  1. I think this is good material for a future expansion of the game. As others have said, Pierce is kind of a "confirmed bachelor". I don't know if you've met any people like Pierce in real life before, but most of the time guy like that take time to come around.
  2. Let me guess, you play a trooper? Your not nearly as nerfed as the operations dummy tells you you are. The Operations dummys have 5813 Armor rating which translates to 35% damage reduction against Kinnetic and Energy damage. The dummy currently has 0% damage mitigation to Internal and Elemental damage, so specs that cause high damage in those areas tend to parse higher due to the damage reduction being applied. I run a 16 man operations group. Using Mox Parser and ranking by overall damage done. My #1 dps was an Marksman Sniper, followed closely by an Arsenal Mercinary. #3 was a Lightning Sorcers, #4 was me as a Pyrotech Mercinary (which most people claim is bad for PVE). 5 and 6 where Marauders, which are supposed to be OP now.
  3. $15 a month is cheap entertainment assuming you actually log in and play the game. This Saturday I went to see the Avenger's spent $20. I was entertained pretty well for about 3 hours. Last Night was raid leading HM EC for 3 hours. Downed Toth and Zorn and nearly killed the tanks. After Raid I logged out, and spent 8 hours finishing the story-line for my Jedi Knight. If you can log in and enjoy playing the game. $15 a month is cheap. People spend more money on Cigarettes. You can't even get a bottle of good liquor for $15.
  4. Makes perfect sense. RPers are the people who spend the most time sitting down and talking to people in game. Even though they make up a smaller portion of the population, they also spend much more time in game just socializing with other people than people on generic PVP and PVE servers.
  5. Kashyyk. Dagohba would be interesting as it would be an excelent opportunity to flesh out it's back story and explain how the Dark Side has such a strong presence there. A Cloud City like environment would be pretty awesome, but I don't think Clout City itself exists yet. It would be some kind of early pre-curser to Cloud City. The Hapes Consortium Exist during this time period. The Hapes Consortium is in a Star System cluster that make up one of the major military powers in the Galaxy. The Hapes Cluster controls about 63 star system. The Empire and the Republic would have interest in either securing an alliance or making sure the Hapes Cluster stays neutral, or is conqured. By this point in the story they've been around for nearly maybe a few centuries years and have managed to remain independent. The key to their independence is the that their sector of space is surrounded by a giant cloud of Ionized Gas that would cripple a ship if it flew into it. The Founders of the Hapes Consortium are Pirates who found several paths through the mysts. The Chiss Assendency would be cool to visit. The Chiss are in the game already. Ossus is actually a good candidate. The Jedi seeking lost knowledge might attempt to venture to Ossus to discover some lost secret. Of course the Sith have secrets hidden there by the Jedi after the Great Hyperspace War and have just as much reason to be there. During this time it's been centuries since the surface of the planet was turned toxic and heavily irradated. The people who live on Ossus during the Time of TOR are Ysanna, who are a race of mutated humans called the Ysanna. They are force sensitive but they have forgotten the ancient Jedi teachings and view their powers as some form of Magic. There was an old developer blog about how the game changed during development published about 2 years ago about how Force Adapts were a potential class at one point during the game's development. If you decided to add the class and needed to mirror it across factions, the Voss could join the Empire and the Ysanna could join the Republic. While the Witches of Dathomir are a closer match to the Ysanna in the way that they view and use the force, the Witches of Dathomir wont exist for another 600 years. Its really too bad because the Witches of Dathomir ride around on Rancor Mounts and Rancor Mounts are cool!
  6. Stock prices always rise when there is word of a potential buy off. In order to take over a company you have to buy all the outstanding shares. That means that the demand for the stock will increase. And when people are more willing to buy the stock the price of the stock goes up because it incentizes short term investors to put in their money. Then when the buy-out happens they investors make a tidy sum of money as Capital gains, which only has 15% tax rate instead of a 30% + tax rate that regular income tax comes with. That's the short version. If the prices came back down today then it might be because of speculation that the buy back isn't going to happen.
