It might be "accepted" as right depending on the community or whatnot, but it doesn't MAKE you right or the minority WRONG. You clearly feel that you are somehow morally and ethically superior because of your opinion, and I refuse to get into a debate with someone who claims the moral high ground over an opinion. What I'm doing isn't harming anyone, because I have as much right to the fruit of my labor as does everyone else in the party. Unless of course you believe that the proper and unselfish act, would be for me to expect everyone else to act only for my benefit. No where have I ever said I expect them to act solely on for my benefit. I'm sorry you feel that way ...these are the values I was taught and have had to relearn thru my 50 years of life. Nothing more.And folks have been pointing out that calling it "common decency" is a misnomer at best. It's greed and selfishness, covered by a mask of indignant self righteousness, and implied martyrdom. Or in other words you, or the OP, or whomever, wants a system that prioritizes what the majority may feel is more important during loot rolls. In this case stats for your particular class. But that's the thing, that minority that DOESN'T agree on what you choose as priority also has the same stake, they pay the same as you for the privilege to play. So again, unless BioWare decides to side with you and change the system, the players really have no right to force something out of the bounds of the current system on those who disagree. Same applies the other way, we cannot force you to roll with the system as is. But your view differs from the system, you want it changed, you be vocal before the run. Now while I don't really care how bad you are at debating, I would ask, that your restrict yourself to facts and not suppositions. And while you're at it, keep it clean. You have absolutely ni justification for using such words. I apologize that you don't like the concept of 'loot whore' - but rolling on /almost/ everything simply because you can is pretty much a textbook definition. You don't feel it applies to you clearly, but your statements would indicate otherwise. Maybe not a full on one as you seem to have some capacity for self-restraint if your postings are to be believed. As for the usage of the word Hell in this context. No, if you look at my comment, I included "arguing for" and "should" in my statements. I am not saying that anyone is forced to play a certain way. On that note, I DO disagree with the original title of this thread - "no, you may not roll" literally is incorrect. We're talking about how people "should" play - or, if that feels too imperative, we're trying to come up with a model of the best way that people can play. It's pretty standard of people who argue your position to do that though; it's part of the standard package where you pretend you have some kind of moral high ground. Well, if you're giving" the loot, that must mean you've got it on Master Looter. Unless I know you already, I won't run in a PUG with Master Looter on, because I don't trust other players (who likewise don't know me) to have my best interests (as defined by my own motivations) at heart. I have no issues with Master Looter in guild runs or groups of friends, but with 4/7/15 other people who I don't know? I'm not giving control over loot distribution to any of those people. But for your benefit: Trying to extrapolate the state of a large group from a small sample is meaningless if your sample is not properly selected. You don't clearly define "courtesy looting". You don't show whether your definition incorporates variants of a given view. You only appeal to two of the largest threads, which is an incomplete data set of a group of posters who already represent a statistical minority of the actual subscriber base. In short, your numbers aren't nearly as reliable (let alone 100% objective) as you'd need them to be to make an irrefutable case for your position, and the position(s) that you include in "courtesy looting" aren't defined to begin with. No, you clearly don't respect others. You're flinging insults at people who are in favor of fairness instead of stacking the deck. you're asserting that without backing it up in any way. I say it's the other way around, that perpetuating a system based on removing fairness and selfishness (the one you're advocating) is detrimental to the game. My entire method of loot distribution supports respect for other players and the investment they make in grouping with me. Your method greatly diminishes their potential reward in favor of your own. Just because you CAN roll any anything doesn't make it 'more fair' unless everyone is doing it for the same reasons. You are imposing your beliefs on the group as solidly as anyone else in this thread and the sooner you realize that your way benefits you a lot more than anyone else the sooner you can join a social game.
