An update on the development of SWTOR
black_pyros replied to KeithKanneg's topic in General Discussion
Yup, you are correct. But thank you for validating my point that APAC SWTOR players compared to EU and US were always miniscule. And if the population now shrank to one busy US and one busy EU server, anyone can make an estimated guess how busy APAC server would be. Or are you that delusional to think that there are so many more APAC players interested in SWTOR compared to US or EU region? -

Back in 2013 when this game had 3 APAC servers, it had population big enough to keep 17 other EU and US servers. And before that in 2011/2012 when it had even more APAC servers, it had almost 200 EU and US servers. Now the population can barely keep one US and one EU server busy. The rest of the servers are either semi or totally dead - the same as standalone APAC server would be. -

The difference is a busy server like SF has at least a functional player economy that even the APAC players can participate in no matter what time they play. And what does a better play-ability mean if you are not a solo only player and are intertested in MMO parts of a MMO game and have to wait hours in queue? Nothing. Have you seen Steam Charts recently? I know there are non-steam players, too but how many of the 5k average monthly steam players do you think are from APAC region? Certainly not 10k. -

And how many of the Asian players are interested in western type MMOs? Specifically SWTOR? If they were, this game would not have 5k average monthly players on Steam. Seriously, if they are all playing SWTOR and mostly on SF server (as there is no APAC server), why is the server practically dead during APAC prime time? Where are the players? Answer is simple: they simply don't exist. And non existent players can't populate a standalone server. But be my guest and keep live in delusions. -

Exactly. And a standalone APAC server would be about as busy. I am sorry, but the standalone APAC server is not a magical solution for the APAC players. If there si no population, there is simply no population. The population of Australia and New Zealand combined is less than half of the population of France. And how busy is the Leviathan server? In case you don't know, it's dead. Let just make things clear - I am not opposed to APAC server... I am all for more choices. And if anyone wants to play on a dead server, so be it... -

I am happy for you, Prum but just in case you are interested in a productive discussion rather than this*, I want to ask which one of the warzones you find more tactical than Odessen and why? I find most maps mostly about go cap and hold at least 2 out of 3 of these stable nodes. Some of them add some little complexity like orange mods + points on kills in Yavin over Alderaan (and btw masses fail to use mods there, even when it's only one type instead of four), but it's nothing close to the variety of Odessen. AH is another example of one of the more tactical maps, probably a second one to the Odessen. *In case you are not, just ignore this post, please. -

Odessen, thanks to 5 nodes and 4 different mods, is the most tactical map in SWTOR PvP. In terms of objectives or objectively speaking (pun intended), it's a pinnacle of evolution of warzones in this game. It promotes team play like no other map. So many tactical variations, so many things to pay attention when you want to succeed. Some may find its randomness disruptive but its unpredictability is an actual spice, forcing players to play as a team and not individuals even more and forcing you to constantly change your tactics to adapt. That's it - adapt or lose. All the little nuances with mods, like when to use them, when to spare them, or that you should never use orange before blue, or that you should use two blues on same node rather than on two different nodes... That map is a gem, underappreciated by the masses unable to fathom its complexity. It's such a shame playerbase lacks the skill to play it properly. -

Of course it is, because it's based mainly on replaying old content. But it's nothing new. The main focus on replaying the old content has been prevalent since DvL event. That's 2016. For at least 7 years it's all about grinding vanilla heroics, grinding vanilla flashpoints or grinding old Ops - all of that either for miniscule rewards or new gear tiers tied to pointless level increases that serve as an illusions of new content. -
They specifically stated, it will no longer run.

Fun fact is that at least Steam users will have to, as as of January 1 2024, Steam will officially stop supporting the Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 operating systems. After that date, the Steam Client will no longer run on those versions of Windows.

I didn't know about this. I stand corrected, then. Sad news for me, though. So GSF haters won? Despite no one forces them to play GSF to progress the season. "Many thanks" for their feedback. 🤬 So good that the ground PvP doesn't have these issues as the medals, objectives, skill gap, and bugs. Oh, wait... 🙈

They don't. The only repeatable* content that requires a subscription is operations. *Of course for non-repeatable content like access to max level and latest expansion story you need a one time subscription.
-
You can. Just skip them all and start Jedi Under Siege*. From that moment on, you will get all chapters unlocked and you can then play any you wish to play, skip any you wish to skip, replay any, or even play in any order. *In case you just wish to skip some KotFE chapters, you can skip to KotET instead of Ossus.

Do something about the bots, please??
black_pyros replied to Hrafnhildur's topic in General Discussion
These aren't real bots, it's an expression for the clueless reward-farmers with zero effort and gaming intelligence comparable to a bot. The ones with 4k dps and zero DCD usage. Everyone knows damn too well PvP is full of these 'bots'. -
7.3 Credit Economy Initiative: Updates and the GTN

78.600 credits tax to trade wz adrenal, which is sold by vendors for 1000 credits. Rakghoul Vaccine is another good example. -

7.3 Credit Economy Initiative: Updates and the GTN
black_pyros replied to JoeStramaglia's topic in General Discussion
Sorry, you got me confused here. What new players do you mean? Subs? They have access to mails. Or f2p? They can use QT once every 6 minutes and can list 2 items per character on the GTN. And f2p players don't buy credits from sellers because they have 1 mil credit cap and because, since they don't have money to subscribe, they likely don't have money for credits either. Your post makes zero sense. -

Taxes on sales are standard thing in real economies as well. While in real life they are used by governments as a fund for services for citizens like health care or education, in game they are used as a credit sink to maintain a balance between credits generated and destroyed to prevent inflation. -

It's a "Cash on Delivery" but, yes I think the dev was speaking about CoD mail, too. -

Although I am not against your request, this is not really an issue. You don't have to use your head to count the price. There are calculators everywhere - windows, smartphones etc. In case you don't want to use one you can split the stack, place 1 item for 19,500 and then the GTN will calculate the price for the stack of 136 items automatically. Plus you will give a chance to the poor f2p to buy something, too. 😇 -

It's a price that no one is forcing you to pay. You are the one that want to donate to friend, so either spend some real money or give them the aforementioned fake money they can use to buy what they want - after they subscribe, of course. The credit cap is there to promote subscription. BW runs no charity. -

Buy it of CM. Then you can trade it with the f2p. I know it's not the same as buying with credits, but it's a small price to pay to combat resellers, that are of zero value to community and only parasite on economy while increasing prices of items. Plus it would boost CM sales.
