  1. lol, my bad. I just saw "for healing" and jumped on it. PvP is most likely the go to. I haven't ran numbers for tanking but the on use defense/absorbtion ones may also be beneficial if you are expecting to only take large amounts of damage for a brief time.
  2. On use power relic and your choice of on use crit-surge/ PvP relic/ Matrix cube.
  3. Nope, it wouldn't have skill shots, or be realistic enough, or difficult enough, or easy enough, or have enough mini games, or include Master Chief, or enough humor, or balance, or big enough, or better voice protocal, or less lag, or more friends, or less computer spec requirements, or linux support, or real money auction house, or work on an iPhone, or not be apart of EA. I think you get the idea...
  4. I wouldn't necessarily consider dual spec's and free respecs the same thing. BW gave no indication that a dual spec system would involve the free process of swapping between to two roles. Unless otherwise noted, I would treat the two ideas as separate requests in general. That punishment of the respec cost is also meant to be a tax on the successful player. Someone playing the game under two roles obtains the benefits of fulfilling both roles leaving others that aren't quiet as lucky to be left out more often because of this. The cost is to encourage both for the individual to stick to and master a specific role, as well as for other to take up the role that is left over. By removing this burden, it simply discourages the use of seeking out new individuals to fill specific roles. Since a group of friends can simply use the same person for any desired need, social interaction is tossed aside entirely.
  5. You say that as if you can't already respec in the middle of a run with friends from what's available in game right now. It all basically comes down to the luxury of avoiding any screw ups when respecing so that no extra charges are needed to fix up any mistakes that could potentially be made.
  6. I'm not quiet sure what is actually being suggested here as a fix. The only true solution to the problem is to some how get more people to take on the role of healer and tank (which they did encourage with the legacy respec skill along with the stat itemization between heals and DPS being nearly identical). It seems like you are requesting a more harsher lockout for people dropping group which I would imagine would simply discourage healers and tanks from even bothering to run HM's even more through group finder. Players in general will always feel the need to drop a group if they view it as inadequate to their liking. So long as dpser remain in low demand with the high number of players refusing to take up another role, they will continue to feel the harsh effects of not being needed. Tanks and healers, will also continue to have no problem finding a group of friends that they can use to stay away from group finder as the annoyance factor from group finder raises. I'd imagine that your suggestion for a "fix" to group finder may only make matters much worse.
  7. By comparing Parses. Any other hardball questions?
  8. If they decided to make many boss encounters revolve around burst phases then the on use relics will take precedence over the passive ones. Similar to Kephess Bombadiars only in the extreme sense that you will most likely fail if not everyone in the raid triggers an on use relic to kill something with 20 seconds. Or they can just make better ones for PvE and just Ban them from PvP.
  9. And his Death! as I qoute "My demise accomplishes nothing! The Master will have you! You will drown in your own blood! The world shall burn!"
  10. Feature Request: Option under preference to replace general chat box with the orange pixel. It at least gives me the feeling I am loved and not alone.
  11. (I'll try to keep this brief because I have never actually played LOTRO so I don't want to make a bunch of baseless claims about it that I don't know, pls call me out if I do end up doing that in some way) First things first, Uh... why not just play LOTRO? A lot of those features don't appease me in any way so I would much prefer this game to not go in that direction (thus why I play this game). 1. Vertical tier progression has it's perks being that people can run what ever they want. I would much rather enjoy a journey where I must first travel through one zone to move onto the next. It's a preference of play style so to call one out dated over the other is rather insulting. 2. Agree, random drops can create a sense of hope and distaste that can bring emotion to the looting process. But I do recognize some people hate the concept of random in general and can see why it was not implemented. 3. Associates with point 1. If things never got harder then what as already out then the game beings to become stale. 4. As much as I love building adjustable sets to increase my effectiveness on killing specific bosses, I've always viewed resistance based gear as lame. It can be implemented in a way where it makes sense but often times, it feels to much of a grind with no real benefit. The idea of obtaining loot that can not be used immediately until similar loot is obtained as a whole is just frustrating to say the least. Generally the stats are the way they are for the sole purpose of creating a strong balance between success and failure for the boss encounters. The closer the balance is, the more effective the boss fights can be tuned to require raw skill as the means to down the boss.
  12. I agree that the combat message system is incredibly weak, but that just forces me to be that much more aware of what is going on in the game. I would say to just push yourself to start moving your eyes around the screen more to get more awareness on what is taking place within the fights. One of the biggest pitfalls that many raiders have fallen into recently is that they focus their eyes solely on their cast bars or buff list to optimize themself. Next thing they know is that they are one of the special people who can never seem to stay out of fire while it's chasing them down on the move. If you are dying and don't know why, the last thing you should ask is for the game to tell tell you what you did wrong. as a gamer you should be able to solve these dilemma's yourself by applying skills and knowledge to solve the problem. For the second point, very rarely will it be possible to adjust your characters ability to DPS while in combat. A good indicator that your DPS is low is also the numbers flying above the boss. If you are seeing 50's and 60's when you should be hitting for 5k and 6k, you know you are missing something. I have an installed DPS meter with overlay and as a healer, I used to adjust my play style to maximize my number outputs. The Toth and Zorn fight, I realized if I stand with the melee DPS and spam my AoE heal, then my healing output overall was increased drastically. I was also placing myself to take more damage which did nothing but lead me to risk dying because my health was never topped off. Meters really do make people play dumb just to get a slight edge for no reason. I've seen DPSers skip on threat drops to get in an extra ability, never cleanse, occasionally take hits to finish a cast, and push bosses to the edge of transitions (often to far) when DPS needs to hold off. They are a great tool for perfecting your skill but to have it easily accessible all the time just leads people down the wrong path of playstyle. To have 3rd party tools that are a bit clumsy and require to be manually turned on simply encourages players to not use it as a crutch but as a tool like it should be. (I wrote way more then I intended....)
