All the pilot vets tell me the game has changed "so much" since then. Mostly for the better. But also, predictably, not quite as "dangerous" . That is very sad to hear and actually something similar happened to me with ESO. ( All i have left now are their screenshots/memories ) Yeah it's been super fun , just the sheer amount of depth & exploration ( and mystery ) within the vastness of the universe. Later this month, a new big update is supposedly gonna "revamp everything" ( with PowerPlay system ) including some supposed "brand new feature" too . The rumor is habitable planets, but we shall see. Regardless, yeah totally i still get gamer nervous each & everytime i land & dock my ship ( especially the larger ships ) because i refuse to use the auto-assist feature. Definitely keeps me on my toes , which i like. Of course it's not a perfect game by any means , but it's certainly doing what SWTOR never could: Make me miss SWG JTL space a bit less.

Show was *cancelled* today ( shocker ) . Wonder if DISNEY learned anything. 😆

uhh i never said that. i said i was "relatively good" . Words matter and so you better be able to quote me accurately. My thread here is very specific. It's for players who are unhappy with the pathetic nature of GSF development ( as in, none ) in SWTOR. You, for some odd reason, decided to come into my thread randomly ( you bored? ) and complain about EliteD , yet most of your complaints are either baseless ( wrong info ) or simply out-dated. Then you double-down with another reply and start attacking me personally accusing me of lying and trying to twist my words around ( which of course is ridiculous since my words are still there in plain text UN-edited above ^^ LOL ) . You don't like EliteD game because you had some trouble with it? Cool, no problem. But who cares? Again , open world/space PVP is not "toxic" lol that's just PVP. If you don't wanna get attacked by the big bad meanie's with their big bad "engineered" ships, then don't play in OPEN mode. It's like people here in SWTOR whining about getting killed in Ranked Arenas by "over geared" players who happen to use voice-comms and premade grouping with their skilled friends. Good luck with that complaint lol. What the heck are you even rambling about now ? i already told you about *GROUP SESSIONS* , whereby you can choose to go into separate instance with your friends and do PVE all you want and no mean PVP'ers will ever bother you. So again, you're ranting & raging about something that isn't even real LOL . i always do. And thanks so very much for bumping up my thread here too.

yeah sorry but i feel the complete opposite lol i literally have TOO MUCH to do , on a daily gaming basis. ( including the mysterious mythical fun of every now & then searching for 'Raxxla' ) i mean, from a code/cache perspective like why would Developers just allow every player to hold GROUP ships sitting idle/useless instanced forever when those people don't even participate in their game? Every MMO has "consequences" for inactivity. Just part of the deal. i dunno, that's never happened to me in endgame content ( could be ISP issue on your end? ) , but i have heard of many pilots/squadrons who prefer going into their own separate 'private Group instance' just in case of that type of over-crowding server lag. ( which again, happens in literally every MMO in history of MMO's , since bandwidth is what it is ) i'm relatively "good" at space combat ( only been killed once , so far , as i mentioned before ) and while i'm obviously using my trusty Flightstick , i certainly have NOT flown without 'flight assist' ( ingame option ) and i'm doing just fine. Sure, some of the more hardcore wannabe pro-gamer PVP'ers train & git-gooder at flying without flight-assist turned on ( and they never look back ) , but it's def. not a requirement. Again, just like every other MMO in history: There's always gonna be a higher tier of players better than you or me or most everyone else. /shrug Personally, i don't see anything wrong with that ^ . After all , it's meant to be a space SIM . Some people like, and prefer, more realism. Key phrase being "BASIC understanding" . Is it really that unreasonable to expect players to practice in order to achieve higher level of advancement? ( like in every game ) To Each His Own though, yep.

