Sometimes it's not about the strat, sometimes even though you're doing the boss right you're just not hitting it hard enough. Finding out who is using the wrong rotation/gear, and helping them improve or replacing them if they cant is one of the few ways you can fix that problem.

If you are already doing the best possible dps you can do, how exactly do you work on your dps if its not you causing the problem in the group?

I'm a min/maxer, I have been and I always will be. I've not rushed to end game, I've been playing since the EA and I'm level 41. I've been crafting the best possible stuff for myself as I level up, I've been coated in artifact purples since level 15, and I really enjoy it.

I stand out by wearing full crafted purples, I don't do flashpoints because they give too much exp, so I've been skipping them.

Well, on my level 18 smuggler I use about five abilities regularly. On my level 41 shadow I have 8-10 I use often, half of which are cooldowns/procs. Honestly, I've found combat to be simplistic in most specs. And yeah, avatar comment, that's a really bad assumption for me to make, considering I don't have any sith characters.

Class would help.

I am a near max level shadow tank, I can solo heroic 4's, and heroic 2's with ease. Any problems you're having on your shadow are because you're doing it wrong.

Parsers will not automatically improve your performance. They do not tell you what to do, they do not help you be more aware and a smart person can still be uninformed without the data they provide. There is no weakness in a lack of information, if you can tell me right now the dps differential between each of the dps specs in the game I will acknowledge I am unskilled, while you clearly are.

How is any kind of parsing program a crutch, tell me this.

One uses a rogue-style resource which is endless, the other uses mana. Derp.

Yeah, if you don't see the point of bettering yourself using a tool, and would rather have people guess and point fingers at the WRONG PEOPLE because you don't have a parser then you will not improve the performance of the guild.

Sure it does, because recount also tracks interrupts and healing done, and to whom. CC is implied in everyone's job, if a top dps isn't using cc then it doesn't matter what their dps is. Honestly, the assumption that a combat log parsers sole purpose is to boast is ridiculous. I can be just as much of a dick now if I wanted, claiming that my sorcerer must be the highest dps in the group because that's what I read somewhere on some forum.

The only chest I farm on illum has a 20 minute timer, I wonder where this mythical 7 minute chest is...

They never have an answer, I've yet to see one, across many mmo forums. The only answers I've ever seen are "I'll fail until we all quit, and have a good time doing it".

If content is that trivial then there won't be a point in playing, if they are going to sacrifice the tuning of high end encounters because there is no way for players to better themselves then the game will quickly become stale. Why would I not question my friends and their ability? Everyone makes mistakes, I question my own damage/healing on each and every character I'm on.

For the two who are attempting to pick me apart for being elitist, this is what I'm talking about. I've never once posted a log in any chat, I don't care what a persons dps is if we are succeeding. But when you are failing at something, finding out the weak link in a large group and helping them to improve, or replacing them is not using a mod as a crutch.

I'd quit over not having a measurable way to improve. I'd leave a group if someone refused to tell me that they were the one causing our repeated failure. If a fight is tuned properly, with any kind of difficulty, you won't get by just by mashing whatever random ability you decide you want to use. Considering the complexity of most proper rotations in WoW "Pushing the same buttons" isn't really something to worry about. You don't need a damage meter to tell you that the sage in melee range slicing at the enemy and casting nothing is dragging you down, but it sure does make it easier to spot.

It is the business of everyone in the group, if someone is causing a wipe due to low healing/dps. The people who fear scrutiny only do so because they are worried they will be judged based on doing badly. If they know they are doing badly, they can do something to improve. If they are unwilling to hear about how badly they are doing because they might get their feelings hurt, then I really would rather not waste my time with them.

Repairing is one of the few credit sinks in game, if you want any credits to leave the economy you need to have repairing in.

Anyone have a purple artifact version of the level 41 kinetic defense bracers? I've had some really terrible luck, and while I know its likely that a purple version exists, I'd like to know if someone else has actually had success with this recipe. Considering just using a blue with augment slot, because I've spent far too much time on this one item.