  13. uh.... they did give us the option. They gave us a way to save the logs which many raiders do in fact use to their advantage. No choice is what we had at release where it was nearly impossible to total your DPS from a fight unless you recorded the fight and painstakingly added up all the flying text from the recording.
  14. Keep in mind that creating easier access to better gear is in itself a nerf to all raiding content in the game. With the increase to access of black hole comms that BW implemented recently, each piece obtained by a casual player exponentially made story mode EC that much easier to clear. It doesn't always have to be about nerfing the boss fights themselves to allow easier access to SM raids. Just by making the characters themselves stronger, you make it easier to jump up the latter of progression (EV/KP becomes super easy, EC becomes easy, etc...)
  15. If you don't have the determination to become a better player with the use of 3rd party tools, then you are just lazy. DPS meters are not an essential tool to play this game (it's not even essential for being a good raider) and thus not a set requirement for BW to create. They met raiders half way by giving them the basics of what they need to parse the information. If you choose not to use what is given then so be it.
  16. You can save your combat logs and upload them to a parser (google swtor parser and you will find a handful), This in itself is basically a scoreboard for the end of a boss fight. There is also a variety of 3rd party programs that will implace an overlay onto your game window to show you in real time what you are doing if you prefer that sort of thing.
  17. oh, it's this again... Some people have "it" and some don't. Thus, the creation of meters. Some people can lead a raid in a way where they can watch health bars while recognizing the location of healers. To know who is doing what in order to determine if one is struggling over the other. Some people can lead so that while they complete their own role, they can watch the position of tanks and the flow of motions they make to recognize if one player hesitates (or is sluggish) with his motions over the other. Some people have the ability to process all the variety of hints and information (gear, character visual displays, speed of individual mob/trash kills, buff interactions) and mentally process the rating of DPS his individual members have. Some can form the trust and appreciation that their members will continue to work to improve ones self by educating and seeking more information in the mechanics of this game. Others prefer things to do that for them.
  18. 1. This could be a minor feature enhancement that would make the most sense as an enable box located in preference. I personally prefer looking at what I'm picking up before hand instead of it just appearing right in my inventory. As if the ability to loot multiple corpses instantly with a single click is not effective enough as is. 2. The only thing you seem to be pointing to is the event scenarios GW2 has. I very much would love the concept of breathing worlds were things are constantly taking place. But this is just a gimmick that only looks amazing the first time you see it. Once all the scenarios have been seen then it's just like re-runs of TV series, amusing but stale. The amount of work required to make this gimmicks just doesn't pay off in the long run and that will show in GW2 once the game has aged several months and everyone is crying for more content. 3. Intriguing idea. I have no idea how it will play out but I am totally up for the idea of trying it out. Can't imagine anything negative arriving from joining multiple guilds. 4. SWTOR is intended to give off the perspective that the world you are in is massive and open, where traveling to the destinations is equivalent to navigating a planet, not walking through a park. This concept just doesn't fit in with the game at all. 5. Fix what? you can group up at level 1 if you and your friend are on the same planet as well as run the same class quest (have to run it twice though). I'm not sure where the problem is here. Also, who plays GW2 for PvE? it's PvP oriented. the PvE is just meant for the adventure and once that is complete, all that's left is to PvP. Why base this game off a design that has no intent on continuing to expand on a regular basis?
  19. The dot is given by one of the bosses (I want to say Zorn) when you get in range of his scream, usually only the tank and possibly the healer will receive this and should be cleansed immediately (has a very bright orange debuff indicator that sticks out in the raid frames). If this is lingering on healers during the red circles phase, your pushing your luck on survivability. the dot will do around 12k damage total so by cleansing this immediately, your cleanse becomes the equivalent of a 10-12k heal, or you can waste the resources . Occasionally situations will arrive where the majority of the raid gets this (someone pulled the boss to close to the range or it spawned while everyone is dodging circles). Be sure to call out for DPS to help cleanse in situations like this since the cooldown will inhibit the cleansing of everyone in the raid.
  20. How many alternative characters do you have? Can always start a new one as a new role and try viewing the universe from that perspective.
  21. I was kinda hopping for something similar to what you get for completing EC the first time. Just a little sign to show greater things are to come. As opposed to the coming soon sign I view the codex entry as.
  22. As for the second bug, it's been widely reported that this is caused by a changing of the instance when everyone leaves the zone. A simple solution is simply to ensure one person stays inside after a wipe until someone else is already back in. This way the zone instance can not swap leaving the zone as if it just reset. Bugs will always exist, and these forums will always be a great resource for finding out great workarounds for said bugs. Falling for bugs that have been in the game for 5+ months now is more or less on you then the developers at this point.
  23. I believe it was at the end of the Correlia story line. My friend and I were doing it together and I won the role for the big speech at the end. I'm not sure why but my character decided to make a plug for being a bounty hunter for hire. The entire speech was simply an advertisement for me to make more money. What brings joy to me is the fact that my friend, after doing all the work to save the planet, must now listen to me make the great speech on how I'm the best bounty hunter for hire. By far the greatest immersion breaker that could have happened for him. (Who cares what an imperial agent has to say anyways )
  24. Your telling me that a server that was basically built from re-rollers, is now having a large chuck of people jumping ship? ....shocker
  25. Clearly we are just helping them destroy the universe so we can have something to fix afterwards.