i disagree with your choice of the word "repetitive" . i've been playing for nearly 3 months now, pretty much everyday , and not once have i ever done the same thing each day. Not once. Game is *sandbox* , therefore possibilities are endless and certainly far from "repetitive"....assuming one chooses to play *sandbox* how it's meant to be played. Incorrect. i'm barely begun my Engineering "grind" and i still rek most pilots in combat PVP , and of course have barely any trouble ever with PVE combat as a result. Engineering is very important , obviously , but just like almost everything in video games: It comes down to RL skill + RL knowledge ( tactics, training , temperment, etc. ) i've been splitting my time between OPEN & Solo modes , probably 70% open and 30% solo ( depending upon which ship i was in , as well as whether or not i'm gonna be travelling near a more "popular" ---aka newb gankfest--- type system ) . So far, in 3+ months, i've only been destroyed ONCE by another player. ( on my 1st day , cuz troll griefer ganker was camping newbs outside starter station ) Also incorrect lol not sure where you're getting your info but it's either out-dated or mis-remembered. There is in fact 2 "PVE" modes: Solo mode AND also the all important 'Group session' mode. ( you can form separate instances with your friends/squadmates , yet still be totally connected to the server --- just can't be attacked by other random players ) Then don't play in Solo mode? Game is MMO , meant to be amongst other players. Solo mode is by it's very nature gonna feel "lonely" . ( even though technically you can still CHAT msg's with anyone else who is online , like friends or squadmates or even randon players within same local system ) i agree the game/galaxy can be "overwhelmning" at times , but personally i embrace it because it motivates me to explore and also to make ----pun intended---- one small step for Neekind everyday. Again, you're just wrong on that ^ . Not sure who told you that but it's catagorically false narrative/perception. i'm living proof. ( yes the game is 'Elite DANGEROUS' for good reason , so wisdom & caution is important.....but it's not 'Elite Impossible-Without-Engineering' , so you gotta let that go bro! ) And yet again you are either mis-remembering or out-dated or just trying to spread disinformation i dunno but that ^ is totally wrong lol First, PVP open-world ( red = dead ) is not "toxic" lol that's just PVP dude. Secondly, if/when your ship gets destroyed , you DON'T lose engineered parts ever. ( unless you mis-clicked? ) - All that happens is you respawn & redeploy the SAME ship with SAME prior parts. ( again, unless you misclick another choice in respawn window ) -- Sure it has a redeployment "cost" ( credits ) depending upon how uber your ship parts are. But that's it. Basic credit penalty/sink for death. No big whoop and all part of the "Dangerous" of PVP combat ( as it should be ) . SWG was better at "MMO feeling" that SWTOR ever has been and ever will be. As for EliteD ....well... space is vast , so yeah every system/planet amidst the TRILLIONS of unexplored space ain't gonna feel "crowded" lol . However, i do agree that EliteD could be even better if they finally implement 'base-building' ( ground bases on planet , player made ) and the rumor is they're working on it. But we shall see. For now, our *Fleet Carriers* serve as our "base" to mingle MMO style seeing our characters & such. i've played them all , including the non-mmo ones like 'Starfield' , and in my opinion EliteD is indeed "the best" currently overall. ( never as good as my beloved SWG-JTL though , but those days are long gone ) Clearly, your opinion is different than mine. Which is fine. Take care.

ah ok , i wasn't aware Filoni was THAT involved for this particular show Well no matter cuz i prefer Favreau anyways Totally agree yep . i mean sure watch the 1st episode to "hate" watch ( or if simply curious ) , but then just turning it into a hate-train-bandwagon is so lame imo ( Humans waste so much time & energy obsessing on the internet lol sheesh )

i can't quote you when you place answers within my quote. But whatever it's a pointless "argument" anyway. Your claims about SOE are dead wrong though. ( i was privy to certain internal convos, as well as personally PM'd with Raph Koster the genius architect himself ) . SOE didn't think the game was "bad" . Quite the contrary in fact. It was ONE person at LucasArts , who for legal reasons i cannot name here on these forums. But it rhymes with Foolio Dumbaz. He & only HE was responsible for the NGE betrayal & debacle. Anyways, fun back&forth we just had but i'm done before i get into trouble.

That's due to many factors , not necessarily only because of any substantial playerbase preference or lack thereof. Gamers are like termites or locusts. They'll eat pretty much ANYTHING , since they ( like most "modern" technology addicted humans ) are utterly insatiable. First , i helped work on SWG ( toward the end ) and in some ways i won't go into now basically kept our server ( Shadowfire ) active/afloat. Secondly, i then worked as QA/Coder ( basic bug fixes and such ) for the original 'SWGEmu' project. You know, the one all the other servers/versions were either inspired by or umm "borrowed" code from. ( yeah yeah open source blah blah whatever i know ) Lastly, despite my love & loyalty toward SWG, it's now nearly 25 years old from it's inception. Best for it, and all it stood for, to remain "playing" with my memory banks. It served me quite well, over many eras & incarnations , and i in turn served it equally as well. Now, time to let go and move onto something else. And perhaps, by some miracle, SWG-2 type game ( or something similar ) will release in the future. Wow. umm ... just wow. That is your opinion. Fine. I'll just say this: i had more fun grinding multiple Skill-Trees and "farming lairs" with a legit online COMMUNITY of players , sharing our collective STAR WARS imaginations, on a weekly sometimes daily basis , than i ever did with any themepark-fed content. And if you, or anyone who shares your opinion, doesn't understand what i'm talking about then frankly you never experienced SWG utopia and you never will. That's just a fact. Doesn't mean you're a bad person or that i don't still agree with some of your other points. Just means you either missed out or are missing that elusive thing all of us who experienced Pre-cu (and CU ) were blessed to experience.....and remember. *oh and BTW: Jedi couldn't and shouldn't have ever been a "starter Class" , because the timeline was between Ep. 4 & Ep. 5 , when Jedi were being HUNTED and had to be in HIDING. So yeah, strongly disagree with you there sorry dude.

