Vehicles on Fleet Station... seriously? Such logic!

Update: After the Speeder Price Reduction of patch 1.1.5, this has, as I foresaw, grown out of hand and is now completely absurd. Bioware, you guys should be ashamed for allowing this to go on. Way to ruin your game!

I see the word "Immersion breaking" tossed around a lot... so I may as well toss it out too (because it is breaking MY immersion, so there). Seeing a bunch of vehicles racing around on a tiny confined station, is not what a space station is about. Whats the point of stairs? Why have a cantina? Chairs and tables? Pedestrians watch out!

I'm going to get a lot of flak from vehicle griefers on this one, because this will take away their toy.

Bioware: Turn this ridiculous ability off on fleet station!

Logic, sense, and reasoning:

  • Huge vehicles piled on mailboxes, vaults, GTNs, cantina counters, making it almost impossible for others to click through.
  • Jumping up and down over and over on above locations. If you are that *****, call an escort!
  • Visually clogging, especially with the growing number of over-sized speeders.
  • Noise-griefing at above locations by mounting/dismounting repeatedly.
  • The droning-noise from many vehicles hovering at the GTN is an unbearable distraction.
  • FPS hits from all the blowing particles and extra speeder chassis.
  • It doesn't take that much longer to run/sprint around fleet station.
  • There are no vehicle lane markings on walkways or stairs.
  • Makes others think badly about a guild when guild-members are seen doing these things.
  • Everyone that goes by in a vehicle is instantly viewed with *rolleyes*.
  • Do you see Harleys and Hummers racing around inside a Mall?
  • Do you see people driving their cars down the terminal halls in airports?

Possible Solutions:

  • Moving walkways that while running on them, makes the player move very fast around the station.
  • Moving platforms that people ride from one end of the station to the other. Direct route.
  • Add a race track and parking lot level to Fleet Station where vehicle use IS allowed.

This is not only coming from me, but from friends in game, roleplayers in game, and a few random others in game. However I fully expect the jerks to loudly voice their hate on me in this thread. :p Its ruining the game, and Fleet Station has quickly become "the place to avoid because its just stupid now".

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

They don't allow you to ride a speeder through the dune sea tunnel (yet taxi's fly through), but they allow speeders on a fricken tiny space station? Who in their bright mind came up with that one.

Err the station is hardly tiny.

and only because you would like to run around for "immersion" sake, doesn't mean the rest of us would like waste half our time running from one end to the other end of the station.

You heartless bastard! How dare you try to deny people the ability to shave 0.00765 seconds off of their travel time by mounting up on their speeder bike to travel from their ship hangar door to the cargo hold?! When you add up all the time you save by zooming around populated hallways on a FREAKING hyper-speed hover bike, you get three, maybe four seconds! So to hell with your "immersion"!

I kinda see your point when it's the Landspeeder type ones but the level 25 mounts are more like using a Segway in the mall than driving your car through it.

Are you on an RP server by the way? If so, you might have a legitimate case of causing it to be one of those community-enforced rules, like IC chat, etc.

For non-RP realms, however, I think most folk will be on the "gameplay experience > realism" side of the fence.

Also, how the hell will people show off with that one vehicle (the big car looking one) if they can't sit around for hours in the fleet and pretend to be doing something other than driving around to show off their "mount"? Have you no empathy, OP?

I think, as far as I can tell from the in-game wording, BioWare's stance on "RP" servers is pretty much:

"We made this for RPing. But we're not enforcing any special rules on it."

/agree

It would probably help with the lag as well. All the processing it takes to render the speeders moving around is probably taxing to the servers.

The server doesn't do the rendering for player objects - your computer does. The only difference between walking/sprinting/speeders in this case is the rate they move around. The server merely sends your machine information about where objects are.

Oh no, it's the "it breaks my immersion" beast. What happens if you need to step away from the game for a phone call, or a fire in your home? Does that break your immersion?
