  1. This is what duels are. Or random ganking.
  2. So the defending team full of tanks and heals never thought to interrupt a bomb? I'm assuming one person on defense was guarding the other door, so somehow 5 of you managed to CC 7 of them for 8 seconds at the exact same time? Either they all clumped up for some double-flashbang action (which makes them bad), they had 3+ guys defending a door with nobody at it (which makes them bad), or there were members of their team who weren't CCd and they didn't even try to hit the people capping the door (which, again, makes them bad.) Or you're lying and that strategy didn't work, I'm just giving you the benefit of the doubt here. And lol for that Novare Coast strategy. That one's not even worth commenting on if you think that's a valid strategy.
  3. Wow, that other team sounds terrible if that was your strategy and it worked. I've also fought really dumb teams before, it doesn't mean healing is overpowered. In fact that seems completely irrelevant to the power of healing.
  4. I agree with this thread. After all, the Operative roll is so ridiculously OP that it just makes perfect sense to give the same attributes to Assassins for their movement boost. Oh but you forgot to mention, you need to put it on the global cooldown. This way they don't accidentally waste any force power by using other skills for a moment, allowing them to spam it more!
  5. Is it because developers don't get arms on their chairs? Man, if I was a dev, I would want a comfy chair, and a chair with arms definitely fits that bill.
  6. As a vanguard, oh lordy do I know this feeling. In Huttball sometimes I'll wait for a good opportunity, then grab their ball-carrier into the fire, stun him, grab the ball myself, and book it for their endzone. Since the grapple and cryo grenade don't do damage, I usually don't get any "defeated the ball carrier" bonus either. This means the other team either can't score at all, or they'll have to devote resources to dealing with me (sending people to kill me or saving cooldowns to account for me), pulling away from their team's main offensive push. Meanwhile, I get almost no objective points. Oh well.
  7. I like the new rewards for losing. Before the minipatch, when it looked even kinda bad, everyone just left. This caused spawn camping and a lack of medals for us, which means even if we DID stick it out, we'd get little to nothing. Getting 3 medals while going 2v8 is really, really hard. Since the patch though, there have been games of us losing Alderaan by quite a bit that we've turned around and won, Voidstars where a sudden and unexpected surge of coordination allowed us to overpower the winning team so bad we capped the door in the first push (compared to their second or third), and even when we'd lose a Huttball 3-2, we'd still come out with a big pile of rewards for our effort. Win or lose now, everyone is better off.
  8. Because the inquisitor sprint is 150%, which is more than 35%. Speed bonuses don't stack, you only get the biggest one.
  9. Yeah with primary attacks like ion pulse, fire pulse, stockstrike, and pulse cannon, it's *clearly* a long range spec... if 10m is long range to you. And what defenses does Assault have that Tactics doesn't? Heck I'd say Tactics is a lot more survivable thanks to Shock Absorbers.
  10. Then why do our rams have the shortest horns ever? Every ram skull picture I see has horns that are noticeably long, or have had them cut off. The only animal skull that I know that looks like that is a baby goat. Either way it still doesn't make sense.
  11. So... why does our ram skull have its horns cut off? =/
  12. A small chance to win is better than a guaranteed loss. Doing dailies while sitting in a queue is better than a guaranteed loss. Jumping tiles on the fleet is better than a guaranteed loss.
  13. Hard work (at least for an MMO) is getting to Valor 60 using Warzones. It takes a while and it includes a LOT of PvP. This patch is destroying all of that by giving it out to anyone who happened to pick Imperial first. You don't even need to be 50 to do it!
  14. Actually, this patch went pretty much just like many players suspected.
  15. Nothing in this post forms a coherent thought. I'm personally giving Bioware until the end of the day to fix this. I'll finish up my JK alt's story, but if this remains ridiculously broken, I will not be resubscribing. (Also the new cooldown thing is really irritating.)
  16. It doesn't matter if participate in Ilum or not, what matters is that other people are, and it's going to have massive ramifications on Warzones.
  17. You should see them when they have an advanced class.
  18. Bioware has stated that no matter how much you whine, classes will not be nerfed on the whims of the populace.
  19. I wonder what technology in the future the Jedi develop around the time of the Clone Wars that allows them to use their immense powers of the force to pull down their hoods... hm... My Marauder is 18 and I have a black robe with the hood pulled down -- and he looks amazing. My Sentinel is 34 and I'm still using robes with the hood up because there are no replacements that aren't other robes with the hoods up or a hobo's BDSM outfit (raggy with random straps and harnesses). The aesthetic differences in armor sets are what is helping drive people to the Empire. An Operative can wear a sleek Imperial Officer's uniform and black slacks while he sneaks around stabbing people, but my Scoundrel is relegated to a Superman cape and a silly cowboy hat, none of which really match in terms of color (red chest, white gloves, white boots, red pants, brown and red hat?)
  20. That's such a simple and elegant solution that I'm surprised that it appeared in the patch notes for 1.1 a few days ago. Wait, it's almost like... Bioware was already planning to do this! Except better! http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=173371
  21. True. It's almost 1% off his stated amount! I demand a refund! And a free bag of popcorn!
  22. One other neat thing would be to tie the value of medals to winning or losing. Right now, win or lose, a medal is 5 comms and 50 valor. I suggest making it so if you lose, you get 3 comms and 30 valor, but 6 comms and 60 valor for a win. Or something. It won't solve the issue entirely, but people will definitely want to win a lot more.
  23. A short cooldown on SF/HB would fix that right up. Well, that plus consumables.

    Tank stats in PVP

I'm gonna say this in this thread since it's irritating that people don't get it. MELEE and RANGED attacks can be shielded, regardless of damage type (they're almost all Energy -- I can't really think of any that aren't, actually.) TECH and FORCE attacks can not. For many of the more dangerous classes (scoundrels/ops, sorcerers/sages, mercs/commandos) have their most dangerous attacks that are tech or force. Thus, these attacks ignore your shield. In addition, since tech and force attacks have a base 100% accuracy against same-level targets (bolster helps with that), and accuracy is ALL OVER PvP gear for some bizarre reason, it makes defense all but worthless (over 100% accuracy on an ability negates avoidance from an enemy, i.e. having 105% accuracy will mitigate an opponent with 5% dodge.) This leaves Armor, which doesn't mitigate Elemental or Internal damage at all (many specs utilize those heavily) and can be either partially ignored/reduced (tracer missile/grav round, flachette round/acid blade) or entirely (precision slash/gore). So yeah, tank stats don't do a whole lot. One good solution would be to allow Tech and Force attacks to be shielded if they deal Energy or Kinetic damage, making it similar to armor in that regard. Outside of buffing Defense to ridiculous levels or removing accuracy from PvP gear (and would thus be replaced with crit/surge/power/alacrity), I can't think of any way to make avoidance better for PvP... but I'm OK with that, honestly.
  25. Scrappers have some neat tricks -- Flyby is one of the best AoEs in the game, threat is never an issue thanks to vanish, and the ability to heal during non-DPS phases (Soa's floor drop/shield, guardian droid's missile phase, etc.), and Defense Screen is very nice to have as a DPS. In terms of overall DPS, it's high, but without any way to accurately crunch numbers (no combat logs = /sad) it's unknown exactly how you stack up. The only real problem is your DPS is directional melee DPS, which is a horrific disadvantage in some fights. Not impossible, but your DPS will suffer from those (many) times when you can't get right behind a boss to use Backblast.