SOME people do. Some don't. It's just like anything else. If you build it, 'they' will come. And, imho, it's entirely possible to have BOTH sandbox & themepark exist ( equally ) within the same MMORPG . Original SWTOR devs actually "promised" us that very thing in early alpha testing phase, hence why the original planets like Tatooine & Hoth & Alderaan, etc. are so expansive and "open world" ( including mystery discoveries and mini-actions like 'tethering' & such ) In fact, the tragic irony is: SWG finally got it right toward the end of it's run , as far as sandbox/themepark balancing act. If only they had been given time by LucasArts , before the 1st dumb decision to obliterate Pre-cu combat style in favor of the CU ...and then absolute dumbest decision of all time to obliterate the very tolerable CU combat style in favor of the ridiculously awful hyperfast 'Benny Hill' clickfest combat style NGE with synthetic pathetic ui. ( *it wasn't until the end of SWG , when the NGE-2 which was a hybrid of CU & NGE , eventually felt more proper combat. Although still not as good as CU era and still never as elegant as Pre-cu , imo. )
-
Honestly, seeing what's sadly become of SWTOR over the past few years ( including the blatant neglect of GSF ) , i always wished SWTOR had instead been SWG-2 ...and i still do. imo , sandbox is ultimately far superior than themepark . Especially long term. But alas , the way of the sandbox MMO is all but gone like the Dinosaurs. And i don't see any Raph Koster type visionaries walking thru the development door anytime soon either.

i take great issue with that ^ , since you seem to forget ( or discount ) the original SWG tagline... The Greatest Saga Ever Told: YOURS . In other words, SWG's "story" was only limited by the PLAYER's ( and Community's ) own imagination. As opposed to SWTOR's , which is of course very very limited by whatever "content" a handful of mostly disgruntled ( or indifferent ) Designers felt like, or were ordered to, churn out. So yeah, i vehemently disagree with your statement up there ^^ . The rest of your post is pretty spot on though ( obviously ) . Although , tbqh it's not even really a fair comparison. Never has been. re: sandbox vs. themepark ( apples to oranges )

Not exactly a high bar.

Keith, who is right, you or your supposed employee on Reddit?
Nee-Elder replied to MaximusRex's topic in General Discussion
Ask and ye shall receive--> https://forums.swtor.com/topic/935819-clarification-on-swtors-development/ Still ZERO mention of GSF though , so unfortunately his 'message' falls on deaf ears. -
Totally predictable that ^ was gonna happen once lol DISNEY took over. ( aka the kings of oversaturation & milking SW dry for all it's worth ) Once again, for the ummteenth time: No one is "denying" that ^ typical strawman-ish statement. All certain critics aka haters are saying is: Lucas did it better, more subtle , more sophisticated , more artistic, etc. Preaching politics or messages or whatever to society is fine of course , but if you're doing it with heavyhandedness hammers AND delivering it with inferior dialog & inferior actors , well it's gonna rub people the wrong way. ( duh )

hello SWTOR players, Unfortunately, after 14 years of playing SWTOR and nearly 8 years of being totally ignored ( by BioWare and now Broadsword ) when it comes to 'GSF' attention , myself & a few other dedicated vets finally recently cut-the-cord and moved over to *Elite Dangerous* --> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/elden-wing-new-2024-squadron-looking-for-a-few-cool-cmdrs.625985/ It's a very steep learning-curve over there ( not to mention tons of keybinds lol ) but honestly it's the most space fun i've had since SWG/JTL days. Feels way more 'Star Warsy' over there, since we can actually smuggle and hunt bounties and mine asteroids and farm planets and customize ships and make discoveries , etc. etc. etc.. -- Plus.... they have legit flight-stick support! Anyways, just figured i'd put the word out here in case any other restless pilot players wanted to join us there on a day-to-day. o7
