  1. You can just mail credit and loot from one fraction to the other as long as both characters are controlled by you.
  2. You know all that gear you grabbed while leveling....? Recruit is simply a booster to get a competitive level of expertise. PvE always gives you that built into the whole system
  3. What if there were no hypothetical questions?
  4. Many of the titles from planets as well as species codex entries have been bugged since launch. It's in the to-do list but other matters keep coming up that overshadows the problems with the codex entries.
  5. 1. You pay to play the operation for the content and boss fights. 2. You pay to equip epic gear that you obtained. These are two separate pieces of content that simply have something in common with one another. You don't need both to experience both. you can still raid the content for the joy of running the content. And you can obtain epic gear via other means then Operations.
  6. Are you referring to P2W when comparing to F2P members? If that's the case then you might as well call all subscribers P2W. Generally speaking, P2W would refer to a person who gains the edge over others by only the means of paying money, Since this has a subscription model as the intended game play model, P2W would need to include and advantage that you can buy to overcome subscription players. This is not the case as far as I can tell.
  7. 50-50-90 Rule: Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.
  8. Sorry to disappoint you but you don't really have any form of a CC as a jugg. CC = Crowd Control, basically removes a mob from the fight via a 1 minute stun of immobilized ability. Abilities that are used for CC are obvious in the sense that they will often heal the target while it is stunned, will break upon a damage spell, and keeps the target locked for 60 seconds.
  9. This was all discussed way back in March... http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=341126 The reason there is no recent discussion on any of it is because there has been no evidence that goes against it. All signs that were brought to light from the implementation of parses simply proved all of this. You are mis-representing a Dev interview by claiming they said something they didn't. If you present the interview we will kindly point out how you mistook what they were talking about. Any other homework you would like me to do for you?
  10. Interesting opinion, but I'd rather side with the link that has stood the test of time (and most people have confirmed over that time period rather then argued against) over your "memory". Now, if you have any supporting evidence to suggest that the article linked may in fact be wrong, then we may very well be speaking on different terms.
  11. I'm not sure what tricks a marauder has for pulling this off, but it's easy to do as a mercenary. We can use our AoE knock-back to push the mines out of the way to avoid taking all the damage from them. Then it's just a matter or walking back and forth pressing buttons and using our self shield and heal if needed.
  12. It's ok, we'll just assume your wrong until you can find the Dev interview stating otherwise.
  13. I would definitely place my money on it being 2 characters for F2P. Best case being maybe 16/6.
  14. Found this in the Dev Tracker: "I can clarify that the item will not disappear after the timer is over - after that time period, the item is no longer bound to you and can be traded!" Seems to simply be a trading lock and that's it.
  15. Did we just read the same post? All I saw was another typical rant for more content...
  16. In beta they were required but that changed before release. For about 6 months they really never had a purpose. Currently, you can use them to add an augmentation slot to your gear so that augments can be added as a stat booster. So they do have a use for the time being.
  17. Just because I have a short attention span doesn't mean I
  18. Lol, don't ever underestimate the ability for an MMO community to complain about anything. I've seen threads on here in the past complaining about the unfair addition of 1-month free game time a while back. My guess is that we will instantly see people complaining about how the system was not implemented the way they wanted it, thus crying that it is generally useless. Or, people will complain that it makes the game to easy and removes part of the "skill" involved with being an effective healer. Pick your poison. From BW's stand point, it looks like the only benefit from any of this would help increase DPS output of a healer which is the exact opposite of what BW tries to work for. Everything I've seen since launch indicates that BW wants players to specifically focus on one particular aspect of playing (in this case healing). They tend to shun any form of hybrid builds and fight at all costs to allow healers to put up a DPS number greater then what is considered trivial. So I don't really see them working for anything like this based on that standpoint. IMO, it's perfectly reasonable since it's simply another means of healing with no obvious form of an advantage/disadvantage to how it can be played now. Since it is currently possible to start a cast on a target and select the next target for healing, healing efficiency has already been rather high and any form of mouse over healing won't improve upon that. DPSing as a healer is hardly anything that's important currently so I just turn a blind eye towards that aspect in general.
  19. Juggs are not what I would consider the best are threat generation. If you are switching targets for the taunt as well as stepping back out of melee range so people can pick up the DD orbs, then this may be 3-10 seconds of no threat generation on Stormcaller while the DPS is unloading. Plus, you are not using your own taunt for the threat multiplier on your own target. Add that all together and you give yourself a big disadvantage for fighting off the DPS from pulling aggro within the first 20% of the fight. An AoE taunt might be enough to give you the upper hand but depending on when you can use it and if will be enough is all up for grabs.