  7. Exploding People: Good: Exploding People is fun. Exploding on People is fun. Bad: Standing around for 10 minutes in close proximity to other pvp flagged players waiting and then trying to get one of them to kill you so you can grind out event currency in the quickest possible manner, is not fun. Event currency didn't need to be tied to blowing up on people, its the slowest and grindest way I can think of to get event currency, and highly frustrating when someone comes in and decides to wreck it for everyone. For instance when a level 50 Bounty Hunter in full Battle Master gear used Death from Above to wipe out an entire ball of people trying to grind event currency just to troll them. World Bosses: The world bosses were great, the world boss in outlaws den even occasionally lead to same faction vs same faction world pvp on my server and started a few grudges. Quests: The quests and the rewards were good and kept people coming back once they got started. Story: The news casts and the warnings in the fleet, and all the new containment officers standing around added a lot to this event. In Most MMOs when an event happens the people running the game just tell you that on this day or during this time period something will happen. In this game everything we the players needed to know about the event was conveyed to us in game and got us hooked. You didn't need an announcement to tell us this was coming. We were simply surprised as soon as we walked logged into the game. I remember logging into the fleet and almost immediately someone exploded on. My character turned green and starting moving violently and I was thinking, "Wow that was weird." And then I heard the announcement that Tatooine was being quarantined and that the Rakghoul virus was spreading and I knew "I've been infected." "I've got to go to Tatooine and get to the bottom of this." So I tried to leave the station was attacked by containment officers trying to kill me on the fleet on the way to my ship. I got attacked me three more once I got to Tatooine. Once I got to Tatooine I started asking around to figure out what was going on. It was almost like what you would imagine to happen in a movie when something big just happened. But I was actually doing in game in general chat. Before long I was in part of the Dune Sea I'd never discovered on my map before crawling around crashed space ship with space zombies and members of the opposite faction everywhere! IMO: This was probably the best in-game event I've ever seen in an MMO before and you guys pulled it off exceedingly well.
  8. This game takes place 3000 years before the movies. If you go a little further into the timeline, about 1000 years before the movies, there was a galaxy wide war between Dark Jedi who had taken up Sith Teachings and the Republic that spanned for centuries that essentially pushed the entire galaxy into a dark age where much of their technology was lost. There is technology in plane sight in Star Wars that nobody even understands how it works anymore because it was made by some civilization that no longer exists, but it still functions. Star Wars is full things like that.
  9. Endgame relics are not bound to alignment. That means once you get to level 50 you can get a relic that's good for you you right away. In fact the relics you can get from the recruit pvp vendor are better than the alignment based ones which are only really useful for leveling anyway.
  10. The Bounty Hunter tracks down a group of Preservers (The Preservers are a faction of Mandalorians who follow the example Canderous AKA. Mandalore the Preserver). While confronting their leader, the Bounty Hunter learns the truth about the Emperor's manipulation of the Mandalore the Great into carrying out the Mandalorian wars. The Bounty Hunter comes to believe that the current Mandalore is also being manipulated by the Emperor. After Mandalore discovers what the Bounty Hunter has learned, he is declared a traitor to the other Mandalorians and hunted down. In order to clear their name, the Bounty Hunter must challenge Mandalore, and become the new Mandalore in the process. Will the new Mandalore continue to side with the Empire, or will they seek independence?
  11. Love it. I spotted the world boss in Outlaw's den up and we filled a 24 man op group within minutes to go kill it. Then we killed the other 2 world bosses in rapid sucession. After we killed the guy you spawn with the skull, we went over the nearby republic town and took over the place, killed all the guards, and all the players inside, just because we could.
  12. No, actually if you watched the guild summit videos, or read or watched the material that was out there prior to 1.2 coming out they very clearly said that they were intending to have some rewards that required both credits and legacy level to unlock.
