  1. That's not "budget" that's "ghetto" lol If that runs this game well, then good for him, he's one of the luckiest players around, as most have higher specs than that and it runs like poodooh for them.
  2. Okay I've dealt with the fps issues, and upgrades to fix it on my son's machine. I've dealt with the various show stopping bugs to get through all of my main quests. I've PVPed through WZ after WZ, so now what? I'm on Ilum in the PVP zone now and I really feel alone and bored there. Sure I run into an enemy every so often, but there's really not that many people there. Cues for lvl50 PVP can take a while too. Where do I find the lvl50 content outside of Ilum PVP? Is there any? I haven't done much of the Operations or Flashpoints yet, where is a good place to group up to do those even?
  3. SWG for sure. They took chances no one else would, and it was the ultimate sandbox. Once you made it to level 90 you could grind a crafter and take on crafting which was sooooo in-depth that there will never be another crafting profession in a game since that can match it. It was hard, but rewarding. You could be a mayor, you could be a variety of different crafters, you could create your own missions with chronicles, you could farm stuff needed to craft and sell. The economy was amazing. Every item in the game was a 3d object, not just a flat 2d item in your inventory, all of which could be displayed in any number of the houses you could own, or in your ships! Every single item you could put in your inventory! So many little things and it being a sandbox made it a game that could have lasted another 10 years, but this abomination of a game forced SOE to end SWG. As much as people will say otherwise, this game released Dec 21st, with an initial release I believe of Dec 15th. SWG ended Dec 15th. They claimed Lucas Arts didn't wanna renew the license but I believe they made it cost so much on purpose to give SWTOR a fighting chance. IF SWG was still going while SWTOR was I guarantee many would have joined SWTOR and ran right back to SWG. If anything SWTOR would have helped to make SWG a bigger success this late in the game, because population was declining, but IF people were ready to leave this game you know others would be saying "but did you ever play SWG?" and they're go right to it first thing. They gave us new content almost every other month, and the major updates were always MAJOR updates, not just a slew of fixes. Where Bioware went REALLY wrong with this game is that they didn't try to incorporate into this the features that kept players playing an 8 year old Star Wars game. Player housing and player created cities. Space that was a whole other game in itself, with the means to want to keep playing it in hopes of looting that one part with that one stat needed to create an uber space part with. Making every object a true 3d object, so that even junk could be used as decor. A lot of junk was needed to turn into stat mods no less. So everything had a use pretty much. This game is nothing more than an expensive fully voiced single player game that's trying hard to be an MMO. There's very little in common with SWG in this game. Too bad for SWTOR and us that they tried to copy things from WOW more than SWG.
  4. This game handles SLI and dual-GPU single video cards badly. I'd guess they're not even supported, which is why we have to tweak and try stuff to get them working right. As the other guy suggested, disable the 2nd card then try it. If that doesn't work pull the 2nd card and see if that works. The game I believe gets confused by dual-GPU cards even one alone. So getting quad-SLI to work has to be a nightmare in this game.
  5. Exactly. Well the $200+CPUs from AMD might beat it by a small margin, but most of the $200 and under AMD CPUs can't touch the i3 2100 or 2120. If you absolutely must have a quad core and the i5 2500k is too much opt for the $50 less i5 2400, it's just as strong in most all games, except you can't overclock it. But honestly, overclocking isn't a must with the Intel stuff. AMD you buy cheap and run it hot as heck into the ground by overclocking, because they need pushed to perform. The Intel current gen processors run fantastic at stock specs, and don't need pushed via overclocking, but if needed the K-series processors work well if overclocking is a must. My son's i3 2120 tho handles SWTOR great with a solid 24-60 fps in warzones and on fleet, and it's rare it hits as low as 24 now with the GTX 460 1gb paired with it. I actually believe it's darn close to the same performance of my i5 2500k at stock speeds when running my i5 system with my SLI disabled running on a single video card. Best of all the i3 2100 and 2120s are like $120-$130 max respectively.
  6. I'd never have spent a dime on anything from AMD at the moment. The last generation of AMD CPUs are faster and better than the bulldozer stuff. A solid 1155 socket Intel board with even an i3 2120 3.3Ghz would outperform the 4100 in gaming, and it's a dual core processor that smokes the majority of what AMD has to offer in quad-core CPUs up to the $200 range even. And the i3 2120 is just $120. I know because I upgraded my son's aging 9750 Phenom 2.4ghz machine with one and a GTX 460 and this game runs fantastic now on it. Best option overall would have been an i5 2500k if it was in your price range with a P67 MB. What you ended up with isn't the worst you could have done, but at present AMD can't compete with Intel with much of anything that they have. Most any latest iCore CPUs (1155 socket) would have been the best route for gaming.
  7. The new 77xx stuff isn't that stellar. They fall somewhere in between the 6770 and 6870s in terms of performance, but for close to the cost of a 6850/70 card. Better option is a 68xx card for the money IF ATI is what you're into. Personally I prefer the GTX 460s from nVidia. They fall in between the 550ti and 560 cards, all for about $140-$150 each if you shop around. They're being phased out so that people buy the 550ti which is a lot slower or the 560 which is faster, but not by a whole lot to justify the $75 cost difference between one and a 460 1gb. If you ask me the 77xx series is epic fail
  8. I too can confirm that SLI is working in SWTOR. I'm using the last version of the Nvidia drivers and using the profile I setup myself for the game's launcher, and I selected Render Alternative Frames 2 as the other guy suggested to get it working right. I went from min FPS of 38-40 on the single card to 60-80 with a max of 110 now with SLI. So it's definitely working without the latest drivers on my dual 460s in SLI.
