with what you have.

If i word things wrong sorry english is my 3rd language.

Just a thought the 7xxx series really does not look that good unless you just look at the memory clock speed. Ivy is suposed to be like 15% better, a i5 2500k will max everything out game wise easy, PCI-E 3.0 nothing uses the full 2.1 yet. And no you will not see dirt cheap.

Ok so I have a possible build together. It is kind of expensive, but I want to know how well it will handle this game at 1920 x 1080. Also, is the US version of ncix.com good? I compared prices and with the free shipping they came out cheaper.

Case: Corsair Carbide 500r White http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=62758&vpn=CC-9011013-WW&manufacture=Corsair&promoid=1009

PSU: Corsair TX750 V2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139021

MOBO: ASRock Extreme4 Gen3 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157265

CPU: Intel i5-2500k http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=57962&vpn=BX80623I52500K&manufacture=Intel&promoid=1009

CPU Heatsink: Cooler Master 212 Plus http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=41337&vpn=RR-B10-212P-G1&manufacture=COOLERMASTER&promoid=1009

Ram: Corsair Vengeance Low Profile White http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233199

GPU: Sapphire 6850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500gb SATA 3 http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=58402&vpn=WD5000AAKX&manufacture=Western%20Digital%20WD

Optical Drive: ASUS 24x SATA DVD Writer http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=49597&vpn=DRW-24B1ST%20Bulk&manufacture=ASUS

Please give any suggestions you could. I don't care how harsh. Should I also wait for Ivy Bridge/7800 Series for better performance? One last thing, how will the motherboard I linked handle overclocking? Thanks for any help!

First thats a good price on that case.

Second looks like a solid system 1 thing i would upgrade to is the GPU for a few more $.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102948

And get this.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007

You can save the $ for them with this PSU it's pleanty for that system.

As far a waiting on the IVY your choice PCIE 2.1 is not being fully used yet so it will be a few years at least before you need 3.0 if ever. They will not start making games that people can not play.( except a poor game engine like this)

The IVY will be pricey for about 15% better performance. The i5 2500k will destroy all games for years to come their really no need to OC it much now unless your one that just needs to say my CPU is OC'ed @ 5.0 GHz.

As far as ncix I never use them so no anwser their.

EDIT i really like 1.5v ram for intel

Can someone tell me a good graphics card that will run this game and is under $100

Depends on your monitor rez such as 900p/1050p/1080p what CPU you have, motherboard, PSU so no unless you can give more input or link the PC you have.

An admin suggested that I post my question here.

"I have recently upgraded my PC over the past few weeks. I've upgraded both my RAM and upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 - 64 bit.

Previously I had 4GB of RAM and my SWTOR launch screen (screen where you enter you password) would appear immediately after confirming the admin access. Now that I've upgraded to 8GB it takes approximately 2:15 seconds for the launch screen to appear.

I first thought it was bad RAM, but I've since switched it out 3 times (using the crucial.com scanner to ensure it's the correct kind), all with the same results. If I remove the RAM it fixes the issues, but I'm hoping there is another option instead."

Not enough info is your new ram reconized in the BIOS, is the timeing right, crucial.com means nothing. Are you mixing your old ram with the new or just have the new installed.

IF I REMOVE THE RAM IT FIXES THE ISSUE this makes me think your using the old ram with the new ram never do that always use only matching ram. Remove your old ram and install the new. Buy matching 8gb of ram.

All of the RAM is recognized

And all 4 sticks of ram show "2048 MB (DDR2 667) SPD: 5-5-5-15"

And yes the new RAM is being mixed with the RAM that originally came with the PC.