  20. How would this work in more detail? Specifically, would you have to wait for the cooldown of the spell you want to cast be complete first before you can select it as your next cast, and then click the intended target? Would you get to select the ability while it is on cooldown and spam the mouse button until it goes off? Would it be to simply hover the mouse over the target and the spell will hit the person without needing a click? The details make all the difference where some aspects can somewhat trivialize healing, while others could simply make mouse of healing more cumbersome then helpful. It's a double edge sword in the sense that no matter how you set it up, it has the high potential to piss a lot of people off in the end. I would much prefer them to just add text and a target of target to the focus target so healers can keep a second eye on the boss as well as the raid members you are targeting.
  21. I just look at it like this: Do you enjoy progressive raiding and working towards the next goal? Play SWTOR! Do you enjoy being able to jump into any event and enjoy the atmosphere and environment? Play GW2! It's two very different styles of gaming and caters to two very different player base.
  22. The three means of testing gamers in PvE content: Execution - The most commonly used method. The basic concept is to incorporate enough mechanics as to overwhelm the user with what they must do throughout the fight. Example would involving moving through a maze while rotating your character in a circle and jumping every 9 seconds while blocking every 5% of the boss hp. Generally this can become the "Don't stand in fire" syndrome. When players repeatably run the same boss fight doing the same execution it becomes stale and boring, not because the fight is actually boring but that the player already knows how it all plays out. This form is clearly prevalent among all fights (except for EV's council fight...) so no example should be needed. Twitch reaction - This is done by creating a situation where something random will take place and the speed of reaction the player has will dictate the success of the fight. This can be good or bad depending on how it's implemented. Often times issues of lag and latency become very prevalent with these types of mechanics which can lead to a back lash from players. It can also be a problem if someones slow reaction in turn leads to another s death. This generates the "random number generator" syndrome where people blame the random effects for other players not reacting properly. When it comes to tanks, this is most prevalent with taunts, interrupts, or blocks. By incorporating multiple of these in the same fight tends to cause issues with not being able to predict which ability was suppose to be used. Which will lead me to my last point in a bit. Examples: Bonethrasher target swap, Majority of Jarg and Sorno mechanics, Heavy Fabricators Missle, Karagga's gavity well, Minesweepeers AoE knockback, Kephess (EC) bombardier mechanic (both the spawn and who must run), Nightmare Pilgrims blood mark, Just looking at the examples, its clear that they are working to improve this means of testing the players. They still heavily lack tank anticipation tests which is usually because tanks are meant to maintain control of the fight so random mechanics is counter intuitive. Anticipation - The art of predicting what is to come next. This more or less combines the previous two in a way that you must know the order of execution but also react to an event in a twitch like manor. This tends to be a common test for tanks since they basically must predict when the boss will soft enrage and pre-empt that with a defensive cooldown. Interrupting timed attacks and taunting timed spawns is also very common among fights. Examples: Gharj punce, Soa's pillar drop, Jarg & Sorno carbonite droids, Foreman Crusher soft enrage, Heavy Fabricator fire blast, Karagga fire pit and mouse droids, Toth and Zorn jumps, Everything involving the tanks, Kephess (EC) pull-in, Writhing horrors jumps and add spawns, Kelsaras leach and chains, Operator IX color swaps, Majority of Kephess mechanics (TFB). And of course the oh so common tank swapping. Overall, they have a strong balance of mechanics for tanks with small lack of random mechanics for valid reasons. Aside from forcing a gauntlet run, I can't imagine to much more you can ask for that hasn't already been done at least once across the board. As often that it is required to spam taunts during fights, there is just so much more going on along with it, which I would imagine is how it should be. In my opinion, they just need to fine tune the encounters to be more punishing for a lack of efficiency and miss managing mechanics in general. But that is TBD with the implementation of nightmare EC and going forward.
  23. Two rules of success in life: 1. Don't tell people everything you know.
  24. Leach should only occur on HM immediately after Kelsara chases after a random person in the raid (with the exclusion of the first Leach). when you see the yellow beam that indicates Kelsara is chasing someone, you should immediately think about which tank was just tanking and top him/her off. As long as you do it quickly, any hots that you applied should fade off before the leach is casted on the tank. Of course, the exclusion to this is the first leach that is applied. This is the hard one to predict and you need to play very cautiously when it comes to guessing when it will go off. Make sure you have Kelsara focus targeted to see the .5 second cast time of leach. It's not much but it may be the deciding factor between a safe tank and a dead one from a late rapid scan. Generally speaking, the hots hurt but don't change the fight overall. If the tank is above 50% HP and hots are ticking, he will survive it. It's when healers throw in a late heal that also applies the hot that would be the killing blow. Kolto shell is also a non factor, the tank should not be taking damage thus no procs should occur during that time.
  25. Ya BW, stop giving us information! It's not like we ask for it or anything.