  13. Mastercraft Mandalorian killed Toth and Zorn yesterday in 16 man Hard Mode. The drops were 4 Tokens for Campaign gear, including 2 leg slots and 2 bracers, 4 Black Hole Commendations. There might have also been an epic crafting material After Toth and Zorn we found a chest hidden off to the side behind some trees past the mining cave. It had 4 Black Hole commendations and some crafting materials, and 1 or 2 pieces of random Black Hole gear.
  14. 1.7 million is the number of subscribers as of the end of February. Bioware/EA are required to report their subscription numbers quarterly to investors because they are a publicly traded company, and they have to show their projected incomes and the sources of those incomes. The numbers are accurate as of when they were published.
  15. The only gear that's reverse engineerable to get the schematic for an orange shell is the new tier of Raid gear. Overall though there seems to be a push for more schematics.
  16. Lets see how reasonable your posts are. The server archetecture for SW:TOR is most likely based on blade server technology with hot swappable components. These servers are located in a full fleshed out data center. The cost of the building the data centers (the physical buildings in at least 3 countries) and the servers themselves in the range of millions of dollars. Much of which was a cost that EA and Bioware paid upfront before the game ever went live. This doesn't include salaries of those required to upkeep the servers, which can scale up to $100,000. Server maintanence is an expensive proposition on a project the size of TOR. The premise that "this is stuff that should have been fixed before the game released" is a moot point. Any time you build a large, expansive game, bugs tend to happen. Compared to the bugs that were in Skyrim at launch the bugs present in SW:TOR are much less frequent and not nearly as game breaking. However, those issues are being addressed. It is impossible to find every bug in a game this massive. Even with extensive testing a millions of people playing the game, new bugs which have likely been in the game since launch, are still being discovered. Your not getting 1 warzone and 1 flashpoint. Your getting a warzone, a flashpoint, an operation, a new questing zone on Corellia, a new gear tier, the legacy system, ranked warzones, and across the board improvements to crafting systems. Well that's the problem with your premise. We're not just paying for Bioware to maintain the game. We're paying for Bioware to maintain the game, fix bugs, create new content, and with a little bit of extra money on the side, we're giving them a profit.
  17. But Alderaan and Novare Coast same faction are training simulations! Voidstar I think is the only one not getting carried over.
  18. Look for a good guild with people who share similar interests, and you'll do fine.
  19. Its not a big deal guys. Originally they said 1.2 would be March back when 1.1 came out in January, then they pushed it back to "Early April" at the guild Summit. Honestly, the quality of this patch needs to be spot on when it comes out. It is better for Bioware to take their time and get it right than to rush out the door with it.
  20. Yes and no. Bioware did not develop the HeroEngine. It was another company that did that. Bioware did buy a pre-release version of the HeroEngine and then customized it themselves to include the features that the version of the HeroEngine they purchased did not support yet.
  21. I would argue that it makes perfect sense to do dailies for raid gear equivalent gear. The Daily gear doesn't have set bonus. Raid Gear does. You can only get like 15 commendations a day from doing all the new dailies. The ears and the 2 implants cost 30 each. The Bracers and the belts cost around 60. The other pieces cost between 120 and 90. By the time you farm all of your gear, which wont be as good as Raid Gear, Raiders will already have the they need. Blackhole Commendations armor is the new entree point armor for Operations going forward. The creation of the set is necessary in order for new players to get into the new raids faster. Even with the new Armor Set, to get into the new operation with a fresh 50. You can do Dailies on Corellia. Hard Mode Flashpoint Dailies, and tier 1 Operations to begin gearing out your character so that you can do Tier 2 Operations. Doing all three of these things will still take you a few weeks to get you ready for Stacking Daily gear with presence isn't a necessary solution. They would need to change the mechanics of how presence worked to make that a viable option. Presence in addition to making your companion stronger, would also need to make you stronger. And it would have to be programmed in such a way to only make you stronger when your with your companion.
  22. I don't know, I haven't seen the smuggler's storyline. Maybe if you can find some video or something we could compare what the character look like as well as their voice acting.
  23. It'll be a little expensive, but you can send your companions on to get the old materials. It actually only takes a short amount of time to skill up once you have 5 companions.
