  1. This is WoW speak. You are wrong. Strategic mmo gameplay is perfectly possible and has been a part of many (albeit non-mainstream) MMOs for years. Strategic gameplay is ONLY possible with an implemented ingame leadership structure AND oPvP.
  2. I bet most of the guys saying "oPvP is no skill" have only played WoW and the clone attempts. Personally I've played both types to high level (eg RFO for 5 years, winning global tournament, top ranked WAR PvP team etc etc). oPvP has *different* skills to WZs for example you may be using the same combat skills (more or less) but in WZs you rarely use the following: -Holding mass formation -Giving (and taking) commands to large numbers -Making strategic decisions (as opposed to tactical) -Feints and dummies Some players (me included) prefer this type of PvP to WZs. Don't get me wrong, if your aim is to prove "my group > yours" then WZs are better, but for many, its not. WZs are much more like FPS, to me FPS is not long-lasting fun, just better than nothing. Most of the replies here suggest people haven't even played proper oPvP games (ie. designed around) hence you are blinkered by "zerg on zerg" "no skill" etc etc. In reality nothing increased immersion and community more than good oPvP.

Ive been messing with this spec on my jugg: http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/sith_warrior/juggernaut/#::fe2fde2f2ef2ef2ef3ef10ef8e2fefe2f2ce3fefefe: Based around enrage>charge>obliterate>smash>scream combo, about 10k unstoppable damage on a soft target even more if you take it below 30%. Guarenteed double damage crit on smash and same combo available shortly after if you can get a force choke in to build 4 more shockwaves. Plays pretty well! Massive lols at the guy saying smash does 1k average..... My jugg isnt even optimised and it does 4-5k.

If you order a burger in McDonalds and theres a dead mouse in it. 1/ You would complain angrily 2/ They would not respond with something akin to "You are lucky to have that, anyway mouse is delicious, **** you know nothing" That is why the playerbase here is so vitriolic. They feel ignored, cheated and put upon. If you disagree then ask people with 6 month subs on 100% dead servers. Getting what they paid for? No, they have a mouse in their burger.

The only interesting comms since the 1.2 release has been James Ohlen: http://massively.joystiq.com/category/hyperspace-beacon/ Also, only interesting due to: 1/ How incredibly wrong and out of touch he is on almost every topic 2/ His obvious distain for the player base (ie the people to pay his wages) This game is dead in the water and has been since the train wreck that was 1.2. Bioware have no concept of how to develop an MMO unfortunately (timescales are totally unrealistic, critical features are ignored in favor of fluff etc). It seemed almost impossible to screw up this IP, especially given the investment and long development time but somehow, its been achieved. Such a shame.

  7. Playing DPS is perfectly viable solo. Why should healers be only ones who NEED a team to be "balanced".
  8. Sorry but simply dont believe this. If he had the aoe heal it means he had one insta cast stun, a 2s cast whirlwind and a kb that doesnt root as all the cc is in the other trees. No way in hell he could kite even 1 competent sentinel, simply doesnt have the utility. Now a cross spec, possibly but even then very tough.

Op>Merc>Sorc Reasoning: Ops: + Ops can heal on the move (ie they can kite melee gang bang and still do something) + Resource management is moot nowadayas + Stealth to escape / avoid notice at start - Not much mitigation Mercs: + Good damage mitigation + Resistance to interrupts - Limited Mobility Sorcs: + Good ccs (if hybrid) - All significant heals have cast time > Very limited mobility > Very easy to interrupt - With increase in TTK shield amount too small absorb to make a diff - Squishiest class in game with no mitigation skills Sorcs can still put out huge numbers against bad players but against any decent DPS theyre a free kill. Ops and to a less extent mercs are much more viable in PvP.
  10. Yeah L2P! You healers need us DPSers to learn yu gud about facerolling. I can solo 8 healers at a time but guess what. IM A DPS so obviously I should be able to. Seriously L2P lol.
  11. This. Wolfmith andI play the same server, hes one of the best objective focused sorcs (almost as good as me ;P). Resource management is laughably moot point when TTK is so low and the OBVIOUS nerf to sorcs is not resource management anyway but rather the ridiculous cast time nerf on our big heal (which any decent player will interrupt). So that leaves what, innverate (fine, but self root and also easily interruptable) and a hot that heals for 3k (max) over 9 secs. Yep - healers are 100% fine mr Ogden. Please go back to your "metrics".

    Ohlen on PvP Balance

    The hilarious thing is that he talks about resource management in PvP being a key facet of healing. Don't they realise that the 1.2 changes have made it completely moot now? With TTK being so low resource management is a total non -issue. Just die after 30s healing and bang - full force woot! The nerf he chose to ignore (cast time on main heal) is the killer for the sorc/sage class. Ironically our least efficient heal - further reducing the need for resource management. Change that and tone down TTK and the game would you know, actually be fun again. Lazy, lazy work replying on numbers as a crutch when thy obviously don't play their own game beyond a completely casual level.

    This interview is one of the most frustrating things I've ever seen from an MMO developer. He clearly has no clue about his own game. Seriously? He think the sage/sorc nerf was the extra force cost? Just lol. /sadlol. How can someone think a nerf/fix to resource cost is a bigger deal in pvp than changing a heal cast time from 1.4>2.4 seconds..... Just shows an astounding lack of understanding of PvP. This interview just makes me question whether this game can ever be saved with this dev team in control.

  17. I haven't played my jugg for 4 weeks in PVP now. Its boring, easy mode and doesn't fit my play style even tho its much easier to win. So please.... I still do well (as far as medals, numbers etc go....ie irrelevantly well) on my sorc in PvP. Its just not fun in any way. No you didn't shut people up because you were right, its just that what you posted is perishingly obvious and EVERY good pvpers does all of this anyway. Please, tell me (as a healer in augmented WH) how do you kite a jugg who has 2 charges both on 30s cd? You're welcome. Honestly I think half of you guys must either be guarded 100% of the time (in which case you're balancing for 1v2) or play on a horribad server, because on my server on every map except huttball (due to terrain) WH sorc healers are free kills to any BM+ melee and no, they mostly arent kitable (except ops).
  19. 2.4k over 9seconds? Were you afk? Lag? Healing isn't over nerfed. TTK is overbuffed and sorcs/sages are overnerfed, not quite the same thing.
